Summary: Great at first
Review: I played this game from the beta, then of course bought the retail to keep playing with the friends i had made. After playing for a while i noticed a severe flaw in the game design... there are only about 8 types of creatures in the game. All they did was change the monsters pictures a tiny bit ( say a different weapon in hand or a different color) throughout the first 60 lvls of the game i noticed this. I would be fighting beetles then crabs and goblins at lvl 11, then them again at lvl 40, beetles again, then at lvl 51...beetles YET again, with goblins. Basically i think square rushed too much to make this game and didnt think to put in the monster variety that all the other FF titles have had.

Summary: final fatcity
Review: At first Final Fantasy XI online was fun, for about 2 weeks. Then you realized that all it was about was leveling up, and up, and up. Okay, you fought different monsters, used different weapons, fight with different groups but just to do the same thing the same way. More then half the time you spend online you spend waiting for a party, because after you reach a certain level, you depend on everyone all the time just to survive. You also need a super computer to run this game WITH lag and if you want it without lag, prepare to spend about $600 in computer parts.
After our 30 day free trial was up, we canceled. They took the money out of our account two weeks later anyway and wouldn't refund it. So you decide...I think its bad, boring, and a ripoff.

Summary: OMG!! Getting on Friday!
Review: Okay, personally I haven't played the game but I watched my friend play it. Graphics --- awesome. Music ---- Wonderful (and you can turn it off if you get annoyed). Characters ----wicked. Being able to chat--- priceless. I love it. I have never played on online RPG before but let me tell you this will be the ice breaker!

I like the options of not having to fight and for 12.95 a month who cares. My friend has been playing since it first came out and believe me it's still her favorite game.

I'm sure the learning curve isn't that bad. If she can figure it out so can I! Sure levelling up at first is hard. But isn't it usually always hard at first. Imean youre at level One for christ sakes. That doesn't mean you go and head for the first boss.

At any rate people who have dissed this game are dead wrong. You should never judge a review until you play the game. Not even mine. How can you say its bad if you haven't experienced it. At any rate, try it and see for yourself.

Review: Had Troublesome installation, but after contacting playonline over the phone the problems were solved. Excellent Gameplay, and the graphics are stellar. Still learning shortcut keys and commands, but its even great before Ive learned everything.

Summary: gets old fast!
Review: I'm sorry to say that this is the worst Final Fantasy to date! I played for a month and the whole thing was basically just about running around and leveling up. Not really any kind of storyline to follow, very hard to get into since the instructions don't give you any clue as to where to go and how to get started. Not to mention you have to pay $12.00 a month to play such a boring game! I recommend you spend your money on Final Fantasy X-2 instead!

Summary: cool game
Review: I haven't had a lot of time to play but I love the game. Grafics are some of the best and it is genaraly easy to find a party once you are at Level 14 or so. It takes a wile to level up at hire levels, but that is what makes it fun. Make shore you have a fast internet ( no phone line) and a good computer and you are set. I love this game and Highly recomend it.

Summary: This one is only for the 'Hardcore' Gamer
Review: These are the reasons why the FF XI is a landmark game but should be approached with much caution.

PROS
1. Incredible Graphics and a vast landscape that is unrivaled is every aspect. In fact, the world in this game is so large and gorgeous that just exploring it is almost worth the price of admission.
2. Very sociable envirionment with hundreds of friendly players. Making good friends in this game is not hard.
3. Astounding number of items and secrets to discover.
4. Hundreds upon hundreds of weapons, armor and accessories to equip to your player.
5. Entertaining storyline which involves everything from building fame in your nation to slaying a dangerous dragon deep in Yughott Grotto.
6. Solid online experience with NO bugs.

