Summary: A Great Expansion!!
Review: The Sims now rules the PC, unquestionably. The Sims Vacation respectably adds to its success. This isn't a great expansion, but it makes The Sims more fun and colorful! It also expands the somewhat claustaphobic neighborhood and downtown areas. Vacation Island seems huge in comparison to the other two. A neat feature to Vacation is that you can go on vacation to a winter wonderland! In Simsville, the town seems like summer all year! No snow, whatsoever! Now there is snow fights, snowboarding, and snowy trees! Also making the game fun are the beach and campground areas. These are good, but I think the snowy region is the best! Maybe that's because I live in Colorado, but you'll like this addition too! New objects, walls, and the ability to build a hotel franchise adds to the fun! However, the hotels blow. For one thing, you are the only guests that stay overnight! That's kind of creepy, really. However, if you liked the original Sims, then you will be in no disappointment when you get this great add-on!

Summary: Still a good expansion pack
Review: Aaah, finally, your Sims can get away from money problems, affairs, and fireplaces that often rage out of control. In The Sims Vacation, your Sims can head over to Vacation Island, where they can choose between heading over to a beach, forest, or snowy mountains. Once there, they are met by Kana, the ugly Vacation Director and have a variety of activities to choose from, such as volleyball, carnival games, snowboarding, snowball fights, archery, and fishing. Sims can send postcards to their friends and buy appropriate clothes for their vacation. They also can spend a night or two on Vacation Island.

Sim kids get more interactions than they did in Hot Date. They can perform a handstand for strangers or choose the "Hug Friendly" option with their parents.

Sims are entertained by the carnival games, especially "Whack-a-Wil". The more games your Sims play, the more tickets they earn. They can exchange these tickets for souvenirs, like a Coconut Monkey or a Stuffed Penguin. Once your Sims return home, they can place these souvenirs on a shelf. If they care to remember their vacations, they can choose the "Remember" option, where they will study the souvenir and reminscience.

The good thing about going on a vacation is that your Sim family's relationships with each other won't suffer, even if your family members ignore each other during the whole vacation.

I own Windows ME and have played Vacation for about 2 months and it hasn't given me any problems so far. If you own Hot Date, Vacation might not seem as novel as it would to someone who doesn't own Hot Date. Your Sims basically go to a "Downtown" that's a vacation spot instead. Nevertheless, Vacation is a good expansion pack, giving you plenty of new objects to experiment with.

Summary: Maxis Put Much Time into This Beautifully Written Software!
Review: For my birthday this month, my aunt got me this game. After adding its features to the other purchased expansion packs, I was hooked. The environments that your sims live in are superbly detailed, and your sims happiness, fun, comfort, and hygene levels rise up to a spot decent enough to please them. The vacation Island is the most addictive part. You can either invite some friends and family on a vacation, or get out on your own, and explore the world!
You can go way up to the mountains, and compete in snowball fight, snowmen, and fortress contests! Then, have your sim go inside to relax in the lounge, while drinking a nice, hot cup of chocolate cocoa.
Another enjoyed area is the wilderness! Here, you compete in archery, water balloon fights, and throw darts!
Ahh...The Beach. The sims from all over simsville flock here, just to relax on a chair, and listen to the sound of the gentle waves washing up on the sandy shore. Here, you can rent metal detectors, and search for gold, treasure chests, or ancient toys, like old, rusty metal pails!
I would recommend this fantastic game for children, and adults of all ages!

Summary: SIMS VACATION - A WELL DESERVED REST FOR YOUR SIMS
Review: OK, so you think you're the master of the Downtown and kid's relationships? Well, there's another world that you can take over! The Vacation Island allows you to build a Forest resort, a snow park, or a surfer's paradise beach! You can build arcade games(Most only allowed to be placed on terrain), snow slides, snowboarding half pipes, fishing piers, snow picnic rugs, tents, lodge check in receptions and much more! New characters include Betty the Yeti, holiday directors, Robin Hood and beach sharks(hired depending on the natural land). But if you're dependant that your Sim's™ mood stays high, I suggest not going on vacation, as the trip home can be painful, but it's your choice, so do whatever you want. Unlike downtown, on Sims™ Hot Date, you can't place cookers and hire chefs. So be sure to look out for the buffet table.
OTHER INFO.
Requires the Sims to play, if you have game problems, refer to the manual included. For topics from the original game & Livin' it up, I suggest buying Prima's™ Sims Game guide.

Summary: Take your sims away. 17th april 2004.
Review: The sims vacation, is a great game infact they all are the ones i have played on anyway. This game allows you to go on holiday whenever you want. Choose from a different selection of clothing and items. Once you think your house is ready, or you feel like going away just call a cab, and they will get you on a holiday. Also when you save your house and keep your family there, you can go on the options menu and rebuild a vacation spot. No need to pay for it it pays for itself. Just clear and get rid of anything and also you can rename the vacation spot into what you have turned it into. Get rid of any bumps on the grass oo the spot that can be extra space to build something else instead there. Build 2 story shops and there are clothing stands, counters restaurant table and chairs a bar and everything you would have on a holiday vacation. Then when you are satisfied, save it then get back onto a family and take them to it. SOOOOOOOO ACE.

Summary: Sorry Maxis...
Review: I am absolutely IN LOVE with The Sims and all of it's expansion packs. However, I was sort of disappointed with this one. Maxis had a great idea: taking your sims on vacation, but this game is not as fun as it sounds. First of all, it's really slow, unless you have a super good computer. I know that goes with the territory, but it's really annoying. Second, there's not all THAT much you can do with your sims on vacation. Sure, they can play volleyball or sleep in a hotel...but that gets old pretty quickly. I took my sims to the beach, the mountains, and the "winter wonderland" all in about an hour...there just wasn't that much to do in any of the themes.
Okay okay. There are SOME good parts to this game. First, it's pretty fun to build your sims a resort, even if it's not that much fun to make them visit it. Second, there is FINALLY some new interaction between parents and kids. They can now hug in different ways, entertain each other in different ways, and more.

Well, there you have it. If I were you, I'd wait until this expansion is half the price it is now. Don't waste your money.

Summary: One of my favourite expansion packs
Review: I'm a Sims fan and this is one of my favourite expansion packs (the other one is Superstar.) The coolest thing is when you can make your own hotels. Luckily, my Sim children haven't ever turn out of control. The new items are absolutely cool. I can't wait for the Sims 2!
