Summary: not for people who can play
Review: I have a copy of the '98 version of this program. Even though you have to adjust to needing better hands to win than you would in a real game, I can still beat the game a majority of the time after I adjust to it's peculiarities. This one (the 2003 version), however, isn't simply tougher to win against, it appears to be programmed to be impossible. I've played it for hours using all kinds of strategies, sound ones and crazy ones, just to see if I could get ahead. Usually when I would get a great hand and would most likely win, the other player or players would most of the time have better hands. This goes against random probabilities and makes it a joke to even try playing. I found this feature on all the card games. I was looking forward to playing this updated version but am very disappointed. Also, when paying back a loan, which supposedly the game requires, it won't let you. It will only let you take out a loan.

Summary: Fun Time
Review: I have many different casino games and Hoyle has the best characters to interact with the play. The 2003 version is much like the previous version except the graphics are better.I have a good time just listening to the players'comment as the games progress. This is definitely one to add to your collection.

Summary: Great game
Review: I have not found anything bad about this game yet. It has worked perfectly and is really alot of fun. The poker tournaments are what I bought the game for and it has been working fine. I personally think this is also a decent tutor to learn the games that are part of this package. I have learned the basic rules and such for the non card based games, which was a side goal for purchasing this software. Overall, it is pretty cool.

Summary: Have not reviewed this game.
Review: I have not reviewed this game yet. I am considering to purchase it, but would like a bit ,more information on graphics, and if the video slots offer bonus rounds, and if "Texas Tea", and "Little Green Men" are included in the list.

Summary: FAR FROM REALISTIC!!
Review: I have played Hoyle Poker games for many 100s of hours. Its programming is NOT realistic. Until SIERRA's programming sort out the randomness do not spend any money on it. You are just funding sloppy, poor programming. There are too many good hands in Poker - this just does not happen. When you believe you have a winnable hand more often than expected someone has something better. Also, with so many good hands you cannot bluff readily. This is not credible. Its AI is non-existent. It is not realistic!

Summary: Games not realistic!!
Review: I played the tournament Texas Hold Em poker and there is no way you can get pass the second round. You can have 3 of kind, and the other player would have 4 of a kind. You can have a flush, 2 other players would have a straight flush. This is what it is like almost every hand. Anyone who plays poker knows you don't see that many good hands out there.
Blackjack is way to unrealistic. If you have a 20 and the dealer has a 5 face up, he seems to always to get a 6, then a 10 to get 21. I played 10 straight hands, the dealer had 4 blackjacks and 6 20's. That is almost impossible for a dealer to get that lucky. And if you see the dealer has a king faced up, just surrender unless you have 21 because the dealer ALWAYS has another king down.
If you want to learn how to play the game, you should get this, but if you already know how to play, don't buy this, it is a waste of money!

Summary: Great emulation of a real casino
Review: I purchased this game for the use of the facemaker. After all you can play it for nothing on Flipside, but I wanted to be able to use the facemaker. It has to be possible because I see others have used it but it will not work for me. It tells me it has been successfully downloaded but thats about it. It takes me nowhere and I am totally unable to make a face. I consider it a waste of money

Summary: Hoyle's Casino 2003 - Best Ever
Review: I recently purchased this from Amazon and received a manual along with it that I find very helpful as I'm new to Poker and Blackjack. The characters are so realistic and it's fun to listen to their conversations.
The first time I clicked on the AutoPlay screen to start playing I could hear sound but my screen went black. I have Windows XP Home Edition with DirectX 9.0. I was sure this was the latest version of DirectX, but when I went to Microsoft's Help & Support Center, on the list was the question did the screen go black. I then went to Microsoft.com and found there was an update called DirectX 9.0B. It took a little over 30 minutes to download this version. When I clicked Play on the AutoPlay Screen this time, the place where you hear what seems to be a frog croaking, it worked fine.
When some of the reviewers blame Hoyle for problems it could be Microsoft has an update that will make everything go smoothly. Hoyle creates extremely clever games and I'm very happy I bought this CD. The only games that can even compete with this are the Bicycle Card and Board Games which I also own. None of the other Casino games can even begin to compare to Hoyle's Casino 2003 in my opinion.

Summary: Gamble in this virtual casino and never lose a nickel
Review: I recently saw a television show about Las Vegas and what the strategies were on playing the various games offered there. I'm not a gambler by nature, but the show got me to thinking about the possibility of actually beating the "house" at various games.

I didn't want to drive all the way to Las Vegas to find out, and I didn't want to drop a bundle of hard earned money to just experiment either, so I was searching for an all-in-one computer game that would allow me to indulge my fantasies as a high roller without the risk of losing my shirt, my family, my car, my dog...

Enter Hoyle Casino 2003. The game is well laid out and the action is very realistic. There are an abundance of video poker games, video slots, real poker, real slots, roulette, craps and a ton of variations that I have heard about but have never tried. Each game has a nice tutorial that explains how each game is played. If your computer is fast enough, you'll even see the dealer deal out the cards. I was able to pick up and understand games that I have never played before such as three card poker, Pai Gow poker and craps.

This game is very well though out and you don't have to log into the internet to play. Everything runs from your computer. In my search for casino software on the Internet, practically every one that I saw was an online version. This was not what I was looking for. I just wanted a stand alone version. If you just want to past a few minutes away without getting heavily involved with online gaming, I would say that Hoyle Casino 2003 is just the ticket for you. It runs off of your computer, but it also gives you the option to play online as well.

Most professional gamblers say that blackjack gives you the best odds of winning. I'd have to agree because I've already won $15,000 at the blackjack tables. Ahhhh, if only it was for real...