CONS
1. Very difficult learning curve. This game is HARSH to new players.
2. Keyboard controls can be very tiresome. Designating 'hot keys' for certain vital actions is nessessary and requires decent HTML knowledge.
3. Gaining levels is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. Prepare yourself for alot of frustration. At later levels anywhere between 5000-8000 EXP is required to gain 1 level. Depending on your party you can get 600-900 exp in one hour (which is the best case scenerio). If you and/or your party dies you lose 10% of the EXP you gained towards your next level. If you dont have 10% towards your next level yet you will LOSE a level. When you die you also need to return to your 'Home-Point' which can potentially be HOURS away from your current leveling area unless you are very careful. Please note that I am not exaggerating in the slightest.
4. Finding some items for completing quests is an absolute NIGHTMARE. For example, finding the Skull for the Sub-Job quest (which is a very important quest) can literally take hours upon hours and even DAYS depending on your luck. Items like these are dropped by enemies too rarely and finding them becomes more of a ludicrous fiasco than anything else. This is one example of many that I've experienced first hand.
5. FF XI is a FULL TIME JOB. If you want to level your characters to Level 30 (out of 70 levels) with an advanced job, sub-job, strong weapons and armor, decent accessories, Airship pass, Chocobo License, Money, Fame, and Crafting skills you are looking at approximately 2-3 months of gameplay considering that you play atleast 6 hours a day and are willing to put in your full effort. For a casual gamer to achieve these stats it could take up to 5 months at which point the Monthly Fee of $13 would amount to more than the game itself cost.

Final Fantasy 11 is a landmark game. Graphically and technically this game is remarkable but it is let down by its slow gameplay and excessive difficulty. If you have the time (ALOT of it) and the money give it a shot. Afterall, exploring the landscapes and kingdoms of this world is one of the most amazing gaming expeiences I've ever had.

Summary: Into you imagination and though your reality.
Review: It has been roughly a month since I bought this game and let me tell all of you people who think paying a monthy fee to play a game is wrong, that trying out this game will change your mind, of that, you have my word. The size of Vana'diel (the world the game takes place in) is so huge and beautiful that it cannot be described in any text review.

From the moment you finish the install, the included Play Online cliet explodes onto your screen and is pulling you though its wonderfuly slick, musical, interface. Free online clients cannot touch the quality of this system. You also get a SPAM FREE email account out of the deal, an added perk.

Running the game on a low end system will leave you wanting, of this I can assue you. When I intially logged on I was running an Athlon 1600XP with 382(Mb)RAM and an old GeforceMX video card. I bought myself a GeforceFX5900 and now I get a visual treat unlike any i've seen on the PC that runs like silk even at the highest level of detail. Those of you with more powerful processors and more RAM than I have will, of couse, need much less of a GPU(graphics card) to achive the same effect.

With the average consumer PC being twice what my current system is those of you interested in buying this game should have no problems and get to see it the way I do; immersive, expansive and breathtaking is the experiance in the world of Final Fantasy XI. To not play this game is to miss out on one of Square-Enix's greatest accomplishments since the 16bit era.

::CONS::
The music, world pass feature and somewhat sharp learning curve are the only things keeping this masterpiece from perfection. It's hard to feel like a savior of your kingdom when you are being mauled by rabbits and worms in the first 3-4 hours you play. Luckily the other people online are going though the same thing and talk you though it. Higher level characters often offer up free advice, currency, and occasionally items to newbies(new players).

Getting past the leaning curve is easy enough as is getting though the fair at best music in the game. A few hours of you favorite MP3s be they game, classical, rock or rap can be played on whatever player you use and placed on a shuffle loop when you tire of the games score. Square-Enix was nice enough to include an in game BGM(background music) control which works nicely to turn down or off the sythesized bagpipes and lutes that abound in the musical riffs of the game.

As memtioned before the World Pass(WP) system is a "key code" that allows you to play with your friends on the same server. You must buy a WP in the game for roughly 1,200 Gil then up to 6 of your friends can join the world you are in, for a few weeks, with new characters. Getting that ammount of gill is not easy at level one, but can be done before your level gets too high though a combonation of begging and questing. Advice, play the game till you can buy a WP, ask someone in the game where to buy one, then get your friends hooked on the game, buy a WP, and make them pay you back later on in the game. :)

:::CONCLUSION:::
The number of positives will make you forget there are any negatives at all. If you cannot get over them, try using the solution(s) I have provided for you in this review. Such a great game is hard to find, so grab your friends, get them hooked and look for a certain friendly White Mage on the Bismarck server when you get your first World Pass, see you in Vana'diel!

9.1 out of 10 is my final gauge
