Summary: This was Great
Review: I have never yet played this for the pc though I am about too. I cant believe some of these reviews. I was in the ps2 store playing this with my friend, and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. The stadiums look great, the players look great, and heck even the fans look good. The game does seem to be on the easy side. I was plaing pro for the first team, and i was able to catch every hit, hit the ball at least once every time, and I was able to strike people out a lot. Im not into baseball games much, but as far as sports games go this is one of the best. Not as good as NFL 2005, but still really really fun.<br /> I wouldn't recomend it now, im guessing they are about to release the 2005 version so save your money for the hopefuly even better one

Summary: A Must Buy, For the Serious and Casual Fan Alike......
Review: I have played baseball games in my day, many of them, and I have always encountered one problem or another. Either the pitching stinks or it is the batting. Maybe the game graphics were awesome were awesome and the gameplay stunk. Or even the graphics stunk because they were sacrificed to make the gameplay better. Or even the whole game stunk... WHEW!

Well, this game comes to the rescue. The graphics are really the best I have ever seen and could really imagine. Every single detail is perfect - eyebrows, eyes, mustaches, goutees, hair style/color - on every single player. Kazuo Matsui (who is in this game!) has the little red lock of hair on this neck. Ichiro's whole face characteristics are incredible. And the batting stances are just right. Ichiro's impressed me the most since his is probably the hardest in baseball to imitate in a game. They did it classically and perfectly. Nothing is flawed as far as graphics go.

Gameplay is too awesome. Pitching is a breeze to figure out, but that's just figuring out. You must practice to perfect your location, velocity, etc. Batting is a little easier, but on the harder levels of difficulty, it is very hard. You really have to decide quickly whether that next pitch coming is a 95 mph fastball or just a slow uncle charlie curve ball. Bunting, like in real life, is difficult to master, but when perfected, it is a sweet thing. Ichiro is very capable of beating out a bunt if it is placed right.

Nothing in this game is downright EASY. The difficulty level is such that it takes a while to master Rookie - then there is pro, advanced and MVP level. Never even tried MVP level - it is, I'm sure, for the expert baseball gamer.

The gameplay announcing is nice too. It is not annoying with repeated sayings, clich'es, etc., rather, they are quite intelligent. And they do take notice and point out whether some has hit his 30th hr of the year, is throwing 7 innings of perfect baseball, and that sort of thing. Intelligent, like I said.

The different managerial modes are awesome, you have free reign of your MLB, AAA, and AA clubs. Creating a player is fun, too. But if you make his generics 100%, you will have to pay him the money he's worth. Make sure your team can afford him!

Get this game, whether you have doubts or not because they will be completely put to rest once you spend just one day on the game.

Signing Out... PLAY BALL!

Summary: to get, or not to get
Review: i have recently bought MVP Baseball 2003, and it was a spectacular game. I've checked with EA Sports, and MVP Baseball 2k4 is quite a step-up. You can manage - and play with - any minor leage team, including the new addition, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. With new commentary speaches, new gameplay, and harder challenges (for instance, the computer will adjust to your pitches, and start hitting them, even if they're in a cold zone), this game is probably you'd want to grab right away.

Summary: Highly addictive, great graphics on field but some problems.
Review: I too thought I had to get a different game controller to be able to play this game, but thanks to the reviewer from Minneapolis who tells how to alter your registry, I was able to convince the game that my Saitek P2500 is a Saitek P880, one of the mere half dozen controllers that are supported. I am able to use ALL of the functions perfectly - it would not recognize my controller at all before the changes I made. It is ridiculous that one should have to either edit their registry or buy a new controller to play this game but that's about the only bad thing I have to say about MVP Baeball 2004. The other bad thing is the spectators look pathetic but if I don't pay attention to them when the camera sweeps up I feel I am involved in an actual ball game as the graphics for everything that happens on the field are fantastic and the gameplay great as well.

After an hour or two playing I got the knack of how to pitch and bat. I still am a bit slow on throwing the ball to the proper base in time or advancing the runner but that will come. Once I get good at the beginner level hopefully I can get the hang of fielding. It does seem pretty difficult to master manually playing the outfield from the little I've tried but hey, that just means I'll get some good mileage from the game - I don't like mastering a game in a few hours.

