Summary: DS-9 The Fallen , Star Trek at It's Best
Review: I was immensely impressed beyond all expectation, it's a little better than KGH [klingon honor guard], and much more interesting and involved, much better graphics, good playability [look for for odd-looking textures on objects to shoot that block your escape route, like in the cardasian prison: after you get a card key to open the cells and hop up on the bed, blast the grating, jump up and start crawling throught the tunnel-- watch out for little, fast, biting crawly critters and flying bats].
Be expected to die a few times when attenpting long jumps that look like you won't make it, but it reloads FAST in a second. Always, always use quick save and quickload F-keys ! Some levels take forever and a day to get through, and some can be downright frustrating, almost seeming impossible, but just keep at it. The scenery , movement , and graphics, and also the storyline are Top A-class NUMBER-one cool-- especially the
Even if you don't use cheats, which i wish would've known about beforehand, you REALLY want to make sure you you use the cheatcode for the wrist-beacon flashlight. It will save a lot of wasted time waiting in darkess.
My favorite part was all the hours (or days) spent rummaging around in the crashed starship that was built to scale and finding amazing things at every turn! Really folks, it's the best thing since sliced bread! And, believe it or not, it is even more fun than KA [klingon academy]; i just could not believe my eyes.
The beginnning for worf is basically impossible without a cheatcode since his rifle and batleth cannot penetrate the robot alien body-shielding-- [only a regular modulate-able hand-pahaser can--].... and the sisko first chapter is a little boring and repetetive and trying, but all the kira chapter missions are most awesome and interesting [be prepared for reinforcements to beam into your location with little or no notice.... and watch for falling damage. Save often. Delete old saves when no longer needed. Great functionality, good combat [all with phaser or rifle, for kira at least]. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY, i think, or at least 4.5 stars. It's either a major time commitment, or months of enjoyable gameplay, owever you look at it.

PS- OTHER GAMES: don't buy the really old game Borg, as it is very terrible. I did no not like SFC at all either, and don't know why everyone loves it so much, as it is so complicated and lacking in graphics and also its playability. Also, the "Romulan Dawn" add-on for KA [klingon Academy] is not so great because i would classify it as impossible to win in any level. I found "DS9-the Fallen" to be better than ST-Elite FOrce but maybe not quite as good as the Elite Force holomatch, seperate CD.
A strage occurance? In KA, the first time i installed it alone, there were only several ships avcailable in the quickmatch or quickbattle simulation, but after updating my old video driver there a whole bunch of others to choose from. Levels 8 and 10, i think , of KA, you have to go watch dishes while creeeping up on the target ship at an extremely slow speed. I highly recommend checkin mfg's.webpage for a driver update.
As a final note, the DS9-Dominion Wars is nothing like The fallen!! DS9-DW is like SFC [II or III?], whereas the Fallen is similar to elite force [without those cool andorians to battle], and nowhere near as many cheats. You can get away playing these games on a minimal syste,, like a 4MB vid-card, but not with DS9-DW, which really does need at least 8MB of video RAM.
The Fallen really is , most likely the best game i ever played on a PC, and it is right up there with KA, and slightly better, i think, than Elite Force was. Next, after these, i would put Armada I (Armada II was a little too detailed with the 3D map stuff, and AI, for my taste) One more thing, Hidden Evil is really not that great at all (and I have not yet played Away Team, though).

Summary: Good game even for non-Trekkie types like me
Review: "The Fallen" is a very solid game. I've played 2 of the 3 character missions, and really enjoy the story. The game looks terrific, as it should since it is using the Unreal engine, but I like the tweak of the over-the-shoulder camera. I also like the real differences between Worf and Kira, both in terms of weapons and in terms of tasks.

I was also surprised, as an amateur musician, at the quality of the soundtrack, which may be the best game music I've ever heard. My only real quibble with the game was that the missions were more of the same "fetch that object, and take it there" that this genre seems to rely on. I did like the overall story, however, and there are a couple of good twists, although they are not particularly difficult to guess.

All in all a terrific game, even if, like me, you are not a huge Star Trek fan. Final note: this game has actually got me interested in Deep Space 9 shows...

Summary: Outstanding demo - maybe the Trek game I've been waiting for
Review: Do yourself a favor and get the demo download started some night before going to bed! That's what I did and I had trouble tearing myself away from the PC to go to work the next morning.

The graphics are simply superb (I played glide), the interface is friendly (I even played it with my MS gamepad, something you cannot do well in UT), and the small bit of gameplay you get in the demo is completely enjoyable! One thing, tho - when did you see Ben battling a big lizard-looking creature on the show? Of course, that's a fault of the show, not the game.

Where DS9 the TV show can tease you with an entire fleet of ships en route to battle and then show NOTHING of that battle, this game in contrast is very action-oriented and fun! Can't wait for the full version to hit the shelves, because the copy that's destined for my CD-ROM drive ain't gonna sit on that rack for long.

Summary: Good, A Solid Shooter
Review: First off: I would like to give this game 3 and 1/2 stars but that is not possible. Its a pretty good game but it does have some negative characteristics.

