Summary: Not Diablo, but close enough!
Review: I have been waiting anxiously for Blizzard to get their act together and give gamers Diablo III, but obviously that hasn't happened. For the longest time I have been looking for something similar, and in this game I have finally found it. The graphics are beautiful, and the gameplay and user interface is very similar to Diablo II. Of course, there are enough differences to make it interesting and it is just as addicting as Diablo II. I tried the demo first, which you download for free, and was convinced that it was good enough to buy. I bought it today, and have already played it for about six hours straight. I really like being able to use horses, and I like the tongue-in-cheek humor that is sprinkled throughout the game. There are plenty of quests to keep you occupied, and I highly recommend that you save your game often. The plots are more intricate than Diablo, and will definitely keep you busy. So far I have only uncovered about six percent of the "world", and I am thoroughly impressed. Right now I am playing the Gladiator(barbarian) and will probably play the Battle Mage next(Paladin?). Diablo II will always be my favorite, but I am glad to have found this game as well. If you like the occasional "hack-and-slash" game where you constantly seek out new weapons, armor, and improve your character's physical traits and abilities while killing monsters and completing quests, then this is the game for you. I highly recommend this game. As far as bugs, I haven't encountered any yet; the game has been running smoothly thus far. The only real complaint that I have is the map; it definitely needs work. It is hard to see and isn't very detailed. Other than that, I don't have any major complaints.

Summary: Bugging, Problems, Huh???
Review: I just bought this game is it is awesome. Like others have been saying, it basically is Diablo 3. The game has very unique single player and multi-player modes. For single player you can go through and enjoy the storyline and explore each area to it's fullest. When playing online, you pretty much get in a party (or solo) of 6 people and kill everything in sight. The story is pretty much gone, but it's fun to explore the lands and vanquish powerful foes. Lastly, I would like to say to all though experiencing problems, GET BETTER COMPUTERS! I have been playing the game on and off line for several weeks now and not once have I had a crash or glitch. I don't know why you people have been having so much trouble, the game runs perfect for me. ANYWAY, THIS IS A MUST OWN GAME!!!

Summary: Excellent but quirky
Review: I just completed the whole game (not just the demo). This is a LONG, involved and very addicting hack-n-slash RPG. Long time RPG players will like it and newby RPG players can cut their teeth on it. At the end you can "export" your character (mine was level 44) and use it to start a new game. The new game is the same as the original but with higher level monsters and much higher level goodies to find. There is one BIG problem with this game..... it can be very quirky to get it running. Sometimes errors and lockups (requiring rebooting the computer)happened 3-4 times before it would finally run. This happened nearly every time I started the game i.e. I couldn't get my computer configured to not have this happen. Once it got up and running right I had NO crashes or problems. The readme file and the game web site have MANY suggestions how to configure your system to make the game run if you have problems. Even with these problems this is a GREAT GAME if you like RPGs. The ending says "to be continued" - I am looking forward to that.

Summary: Sacred vs Diablo
Review: I like to play many games and I use virtual cd player so I dont have to keep swapping CD's - This game requires the CD to play.

Game play can be buggy at times. Getting the lastest patch 1.8 doesn't seem to do much about it.

More drops and loot then you can shake a stick at. Can advance your player above level 100, so you have some definite goals and it will last quite a while.

Overall its a good game. The ending is extreamly disappointing and will leave you with a feeling of... ??

Summary: alright, with flaws
Review: I must agree with other reviews that it is a beautiful game, meaning graphics, character creation etc..
but...I hate the music system. It keeps on repeating and repeating. Doesn't it get boring? The quest are buggy, why you could try run off to a castle to try and kill a bad guy, and never find the bad guy in the castle!
Further more, too monsters. While I was on the way to Port Vallum(or something like that), I was attacked by uncountable monsters. Not in large mobs, just maybe 4-7. But the thing is, with a horse to ride on, you just get tired of getting off the horse to fight them all. Alright it is ok to fight on horse, but not when the game ignores your clicking half of the time, letting you character get wacked. And they are not situated together(the mobs). Imagine riding for only a few seconds after finshing a mob to meet yet another identical mob comming over to wack you again....
Game play is repetitve(perhaps because I was playing the Seraphim character). I just couldn't stand the boring game play by the time I first got to Port Vallum, I just uninstalled it.
It's just not Diablo 2.
It's even worse than Arcanum.
I guess it might appeal to those who want endless smashing of globin heads, but not to me as I really want a good storyline with interesting gameplay. The storyline was quite predictable and boring too.
The game gets choppy when you enter towns. Although the demo itself was worth stars, the game is only 2 stars. Forget it RPG lovers, you will get bored before finishing the 2nd main quest.
This is for mindless smashing of monster lovers.

