Summary: Another Grand Theft Hit
Review: If you loved GTA3, you'll love Vice City.

As with most sequels, GTA:VC is More than GTA3. More vehicles, more weapons, more land, more sea. But it's more than that, too.

Vice City is the result of Rockstar listening to their gamers. People said that GTA3 didn't have enough missions - VC has more. Three's missions were too easy - VC's are a bit more difficult. There's more story, and more options. The motorcycles and helicopters are great additions that really add to the game without fundamentally changing it.

Your character takes on a personality that is more than just an errand boy, as he was GTA3, becoming the bad boy that you know you want to play. With all of the freedom of options in play and mission selection that you had in GTA3, VC's missions let you be a little more creative with the mission execution than before.

It's just a great game. It's what you've come to expect from Rockstar and the Grand Theft line. If R* were to keep making GTAs that were just slightly improved and expanded each time, like 3 to VC was, I'd keep buying every one.

Summary: Amazing sequel to GTA III
Review: In the month that GTA: Vice City came out, I read an article about it in PC Gamer in which the designers of the game discussed their thoughts and goals. They concluded that they could have made a whole lot of money if they simply repackaged GTA III with some subtle differences that didn't require much effort, but that they wanted to give gamers a great deal more.

Though the gameplay of Vice City is very similar to GTA III, the vehicle and weapon additions to the game were very creative and the plot and characters make the game far better than that its predecessor. Though the storyline is obviously a complete rip-off of the movie Scarface, the game carries itself brilliantly and the characters are wonderfully developed. The main character, Tommy Vercetti, finds himself in Vice City as a low-level mob thug trying to retrieve some lost money. As the game unfolds, Tommy makes more and more friends in high places, and as he makes money from pulling off various jobs, he can acquire properties throughout the game until he basically owns Vice City. The entire game reeks of the 80's: the clothing, the music, the cars, all contribute to the time period.

By far the best addition to the game is the motorcycle. The vehicle moves faster than a car and though it is much easier to take a spill in an accident, a player can perform wheelies and stoppies and make much cooler jumps off of ramps than with cars.

Vice City was a very original game, and I can't wait to see what Rock Star comes out with next in the series.

Summary: Revolutionary; arguably the best game yet made
Review: What do you need to know about GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY? It has sold more copies than any other game in history. It has caused various media articles on the game's extreme amount of violence and profanity. And it's true - the game is extremely violent and quite profane. And that's why we love it!

STORY: You play Tommy Vercetti, just released from jail and operating in Miami, Florida in 1986. Your mission is to get back your boss' money, but after a while, you drop that idea; with everything you've got, you could rule Miami in no time...

GAMEPLAY: [8.5/10] Nice. Occasional flaws, and everything may not move so smooth, but who cares? Run out and feel your anger flow as you beat people senseless with baseball bats. Or perhaps you'd like to let your wild side loose and run from the clutches of the Miami PD? Even better, perhaps you'd like to collect cash from the snobs you just shot. See? We told ya it was violent.

DESIGN: [8.5/10] The game's "Miami Vice"-esque style is awesome, and the design is an improvement over that of GRAND THEFT AUTO III, but we're still left wishing for more.

GRAPHICS: [9/10] Very good. For the most part smooth, fine texturing job.

SOUND: [9/10] Great. Don't you just love the sound of those bikes flying down the highway?

LENGTH: [9/10] It'll keep you playing for a while, and you'll be satisfied every minute.

DIFFICULTY: [9/10] Most all levels are a challenge, but in a good way. Very nice use of difficulty level.

OVERALL: [9/10] This game is so popular, so violent, so ugly, and so damn awesome, it's arguably the best game yet made. Final note: the music stations are outstanding. The game wonderfully captures an 80's-ish feeling.

Summary: Nostalgia and mass destruction... a winning combination!
Review: GTA: Vice City is an awesome game. I never seem to get bored of playing it, even though I've had it for awhile now.

Maybe it's 'cause I grew up during the 80s, and between the nostolgia trip, the music from the period and the whole "Me" generation attitude is represented; this game has made it as one of my favorite games of all time...

For you hardcore gamers out there, it's well worth the cost of snacks and fast food for hours upon hours of uninterrupted game play. Load up on caffeine, call in sick and take the phone off the hook!

