Summary: Very Cool - Fun to blow stuff up
Review: When I first tried this sim, I was using a force feedback joystick that had gone limp, and it was no fun. I got a new non-force feedback stick that is very firm and it was like playing a new game. What could be more fun than flying a jet fighter with devastating weapons? Not Much.
As far as the complainers in this section about windows 98, I say get with the program and upgrade to XP. It's much better anyways.
Happy flying!

Summary: Sweet game
Review: Lock On is definately worth the wait! The game is much better than any other flight sim I've played it quite a long time. I have yet to encounter one of these "major problems" people here keep mentioning. Perhaps if you all had AMDs, instead of Intel POS's it might run a bit better ;-). The only *REAL* problem with the game that I have found is there is an issue with the radar in the F-15. Luckily, the devs are all ready working on a patch for this problem and it should be out any time. Other than the F15 radar issue, the game is just awesome. Runs flawlessly on my machine.

Summary: Soon , this will be a great game
Review: This game is about two patches away from being highly playable. The designers are world class and the game elements are excellent. It is a shame that this initial version does not yet work on PCs. It will take several patches to fix all of the bugs in the first release. We should all be patient and let this game fulfill its potential over time. If you are anxious to see what the next generation of sim games may look like, it may be worth the money buying it now for curiosity's sake - if you want to actually play the game, then wait to buy it until it is finished.

Summary: Locked-Up!
Review: Requires more than my P4 2.4 processor and 512 RAM can handle, even on XP. The graphics are good, even with the lowest setting, but the game has lots of bugs, causing lots of lockups, crashes and inexplicable 'blue' screens (see similar complaints at the LOMAC website) once I get beyond the simple quick combat missions. I had hoped for something more efficient from Ubisoft, considering how good IL-2 is as a flight sim. This is a disappointment unless they can come up with a substantial patch soon.

Summary: Incredible! Clearly requires very fast hardware.
Review: Undoubtedly the most realistic looking and sounding (maybe flying) flight simulation ever. Graphics are a small step from photographic. Add some 3d glasses and you are in the cockpit! My girlfriend doesn't remember me. This game is really designed for the next generation of computers, though, at least in order to appreciate all the eye candy. It still looks excellent at the low graphics settings, at which it will run very smoothly with a 1.6, 128mb card, 512mb ram. There are definitely a few bugs, despite all the delays in bringing it to market. I'm not worried. It's still quite playable, and there will probably be a patch soon.

Summary: Just a game, definately no sim
Review: Very poorly put together, feels half done, flight models are just way off track, feels like an aircade game.

As a current fast jet pilot, this game doesn't capture any of the experience of flying a modern combat jet. Campaign is attrocious it's you vs the world in scripted missions that get boring very quickly (assuming you have a supercomputer that you can get it playing in any reasonable graphical detail without huge stutters etc). Many other sims that are much older do a much better job.

Thumbs down.

Summary: Demanding Game Requires Intelligence and Ability to Read
Review: Amazing when I read people giving this fantastic simulation low ratings because they can't run it properly and they mention their hardware in their reviews which include video cards that do not meet the minimum specs that are PRINTED ON THE BOX!!! If you are can't read or you have trouble reading instructions and Read Me files then don't bother with this game. If you are look for a console shoot 'em up game then pass on this simulation that takes intelligence to run.

This is the best modern combat flight sim I have EVER played. Those of you having problems obviously don't know what you are doing.

Summary: Totally Desaster!!!
Review: Hallo,

I bought this sim here in Germany 22.11.03, as an U.S.-release.
I don't know like the german-version runs. Maybe it will be fixed some more.
At the current state the sim is totally unuseable!!
Everyone has criticized Strike Fighters Project 1 cause of it's
unfinished state, thrown on the market. That was right! But believe me SFP1 was really more finished than LOMAC.
There is no way to get this game running on a W98- or Me-system!!
And with XP, bugs, bugs and some more bugs!

After 3 years of production here comes a tuned Flanker 2.0 in an totally unfinshed state, with some new eye-candy (most of it's graphical awards belong to the new graphic-accelerators and not to the program itself), the same graphical interface, and some new flyable planes.
This could have been an addon for Flanker 2.0 few years ago.

Who wouldn't believe it, look in the directory of both games, and you could clearly see the extremly relationship of both sims.

This is not what I'm waiting for 3 years now!

I'm very interested in the next flightsim-desaster. If this goes on, you get the empty box as release, and the cd with the program on it, as first patch for only a few money more!!!

Summary: Buggier Than A Roach Motel
Review: After trying the Demo, placing this sim on pre-order, having the release date pushed out a few times and waiting months for what I thought (acording to all the Internet Buzz) was going to be an A+ flight sim (Finally!), I am unfortunately very disappointed. This sim is in no way ready for release. This reminds me of the original Falcon 3.0, a great sim in-the-making but never quite made into a great sim.

My system is a P4 3.06, Radeon 9800pro, 1GB Ultra RAM, SB Audigy 2 Platinum, 2x 120 GB drives, Win XP, Direct X 9b - cutting edge. Sim still wont run for long without KaBoom.

I even reloaded the sim twice, re-installed DirectX 9b, verified all drivers current. I went so far as to load it on my old Dell 8100 P4 1.5, GeForce2 Ultra, 512 MB, SB Live Platinum, Win XP, DX9b - No-Go there either. It runs for a short while but never completes a mission without some strange crash. The User Interface is very sslllooowww to respond as well.

Here are some of the probs encountered so far, but I suspect there are 100's of bugs in this code:
* Slow/sluggish response for random periods of time.
* Sound card "feedback". Sounds just stop randomly and a terrible hissing feedback blasts you until you kill the sim.
* Video problems, many, many video problems.
* Dumps to desktop.

Not really a bug, but it sucks anyway:
* Documentation sucks big-time. There are dozens of cockpit controls but NO docs on them. You have to go into the OPTIONS screen to even see what your controls are mapped to and you cannot do that without dumping the sim in progress.

This is a sim with TONS of potential. The graphics are great and it has a good "feel". I wish I could say more good about this sim but I am not able to complete even a single simple mission to be able to tell. This could be a winner, though, if patches fix the numerous issues, but I seriously doubt that they will ever sufficiently "patch" this for all systems out there.

This sim is not release ready and should have spent months more in Dev and weeks more in playtest. It is very disappointing after so long a wait.

Summary: Can't believe I waited a year for this crap
Review: This game will not run on windows ME. You will need something equivelant or better than big blue. You might then be able to get atari graphics. One big stink.