Pros: The level designs were great, very pretty. You do get to explore DS9 itself. You get to run around inside the Defiant, which was pretty cool. The use of the Tricorder in the game was a neat idea. Modulating phasers; another cool idea. You have the option to play as one of 3 characters, each character has a different series of adventures. People and things "blows up real good"; nice damage effects. The game ran fine on my machine (I have a 3Dfx card). This is always a plus, ha-ha.

Cons: Avery Brooks didn't supply his distinctive voice to the game. Too bad! In my opinion, some of the levels were too difficult at times. I spent too much time walking around in circles for no good reason. Some of the levels turned into "find the key" adventures. I'm tired of that little game plot device!

Summary: One of the Better Trek Games
Review: I bought this game for ($$$)(in a jewel case, in case you're wondering how I got it so{inexpensive}). Now I'm not quite a fan of Star Trek games, in fact most are boring with each level being exactly the same (Invasion, Hidden Evil). Well, I thought I might try "The Fallen" and give it a chance. It's now one of my favorites. The graphics are one of the major highlights; there are projected shadows, which are very rare in games, except for "Jedi Knight 2" and "Metal Gear Solid 2." The environments are all totally different. You can play on derelict ships, jungles, caves, ice planets, and even a submerged ship. The gameplay is smooth; loading isn't too bad if you have a good video card and a good processor. If you've never played a Trek game or even seen "Deep Space Nine" or any Star Trek series, this game is still a definite buyer. This game is in my opinion, better than Unreal Tournament.

Summary: A good game
Review: I happened to like this game more than Elite Force. The graphics are excellent and also the scenery is very mystifing(typo I think.) It provides several terrains which add to the suspence. From planets with snow and ice to planets with big valleys and high mountains with skys that are pretty. It also has several impressive Defiant locales which were not seen in the series and the neat thing is you can walk (for the most part) around through corridors which are relativly true to the series between important locations. One thing one can say about this game is the music soundtrack is better than Elite Force's. Two bad things which I found dissappointing: No Avery Brooks (Sisko) and no Colm Meaney (O'Brien.) The game is a more challenging than Elite Force because it is not only a shooter. There are puzzles that can be beaten with a little injenuity (another typo.) One final thing is you can play as Sisko, Worf or Kira and the stories are related. You play (for the most part) the same missions parrallel to the other characters and you really can't get the full game experience until you play all the characters. It makes it more interesting. All and all I found it very entertaining. I only hope they release a follow up game.

Summary: Better than Elite Force
Review: I have played Star Trek Elite Force and when I saw this game come out I thought it was going to be just another Elite Force.

I was pleasantly surprised that the programmers have taken some care to put in elements in the game that really MAKE it a Star Trek experience. For example the Tricorder. When I play the game I actually spend most of the time using it. When I beam into a new site for the first time it is the first thing I am compelled to use. The tricorder is important because it helps you locate objects you need and allows you to scan for shield modulation frequencies so that you can penetrate enemy shields- very important for your survival.

Because of this the game creates an authentic Star Trek experience that Elite Force lacks- I felt like a starfleet officer doing things a starfleet officer would do! Elite Force on the otherhand made me feel like a Quake player running around in a Star Trek universe.

The game is solidly built. Nice rendering. Projective shadows help add to the mood. Good music- but missing the original DS9 theme. No problem just swap their MP3 with the correct one :)

The biggest thrill was running around Ops and the Promenade. It really gives you a new perspective on what DS9 was really like. (Make sure to look for the fish bowl on the promenade- a nice touch).

The game is more difficult than I expected- even on the first level. I guess authenticity gets in the way sometimes. But fortunately cheats are well documented online- so no worries there.

The only reason I give it a 4 out of 5 is that this is basically a Quake/UnReal game.

Summary: A great Star Trek game!!!...
Review: I just finished this game, and boy, I enjoyed it so much~!!! Being a hard core trekker and DS9 fan, it was so exciting to play Sisko, Kira, and Worf fighting against Bajoran terrorists, Cardassians, Jem'Hadar, and the cool new alien race, the Grigari!! Above all else, I loved the story so much! It had all the mysteriousness and epic feeling that are hallmarks of the DS9 series! And, of course, there's hearing the voices of DS9 crew again! The only big complaint I had was, naturally, the fact that voices of Sisko and O'Brien were not played by their respective actors.. It was especially depressing to hear someone other than Avery Brooks portraying Sisko.. BUT, that wasn't enough for me to actually NOT enjoy this game, and I recommend this game to any DS9 fans out there! Believe me, you won't be disappointed! :D

Summary: Good game, although some of the cast if different
Review: I just got this game and it's pretty good. To get the most out of it, it is recommended that you play each of the characters. The only disappointment I found so far is the fact that Avery Brooks didn't provide the voice of Captain Sisko, and also that Colm Meaney didn't provide the voice of O'Brien. What is the deal with that? Are the two of them finished with the series and never want to look back on it?

Anyway, it is a good game with plenty of action. The artwork is out of this world as well. Many previous "Star Trek" games have been disappointing, but this one rates up there with "Elite Force" and "Armada". Get it. It's worth it.
