Summary: The Half-Life Collection ROX!
Review: I own all the half life games and let me tell you they are the best series ever. The graphics are amazing and it is fairly easy. Just but it!!! And, if you have younger children in the house who want to play it. You can turn off the gore.

Summary: Did not like this game too much
Review: First I have to say I had just finished Deus Ex before playing this game. The graphics are a bit dated by today's standards. I must say I did like the interaction with the scientists and the security guards, the the voice for the scientists are perfect. Also the military guys were fun to fight. I enjoyed fighting them more then I did the monsters. The game's strongest point was the characters; it was a fun game in that respect.
As far as gameplay goes, I was not too impressed. Most of the "puzzles" were nothing more then jumping or moving from one place to another in a certain sequence, killing monsters while you were doing so. Plus the puzzles did not seem to have any reason for being there; they just were, so most of them added nothing to the story.
I am sure if I had played this game when it came out, I might have liked it more then. If you are looking for a good game, get Deus Ex for story gameplay and graphics. Or get Unreal for eye candy. Either one blows half life away.

Summary: A Great Game
Review: This is definitely my favorite game ever. It is nice and long with plenty of shooting, and it can be beaten without a walkthrough, because it is hard to get lost (except in the level "On a Rail." Some of the high points of the game are as follows:

-A few times when you run into a room with marines, or if you are outside, there is real music that plays. Sort of like techno secret agen music that plays with a fast tempo, and nothing is more fun than gunning down the marines out to kill you with music in the backtground.

-There are plenty of times when you watch from a safe distance as the marines and aliens battle it out. This is especially entertaining in the last third of the game when the marines and aliens are pretty much equal in strength.

-The graphics are not bad at all for a game that's about 4 years old. In fact (I'm not a gamer, so I wouldn't be sure) I believe the graphics are very good.

-The story line is great, and it builds as you go farther and farther into the game. It keeps you wondering. And it is a fairly believable science-fiction type of story. Not to mention, if you also get Opposing Force (where you play as a marine sent to kill), and Blue Shift (where you play as one of the Black Mesa security guards), you get an even more in-depth look at the story.

When I first tried this game, I said "This game is dumb" because I couldn't figure anything out, but I kept trying until I finally gave up and said "This ...[stinks]." But then a few weeks later, I figured I'd try it one more time, and with a tiny bit of help from friends, I was able to really appreciate and like the game, and I beat it. Even before I beat it, I had already ordered Blue Shift and Opposing Force (from amazon.com).

If you want a fun game that isn't addictive, but you will be able to concentrate on and not get angry at, then Half Life is the game to get. There was not a single thing that I disliked about the game.

Summary: Do not buy this game.
Review: I've played this game for a year, and not long ago found out that at least one in three players in multiplayer mode are cheating. They can cheat because Valve, the company behind the game, has been irresponsible and has not released any fixes for the problems. I myself have downloaded the freely available cheats to see firsthand what others are using. I've seen other players trying to shoot me through walls, looking straight at me. This was a fun game in single player mode but now I truly hate Valve and anyone associated with releasing this game. All e-mails to Valve and Sierra went unanswered. Spend your money on something else. You've been warned.

Summary: Here's the lowdown...
Review: Ok, lemme just say this'll be a long review. First I'll review Half-Life, then TFC. (It deserves a little review, doesn't it?)

In HL Single Player, you're Gordon Freeman, normal scientist late for a day at work at Black Mesa Research Facility. When a test goes wrong at work, the poo hits the fan and soon you're fighting for your life against mutated former comrades and aliens from the border world to clear out an escape route to the surface, and to safety. To top it all of the 'Administrator' (commonly dubbed the G-Man) has gotten the military involved to, erm, clean things up- meaning eliminate all survivors- alien or human.

However, you won't be alone. You'll have fellow scientists to help you along the way (right before they get a shotgun blast to the head, if you're that no-mercy-for-NPCs type) and security guards to offer some cannon fodder while you make your escape, and to open doors you can't to make your way out.
This thing is incredible, and the sequences make it even better. Who can forget the scientist screaming as he plunges down the vacant elevator shaft? Made me watch my step...and the ominous music right before you step into a room- and rock begins plunging down over your head? Walk up to a scientist wounded- and he'll pull out a syringe, saying 'Hold still- this won't hurt a bit.' Free heal! Lead a Barney towards an enemy, and he'll yell 'Die, you bloodsucker!' before shooting. (Might i mention the voices are great?) I also enjoyed the beginning- walking past a table with a scientist sitting at a table enjoying some coffee, or another tying his shoe, or another saying 'Someone's hidden my glasses again...'...
Unfortunately, there aren't many skins for the 'Barneys' (security guards) or scientists. But that's a nitpick. I know some people didn't like Xen, either.
Anyway, SP is DEFINETLY worth playing through, unlike some games.
On to TFC...
If your looking for teamplay, you got yer candy right here. Players can choose classes, such as the Heavy Weapons Guy or Engineer, all of which have different skills, pros, and cons. Most of the maps are great- Well and 2fort are good simple CTF favorites, while slightly more complicated scenarios such as Flagrun, Canalzone2, Hunted, or Dustbowl are fun as well. (Except many call Dustbowl Spambowl because of the excessive amount of thrown grenades...constantly)
I enjoy TFC over HLDM because of the variety. Sometimes I play Medic and heal my teammates amid explosions. Others I play Engineer and set up a sentry gun to defend our flag. Or maybe I might play Pyro and enjoy setting enemies on fire. And if I'm feeling frustrated? I'll break out the Heavy Weapons Guy- just hold down the button and shoot at what moves.

All in all, Half-Life is great. I'd highly reccommend it for anyone wanting story, gameplay, replayability, and fun in one big package. Don't forget the thousands of downloadable levels online- The Rats style levels, in which you are 6 inches tall in a bathroom/kitchen/livingroom/ect., are personal favorites.

Summary: BEST GAME EVER
Review: I've had this game for over 3 years now and it is still the game I play the most. After beating the game (which took me a while), I downloaded new FREE singleplayer modifications and played about 30 of those. And when I got tired of that I downloaded multiplayer mods. The ones I like the most are TFC, Day of Defeat, Firearms, and the popular Counter-Strike (my favorite).
And if you someone get tired of the hundreds of mods available, well then why don't you make your own! Using programs such as WorldCraft or Quark you can create maps and modifications. The fun just never stops.

Summary: A extream, but fun game!
Review: The only way to describe this wonderful piece of computer enginering would be "Spectaculairly wonderful, bloody fun!" I only use it for Team Fortress classic (the "mod" in included) But its wonderful fun! not only a shooting game, because you must employ stratgy. Five star fun!