Summary: A role-player's game
Review: I notice from one 1 star review, the person even admited they barely met the min requirements. A review should not be rated if you dont have recommended. I have 1.5Ghz and 512 RAM. Now, the 'outdated' engine most are speaking about doesnt get in the way or play a part in the experience if one is looking for a game with content, which Sacred has a LOT of. It's a roleplayer's game. Diablo fans will love this game, I agree, but I actually was not a Diablo fan. I like this game though a lot because this is a game with tons of action and good content with a HUGE world JAMMED with quests. It should also be noted that the problems of trying to access the game or crashing have all been addressed at their support forums, but I havent had a single problem with it. Installed smoothly and went straight into a character. I even didnt have a problem with the demo. ALWAYS try the demo first of ANY game ;) For people who have problems, follow regular troubleshooting guidelines.. get your latest drivers. A con would definately be the need to rotate the camera. Zooming is nice and gets you into the action. The world is huge, the variety of weapons and armor is huge.. leveling is adequet, I think it's a tad slow at the beginning, but the action right off the bat no matter what class you are is addictive right away. Option of a horse interesting too. Not sure if I really like it, but it does make for fast travel while viewing the scenery. Also your character will make quick little comments once in a while, which can be quite funny. Good game, full of content

Summary: Biggest 'should-have-been' shame ever
Review: I really wanted to love this game. It's Diablo 3 in a lot of ways, but it crashes CONSTANTLY and I have yet to play it online. The company says it's because I use a "router". Well, my "router" is my DSL modem... I would expect an online multi-player game to support BEING ONLINE!!

Plus, constant freeze-ups, crashes & wierd hang-ups where the game continues, but absolutely ignores my commands, letting the bad guys pummel me to death while I watch helplessly.

There are people saying you should make sure your system meets min specs before you complain, well, I'm running a 1.8G P4 with 516M ram, and I have an Nvidia 5200 with 256M. So, I definately exceed specs.

Quests are seldom rewarding, but more than that, so buggy that about half of them are impossible because you'll go where your supposed to go and find... NOTHING.

In their forum, the company has used every excuse there is to rationalize this horribly buggy mess.

This really is a crying shame. 5 star example of a "should have been". Maybe in 6-12 months, when you pick it up in a close-out bin for $5, the company will have released enough patches to make it playable... but I wouldn't count on it

Summary: Awesome game, but only for the Challenge Obssesed
Review: I sat for days waiting for this game to finally come out and when I FINALLY got it I was overjoyed. Great graphics, interesting voices in the background (Cursing and sexual innuendo abound!), everything about this game is amazing and great! You have a whole world to explore and villians to vanquish. Very open-ended and many different sidequests. It's nice, believe me.

The problem is the battle system. Like Diablo, yes. But you have so many powers and abilities to use, but no way to really get from one to the next, and run and fight? Don't even think about it! Parish the thought! It's wierd because the game is good, but you aiming is atrocious and you have to aim for everything...just...GAH! The battle system leaves much to be desired, but if you know a way around this then enjoy an otherwise awesome game.

Summary: Nothing Sacred
Review: I tried hard to like this, I really did. The demo was fun, but the game itself has a few faults that make it really hard to like. It's buggy and unbalanced, playing more like a Beta than a finished product. Two examples: In towns it's possible to get random quests, that for some reason give no reward on completion. Also the respawn rate for enemies is way too high, as you can head off on a quest, fight your way through various mobs to do so, only to find they've all respawned in the minute or so you were out of the area. Hell, they'll even respawn while you're buying stuff or getting your non-existent reward! Add that to the complete lack of variation in enemies and you have a fine recipe for a tedious slog as opposed to exciting gameplay. Much is made of the promise of future patches, but until they arrive (the next one's due in June) this game is more frustration than you deserve. Having said that, there is promise here, but I would advise waiting until this one gets balanced and out on budget.

Summary: Nothing but problems
Review: I was excited to get my copy of Sacred and that's pretty much where the fun ended. I installed it, but kept getting disk verification errors when I tried to play. I read the "readme" file and found that the game may not work properly with Windows 98 or Me. So I went and bought Windows XP. I reinstalled Sacred, and I am still having the same trouble. I can now see the opening sequence, but then the game just turns itself off. I read in previous reviews that there were bugs, I just never imagined it would be this bad! I'll be returning my copy and buying Beyond Divinity instead!