Five stars for gameplay, sound and graphics (other than the cardboard cutout spectators of course) but the controller issue is unacceptable. Hopefully EA Sports will soon offer an upgrade so people won't have to edit their registry or buy a new controller. I am highly addicted, it is a very fun game.

Summary: PC Version is OK for me !!
Review: I'm a little older than most who buy this game and have found it quite adequate...graphics are much better that 2003 and with AAA and AA addition, it adds a needed feature....there is problem with gamepad sync but I'm sure that patch will be forthcoming..unfortunately it does happen ocassionally with new game...hope that others will find as intertaining as myself...

Summary: Controller Problems
Review: I'm not a computer game player but my love of baseball got me into it. There's only one thing wrong, EA forgot to have Barry Bonds playing for anyone let alone the Giants. There is a player for the Giants (Dowd) that can be edited to become Bonds. Overall, it must be a good game if I can sit there for days on end winning World Series after World Series in 'Dynasty Mode'.

Summary: Worst baseball game I've ever played
Review: I've been a longtime fan of the High Heat and Baseball Mogul games, and this was my first experience with the MVP Baseball series.
It's definitely going to be my last.
While the graphics are great, the controls are completely unamanagable, the gameplay is absurdly unrealistic (everytime anybody throws a pitch over the plate, it's either hit for a double or a home run) and the Dynasty mode is horrific. There's no way to search for players or prospects at all! While the multiple levels of teams and the rookie draft are nice, the rest of this game is awful. Don't waste your time.

Summary: Do NOT buy this game YET
Review: Im a veteran Computer Baseball game player.

If you plan on playing MVP 2004 Online, DONT BUY IT, yet!

BUGS BUGS BUGS!

This game is know for having a critical bug that RESTARTS the game against an Online buddy if either STEAL OR TRY TO STEAL a base. As soon as you do the game restarts in Inning 1. UNNACCEPTABLE. Its even happened on occasions where no stealing was done.

I also had to spend $30 on a new PAD which I SHOULDNT have because that is such a disrespectful thing for EA to do in not supporting most Gamepads out there and forciong us to spend to get to play.

ALL in all this GAME GAS POTENTIAL but not until the many bugs are patched. Lets put it this way, if this was an Airplane it would crash on its first flight.

Summary: Major Problems With The Game
Review: Lefty hitters expirence a power outage.

The ball only goes maybe 75% as far compared to RHB's

and Jose Gullien's arm stregth is a 70. HE HAS A CANNON FOR A ARM. What's up with that ?

And the dynasty Mode is seriously messed up cause minor league players never turn out to be any better than avg players.

Summary: Don't Listen to Bad Reviews
Review: My brother and I recently bought this game. So far it has done nothing short of making all other games obsolete on my PC. It rocks! Who says that the keyboard isn't good enough? I used the keyboard up until this morning when I bought a gamepad. True, the gamepad does add to the gameplay, but the keyboard has enough functions to allow you to FULLY enjoy MVP Baseball 2004.

We live a mere forty-five minutes from Seattle and Safeco Field and are die-hard Mariners fans. I was totally blown away by the detail involved in Safeco Field. Everything from the cafeteria, to the train, to the bullpens, to the bigscreen was accurate. Even the fan attendance was represented accurately (for instance, a sell-out crowd when M's play Yankees, otherwise, mostly full). I did some research on the internet and found that every other stadium received the same, if not more detail. Even the way the player bats/throws/pitches are virtually identical (the way that Ichiro rears back to make a huge throw is accurately portrayed).

The countless game options are awesome too. The dynasty mode is awesome, allowing you to play the entire 2004 season or previous seasons. The manager mode, however boring it may sound, is a novel aspect. The homerun and pitching showdowns are cool too. The point system that allows you to unlock stadiums is another plus.

The gameplay, again, is flawless, even with a keyboard. There are only two problems with this game that I have. 1) it only supports six gamepads (but what the heck, a Logitech Dual Action is only $20) and 2) I can't play it enough because I'm in college.

Overall, MVP Baseball has, nearly three weeks later, kept that brand-new excited feeling alive. What more can someone ask?

Five stars for EA Sports. Remember, it's in the game!
