Summary: This was awesome.
Review: It was better than the first CSI it had more tools and more action. The best investigation game out there right now.

Summary: Get this game!
Review: It's obvious they worked on some of the bugs with the first game. This second game is more in-depth and the cases are longer than the five with the first game. It's helps to download some of the patches before you play, as they help with some annoying bugs with the game. The graphics in this game are much more realistic than the first as well. I would still like to see more flexibility in the crime solving - so that I could for example take a different route to solving the game than the computer intends (sometimes you have solved it and can't bring anyone in to question because you are missing a small piece of evidence). At times you have the person at the crime scene with motive and yet still can't bring them in because you missed a small insignificant clue that the computer will not let you move ahead without.

Despite the frustrations, this game is completely addictive and a lot of fun. It's the best crime scene game out there right now - just as the show is still the best out of all the copycats. It also looks like the creators are constantly improving and making changes so I'm sure future games will be even better. This one is a lot of fun and too good to pass up.

Summary: Wish I could give LESS than one star!
Review: My advice - don't even bother picking up this game, much less buying it.

My daughter REALLY wanted this game so her father bought it for her - he tried to install it at his house and boom, crashed his computer. She brought it home to my house and up to now, I had not found a program that could crash MY computer but Ubisoft has done it. Not only does it not install, the CD Rom doesn't even begin so you can get to the installation/set-up program (and I tried every which way). Finally, like my ex, I had to do a whole system restore. Here it is, an hour and a half later, I am frustrated, my computer is finally running again, my daughter is disappointed because the game she wanted doesn't work and the money is missing.

I expected better than this from Ubisoft and probably won't buy from them again based on this experience.

Summary: Frustrating bugs - wait to buy!!
Review: Oh my gosh - I too am someone who was eagerly anticipating the arrival of this new game and eagerly did a full installation yesterday (the day it arrived on my doorstep). But I am only a bit into the first case (for the second time because the first time I thought I must be doing somethign wrong) and the bugs are frequent and bothersome. I have two click twice on questions almost all the time before they get asked. And after awhile things start disappearing (the pictures of items I've collected, text on my tool box, etc).

What I've seen and done so far is exciting which is why I'm being optimistic and giving three stars - I suspect that with the bugs fixed it will be a five star product but not now!

Definitely watch the UBI website and wait for corrections or upgrades or, if you buy it, steel yourself for likely disappointment.

Summary: AWESOME!
Review: OK.. When i first got this game last Christmas, it amazed me at how quickly i got through the first 3 cases. But, i was never able to get through them with 100% accuracy. Its very challenging but fun to go back and try to beat your previous score. So far, I've gotten 100% on the first two cases but the last three are tough. I DEFINITLY recommend it!

Summary: False Information
Review: The previous posted review should be ignored. I have played many games from UBI Soft without ANY installation problems. All I have in my computers are cd writers/dvd drives and I have never had any trouble installing an Ubi soft game from any of my cd writers. I think the reviewer above needs to have his equipment checked or updated. But there is NO problem with UBI Soft games and CD writers.

Summary: Great concept but too many bugs!
Review: This is the 2nd of the CSI games I have owned. I love the TV show and have even read the books and graphic novels - I'm a bit of an addict. The concept of the game is cool in theory, but there are just way too many problems.
1) Game play is too choppy (and I'm using a high-end system with all the necessary specs for gaming)
2) the graphics aren't as good as they could be - it seems like they just did the bare minimum and didn't take the time to make the environment as realistic as it could be. The characters' movements are very limited and repetitive - when they talk, their mouths look like really bad animation a la South Park. Most of the rooms/locations do not allow for 360 degree rotation, which would make the experience much better.
4) There are tons of bugs - for example, several times while playing the text would disappear in all places - the characters' speech, the text on the main menu, everything - so I kept having to restart the game to get it back. Also, unless you collect the evidence or ask questions in a particular order, you cannot solve the case. This is ridiculous - I had to use the walkthrough for the entire game because I kept getting stuck - mostly because of game bugs and quirks rather than something I was missing - For example, I went to ask for an interrogation when I had all the evidence for one suspect, but I had to go talk to a different suspect about something completely unrelated first and then go back to Brass's office before Brass would give me an interrogation with the first suspect. Things like this are very rampant throughout the game and makes for an extremely frustrating gaming experience. The only reason I'm giving the game 3 stars is because I really love the concept - but the game just has too many problems to make it truly enjoyable.