Aside from the whole period "feel", this is still GTA here. It's all 'bout wrecking havoc with fast vehicles, and Vice City gives you a lot of new toys to play with. Helicopters, Motorcycles, Boats, Planes (that don't suck to try to fly like the Dodo from GTAIII), tanks, and an attack helicopter after you either beat the game, or get all of the hidden packages.

Weapons in the game are decent, anything from a chainsaw to a rocket launcher, you have plenty of new weapons of mass destruction.

One thing to say, you can use cheat codes in this game, but it reduces your infamy factor. Just words to the wise.

Now then, I've beat Vice City so many times, the missions are knocked out quick when I play a new game... the real joy I get from just driving around. It's just kind of cool to run from place to place in this game while listening to tunes off the stereo.

The other plus is when the whole 1980's nostalgia trip wears off, you can load up the MP3 folder with your own music and terrorize Vice City in style.

For other things to say, voices by Ray Liota, Jenna Jameson, Burt Reynolds, and more add to Vice City's "cool" factor. The soundtrack to this game includes a lot of actual music from the 80s, including everything from Joe Jackson's "Stepping out" to Iron Maiden's "Two Minutes to Midnight".

Also, you can buy property in Vice City, which can include businesses. This includes a strip club, a porno studio, a protection ring, your own drug "front", a shaddy cab company, a money counterfitting operation and more. The fun just doesn't stop!

This game rules, and I'm very much looking forward to when GTA: San Andreas comes out for PC (release for the PlayStation 2 is somewhere September according to rumors). I can't wait to see what time period, characters, and cars the new one is going to have!

Summary: More Entertaining Than its Predecessor Grand Theft Auto 3
Review: Let me start by saying if you haven't purchased the other recent game in the GTA series (Grand Theft Auto 3) then what are you waiting for? As a matter of fact, I'd recommend you play GTA3 first because both games use the same engine and have similar mechanics but Vice City is an improvement over GTA3. While still a fun game no matter what, you may enjoy GTA3 cold more so than someone who has played Vice City first. Some of the improvements to the GTA series include new vehicles such as motorcycles, a payment system that allows you to own illegal businesses in Vice City and earn profits, and a vastly improved soundtrack that contains several hits from the 80's. If you remember the old television series "Miami Vice" then you already know the story for Vice City. Only this game allows you to play as the bad guy rather than Don Johnson. If you're a Playstation owner and considering buying the PC version, just know that it's the same game only with better graphics and the ability to record your own MP3's for your in-game car radio. GTA Vice City is good ol' fashioned entertainment at its best and a highly recommended for any gamer.

Summary: One of the Best Games ever!
Review: This game rules! I can't stop pling it. The missions are fun, but what makes the game great is the freedom. You can go anyware in Vice City (Miami), buy any piece of property you want! Yes, ANY piece of property: clothing stores, wharehouses, night clubs, biker bars, and strip jionts. You lost your coke and your cash. You take work wharever you can find it. You work for everyone from corrupt lawyers to latin drug gods to redneck polititions.
This is a great game to play when you are bord. If you don't feel like trying a mission you can just cruse around and listen to music from the 1980s.
The graphics are beathtaking. Cars and boat are as detialed as I have ever seen on Xbox. Lush pulm trees and sandy beaches make up the sceenry of the game.
There is so much to. Side missions with taxis, police cars, fire trucks, and more are avilable. Rampages are fun too.
The only complaint I have about the game is that you have to hike all over town just to save your game at times.

Summary: Incredibly Fun!
Review: What can I say? GTA3 was an awesome game and Vice City is even better. If you thought you had freedom and power in GTA3, well, you're even bigger and badder in Vice City. Personally, I love all the modifications and additions that were made. The motorcycles and helicopters are so sweet and there are neat special effects (for example, when it's rainy, it's harder to stop your motorcycle as it tends to slide).

The missions are as fun as hell and although some are kinda challenging, they're usually worth it. After completing a series of missions, you can acquire property/businesses and start generating profits. I love the storyline and the fact that Tommy actually talks now... allowing you to gain power and respect. (You can also dress up in different outfits in accordance with your missions.)

