Summary: Just another Age of Empires game in a new box
Review: Now let me just say that i have played many RTS games, so i know what am going to get from games like this but Rise of Nations just couldn't delieve the basics for any RTS games. I would like to know why the makers made just one campaign map for the whole game plus the skrimish maps just [stink] hell the whole combat and AI can't do much except sit there and make a bigger an easy hit because they won't fight you. One thing the designers really should fix before this want out is that it could used by most systems but they didn't so then you got to on the man hunt for updates on sound, video cards because it won't work. If you still want it after this please just get the demo or rent do not buy this game BIG WASTE OF HARD CASH and if anyone from Microsoft Game Studios is reading please stop making games like this Age of Empires2 was and forever will be your best game so stop trying to beat it.

PS. Everyone who agrees with me please demand that Microsoft stops making games am tried of them.

Summary: How Boring! History lesson?
Review: Got ya in with the title...now I will give you a real reaction to the game. For the price it is right now, it is not worth it. I picked the game up fairly cheap in comparison. It is none-the-less a very well developed game, yet My history degree gets in the way...Yep I hear you calling me a nerd! Anyway... I get pretty into this game and Micro$ofts last release which was, Age of Mythology by Ensemble Studios in my opinion was a decent price for about the same magnitude of gaming, but does not have the options and controls that Rise of nations has. All in all I believe they are both games that are fun and make you strategize, but wait for the price to go down.

Summary: RTS and Turn Based landmark title
Review: AHHHH !!!
This is how RTS should be made. If you are one of those persons who likes to have the same game updated with new graphics, then this game is not for you.
Rise of Nations is simply the best choice for anyone who thinks that RTS were going stale. It has numerous options, to make it one of the most user friendly computer games. The design choices where you do not need to babysit every one of your workers is incredible.
That leaves space for more interesting aspects of the game, mainly to develop commerce between the cities or to go the military way. Borders and therefore expansion of your cities commerce play a major role here.
I could go on praising such a wonderful title (Conquer the World mode, anyone ?), but check out other opinions to ensure that this is the right type of game for you. Chances are that if you go for this one, it is never going to leave your hard disk...

Summary: This game is great
Review: I found this to be immensely fun and challenging. Recently I have been playing "American Conquest" and found that to be nearly addictive. Like AC it has very detailed graphics as well as realistic movement of the units, particularly the infantry. My only complaint is that the game limits the number of units to 200, which for a long campaign is nowhere near adequate. There were several points at which I had the enemy on the run but was unable to make continued advances because I was not allowed to produce adequate reinforcements.

Other than that I thought it was Civilization with the advances I would have like to see in that game.

Summary: Awesome detail
Review: This game is awesome. It's fun by both the implimentation of battle tactics with economy. I love how exquisitely detailed and diverse every nation is. The best thing about this game: the graphics hold up really well, but don't require a supercomputer to run! Awesome! The best thing Microsoft has released since QDOS!!!

Review: Great strategy game with lots of possibilities. It may seem kind of basic at first but after playing it once you will be hooked, especialy fans of the civilazation series.

Summary: Beware of this game!!!
Review: The Demo was great, I had no problem playing it. The game was a nightmare for me. Apparently my 7500 ATI Radeon card is not compatible with this game. I've come accross a lot of people who are having a lot of problems playing this game because it doesn't support their video cards. I couldn't even play this game at all without the patch, and then I still had major problems. After I quit the game and went to another file or shut down my computer, I had to uninstall the game and then reinstall it with the patch to play it again. Very soon this becomes very tiresome, especially when you have to type in a 25 character Key authorization everytime you want to install it. I couldn't get the Multiplayer function to work at all. Also be careful if you have an Intel video card. My husband has one in his laptop and can't play this game at all. I went to Microsoft.com and found out many of the Intel video cards are not supported. Also your monitor resolution has to support 1024 or you are also out of luck playing this game. The options to play this game are very limited. The game is fun, but be careful that your hardware is compatible for this game or you'll wish you never bought it.

Make sure you get the latest driver for your video cards. I did for mine, but it still didn't help much.

Summary: Step Learning Curve but worth it
Review: I got the demo and I liked the little touches such as building queues etc. so I bought the game. Once you learn the interface and hot keys watch out. I can fight two wars and run a 6 city economy all at once and I'm not that good. The interface is excent and you workers priortize themselves. The risk style single player game is fun if you like risk, I happen to really like it. When you do a micro battle from the game board, there a ton of influencing factors and the battles are quick, usually.

The value in this game is in its depth. If you just are throwing armys at each other then much of the game is wasted. There are a numbver of things like flanking with calvery and invisible units via generals that really get things going. Modern warefare needs to be experinced as it is very well done and the intensity gets high. I highly recommend this game. BTW, I can win 60% of the time on medium, people who are having issues winning on easie levels need to read about strategies or get the guide. Once you start flanking with horses the games get much easier.

Summary: How is this different from Age of Empires/Mythology?
Review: Honestly, I can't tell the difference between this and "Age of Empires" or "Age of Mythology". They look and function exactly the same. Game play is fine if you like real-time games (I don't), but I just don't see the point of Microsoft bringing out a third version of the same game under different titles.

Summary: Believe me: the best Strategy game for PC ever!!
Review: I have been a fan of Strategy Games for a long time. Great titles have been released over the years. Since the Command & Conquer series, full of action and great graphics, to Sid Meyer's Civilization saga, based on turns and with poor graphics, but plenty of deepness and amazingly addictive. Rise of Nations gets the best of ALL its antecessors and not only one single bad thing of the same, and furthermore introduces some really well thought new features (for instance, in Rise of Nations you do not have to micromanage your civilian units anymore and you can concentrate in the really fun stuff: war. Amazing). The result is a solid program incredibly fun and addictive and full of possibilities. Boy, these guys in Microsoft did it again!!. Congratulations to the developing team, there is no doubt they all love startegy games too. Thanks to them too for reminding that there are some people out there who want good games and are not teenagers anymore. Those people have been playing for a long time now and know exactly what is really a good program and what is just a commercial childish little stupid program por PC or console. Buy this game if you have ever enjoyed a Strategy Game, and buy it too if you have not.