Summary: Should have been an improvement over the first CSI game
Review: Well, as most reviewers have mentioned, this game was released with major bugs. If you plan to play this game you must install the game and then download the patch from the Ubisoft website. Even with the patch I had problems. The game crashed once for me - the game must save continuously and automatically because I didn't lose any data and could start again where the game crashed. I also had problems trying to click on items. If I wanted to select a line of dialogue I had to click numerous times. This got really tedious and annoying when I was trying to collect evidence. I kept clicking over and over again, trying to pick up items with tweezers or gloves or trying to use dusting powders etc. I didn't know if it was the glitch in the system or it I actually didn't need to use that particular collection tool or any tool at all. Also, tools had a tendency to disappear from the bottom of the screen every once in a while. I think that covers most of the glitches I encountered.

As far as the characters are concerned - the spoken dialogue is by the actors from the TV serious and the acting is pretty good. Everyone sounded true to form, including Sarah Sidle's annoying habit of speaking her sentences as though she were asking a question. The computer renditions of Warrick Brown and Nick Stokes resemble their tv characters pretty well. Katherine looks like someone else entirely. Gil only resembles his TV persona because of his beard. Sarah Sidle resembled her TV character somewhat. What I found really disappointing and amateurish was the almost total lack of movement of any of the characters. Their lips move slightly when they talk but there was no effort to make that movement even remotely resemble real life. Their bodies resemble statues and they stare vacantly into space.

The graphics were pretty poor. It is difficult to find evidence when the graphics are somewhat blurry. After playing games such as Syberia I and II and being spoiled by their fantastic graphics, it's hard not to compare other games to that type of beauty and tedious detail. So it adds to the difficulty of examining evidence when it lacks detail and clarity.

Regarding the storyline... I thought that the vignettes in the first CSI game were much more interesting that the ones in this game. They are as follows: (1) You and Katherine investigate a motorcycle stunt that has gone wrong; (2) You and Warrick Brown investigate the death of a homeless man who had high-end Vodka and $50/plate truffles in his stomach contents (I thought this was the most interesting vignette); (3) You and Sarah investigate a construction site where bones have been unearthed by a backhoe - I think this was the one where a psychic is used to help solve the case (so much for following the evidence and relying on the science). This was the silliest storyline - the motive for the death was a guy who scams people out of their life savings by getting them to sink their money into soap sculpturing (a soap sculpturing get-rich-quick-scheme in the 21st Century); (4) You and Nick Stokes investigate the death of an actress when a stunt involving a gun that's supposed to be firing blanks appears to kill the actress; (5) and finally you and Gil investigate the death of a Komodo dragon.

With the exception of the second story with Warrick Brown, I found all the storylines to be boring. Unlike the first game where the final vignette ties in the previous stories, these stories remain separate. In fact, even though the first CSI game was too easy, I found the storylines more interesting.

To sum it up, I was really disappointed all around with this game. I think even hardcore fans of the TV show might be disappointed.

Finally, the bonus materials that can be access if the player achieves a high enough score. I scored Master level on all the games and was able to access 9 bonus extras for each level. Their along the same line as the ones found in the first game - storyboards showing characters and locations. I didn't find any of these to be of any interest. The only interesting perks were interviews with the writer of the game (who also is the arthur of the CSI books) and a real CSI who is a consultant for the show.