Let's see... what else? OH! The graphics!! They're pretty sweet. The graphics are awesome (with the exception of a few of the characters during cut-in scenes) and I didn't have any problem running the game on my Win2k SP3, 1.2 Ghz Celeron machine with 384 meg ram and GeForce 4 Mx 420 (64 meg).

All in all, this is one of the best games out there with hours of gaming fun. Even if you have already completed the missions, you can have endless fun walking around and testing the power of your chainsaws, knives, or swords on other people. (It is addicting, though, so you might not want to start playing it if you have a lot of work to do.) If you're into games that let you do what you want, GET THIS GAME!

Summary: Buy now, Adults good, kids... not so much.
Review: I have just played Vice City and I have to say that it was the best damn game I've played. The plot is cool. The graphics are great. The voice acting is perfect. There is Open ended gameplay. Of course the carjacking, violent, prostitute screwing mayhem. Another great thing is the 80's theme and how everything fits to it. The crazy clothes, music and sound, and rollerbladers in bikinis. There is new cars, weapons, and loads to explore. You can now buy places all over. Some new vehicles are boats, and flyable helicopters.

I think the game overall is great, except... For PC if you don't have a good computer with a 64 MB graphics card or a 128 MB Ram, then the game is going to play and look like crap. another fault is for younger gamers, some content is very much for adults! The sexual content is quite mild. It's the brutal violence and strong language that get the parents and politicians angry. An example of violence is if you drive over someone, you will hear there backbone crunching under your tires! If you get a headshot, a fountain of blood will splatter everywhere. The sexual content is half-naked strippers and prostitutes roaming in and outside of Vice City. Also another thing is some very frustrating missions.

Back to the good stuff. The controversy helped its sales. This game, in Vice City, there is loads of content to explore and to interact with. Also Vice City is roaming with pedestrians talking locally and the police are a bit more rough. Like if you steal a cop car, they will lay down spike strips to blow your tires.

In the end, the huge draw distances, gameplay, sound, and everything else makes this game one. great. game. If you're 17 and older.

Summary: Big Disappointement.
Review: In my opinion, this game is overrated. Some of my friends told me this game is excellent, but when I finally bought it for PC I was quite disappointed. The graphics are excellent, very detailed. The con about the graphics are the people. They all look the similar to each other. They really need to work on it. People are too rough around the edges. It looks so fake when you make Tommy Vercetti run. And when you see cops and regular people run, it's just too unrealistic. Same things with cars. They repeat after a while plus when they try to speed off, it's just too fast and too unrealistic.
When you get a hooker you can hear and see the car moving, but when you change the view angle you can see the people just sitting. It would be better if they showed some sort of movement.
Plus I don't like the idea of shooting the hooker after sex or going on killing spree and beating people into a bloody pulp.

Yet, I found this game to be pretty addictive.

Summary: A very good sequel (4 1/2 stars)
Review: Vice City is an excellent follow-up to the classic GTA3. It gets right many of the things that made GTA3 a great game and even improves on several things. The game offers another fairly large area to explore with the added attraction of tropical scenary. Like GTA3, there are a wide variety of missions to complete and an interesting cast of characters. Vice City feels alive and has dynamic day-and-night cycles. There is always something to get into and you can do many things in whatever order you prefer.

In particular, the new features include buildings that you can actually enter, a greater number of places to save the game, more good voice acting, a wide selection of good (and not so good) 1980s music, more clothing options, and a few more weapons (like chainsaws and helicopter guns). You can buy your own businesses which can turn a profit, and you can fly helicopters, in addition to driving cars and boats. Overall, Vice City is an improvement of GTA3, though GTA3 had a better storyline and fresher feel.

The problems I encountered in Vice City were minor, but still annoying. The save-game system is my biggest complaint. You should be able to save the game at least once in the middle of some of the tougher missions. The story and missions were much like some of those in GTA3; however, they didn't seem as tied together as the ones in GTA3. Finally, while the new mode of transportation (flying) is on the surface a welcome addition, I found helicopters to be very difficult to fly and land, at least with a gamepad. Also, the problem of getting out of a boat without falling in the water and drowning is as bad as it was in GTA3.

Still, these are all minor gripes. Vice City, like GTA3, is a great achievement in computer gaming. It's worth the price of admission (but still for mature audiences only).
