Summary: Demo review of Call of Duty
Review: Having experienced the Demo let me explain it this way, for those who haven't or can't try it out:

It's like the middle section of MOH:AA (especially "bocage" scenario, AIwise) with the men fighting beside you only much better graphics and a little better AI. And also while that part of MOH:AA only lasted a few levels, this game promises that the entire game will be like that. Unfortunately much of MoH:AA was basically like a bond/spy type game, and not unit fighting. Call of Duty is unit fighting, and I expect it to be a big hit. I now plan to not buy MOH Breakthrough or Pacific and to just get Call of Duty instead.

Summary: Everything you hated about MOHAA seems to be gone.(demo)
Review: MOHAA was a groundbreaking game, but suffered from many faults such as worthless firendly AI, ridiculously accurate enemy snipers, and unrealistic ammounts of enemies that could take three bullets to the torso and still shoot you in the head. Call of Duty erases these issues completely. The friendly AI behaves exactly the way you see WWII soldiers in the movies. No elite snipers were to be found (in the demo level), there were as many enemy soldiers as you would expect to be there, and one hit would have them stumble and crawl for a moment before getting up. A second hit takes them down. It's almost perfect. Aiming down the sights is a great addition. Overall the game is really fun. You get a sense of importance without feeling like a superman winning the war by yourself.

This looks to become one of the best WWII FPSs for now. We'll have to see if it can beat DoD in close-quarters multiplayer combat. BF1942 is in a league of its own with its wide-scale vehicular combat, so it can't be compared. Call of Duty is set to replace MOHAA as the definitive cinematic WWII infantry combat experience.

Summary: good
Review: I have downloaded the demo and I have to say it is great. I played the mission at least 6 times in a row. It is the same creators as MOH so it is alot like execpt MOH graphics are slightly better and weapons seem to be alot more historicaly accurate. But the great thing about it is that u can use your gun sights and pick up different weapons. The best feature is that you are with a squad, which in Moh only a few missions had u working as a team, the rest were just lone wolf types.

all in all this is a great game, and I will buy it but I still say that they should make games about world war where u are the german soldier and in different theaters and operations. For example North african campaign/theater, easter fornt/ operation barbaroosa, greece/italy, and france/poland/denmark/norway. plus the pacific.

Summary: Lots of fun but limited
Review: I'm a Big Operation Flashpoint fan. MOH and certainly BF1942 were of no interest to me. Call Of Duty (COD) is different.

The graphics, sounds and battlefield ambience are simply amazing. Your team's and the enemy's AI behavior and movements are most of the time impressive, yet occasionally outright dumb. This could be the fact that the current demo does not do justice to the finished product, due out in 2 months.

Because the terrain is narrow and there's so much action that is scripted, there will be a limited amount of replay value in the 24 or so single player missions due out. There are only so many ways to play a mission through The dynamics are very limited.

I played the demo on veteran level. I was disappointed in having health-packs all over the place. Very unrealistic. I installed a user modification that removed the health-packs and the in-game HUD. That made things a bit better.

I hope there will be a better health/dammage model when the game comes out. As in OFP, I would like to see injuries to the hands, face, legs, etc., when the player or an AI is shot. Furthermore, the player should have less accurate aim if wounded and potentially lose the ability to crouch or stand up, if hit badly in the lower body.

I hear there won't be any coop multiplayer game support and that's a pity if it's true. Still, COD should be fun in MP, assuming you avoid the cheaters.

Is it anywhere near as good as OFP? Naw! OFP's got large terrains, much more dynamic missions, tons of vehicles, soldiers and other addons to choose from and a lot more realism.

Nevertheless, this looks good. Less intensive, maybe, but still lots of atmosphere and action and the effects are to die for. I'll be buying it.

Summary: BEST GAME IV EVER PLAYED!
Review: Ok, Im gonna tell you guys right now. This game is gotta be by far the mostu nbelievable first person shooter iv ever played. TONS OF ACTION, AWESOME AI, HOT GRAPHICS. When playing this, I actually felt like I was there. What I really enjoyed was how the enemy treats you and your team equally unlike in medal of honor. Unlike in games like MOH, etc you will perform a mission with teamates that shoot at the enemy, but in turn, only get killed if they are programed to die. Not in COD. if the eenemy sees your teamate, hes in trouble. EXCELLENT GAME

Summary: High on horsepower, yet predictable...
Review: This game will be a blast, don't let the 4-Star rating deter you from buying it. I plan to buy it when it comes out in a few weeks, without a doubt. It plays well, the controls seem to be a snap, the graphics are sexy. I suspect that you will need a pretty high-powered machine to get the most fun out of it, so low-end users should think carefully. It ran well on my P4 3.0 GHz machine. I use a NVidia 5200 FX card, thus not the highest end one. The AI seems pretty smart, knock one guy off of a machine gun nest, and another will look, then take his place and try to pick you off. When I played on "Greenhorn" level, it was not very tough (natch...), so first time FPS shooters shouldn't find this too tough. Your teammates are handy, and don't seem to stand around like tools too often. In fact they were a bit too helpful on the lower level, making me feel like I was being chaperoned or somethin'. The higher levels will make you more grateful, rest assured. The only real beef I have with the game is its obvious linear layout. Lots of open doorways, but only the ones that herd you in the direction you are supposed to go seem to be unblocked. This is very similar to MOHAA, where there was always a burning tank or something to keep you on the path. I know it is impossible to write a game without doing this, but it has gotten a little cheesy. I wish game designers would open stuff up a bit... Anyhoo, this game is one to put on the must buy list, based on the demo. Just hope the other 23 levels are a tad longer...

Update... I finally got around to buying the game. Incredible visuals, exciting (if linear) gameplay. I stand by the original four-star review as I think the game is too linear and dang short. On regular difficulty, I fininshed the American campaign in 1h 38m. That is *one third* of the game in less than two hours. That being said, I am a veteran hardcore gamer from back in the day, so I would expect a rookie to take longer. Do I feel cheated? No, not really, because the whole time I was gobsmacked at how stunning the visuals are. The game is immersive and compelling. Buy the game, enjoy it, but don't expect it to last the whole weekend. I dunno what the veteran level is like. Probably tons harder, but still... I decided to play it on regular difficulty so that I could see what the default levels were like. Tough at times, but not too tough.

There are a few (very few) AI gripes... Sometimes, if you don't do things in the right order, you can see some odd behavior by the otherwise very astute AI. For example, I was playing the first of the British scenarios, the night assault of the bridge (Pegasus Bridge-Night), when suddenly I had run out of enemy soldiers to shoot at. My guys were just standing around like smacktards. I got into the trenches and was looking for someone to kill, when I noticed that my goal icon on the compass had moved a bit. I checked my objectives and found I had to run back to the other side of the bridge and eliminate any remaining forces there. Hard to explain by typing, but the point is that as soon as I crossed some invisible trigger line, a bunch of soldiers popped up out of the (ahem) "empty" trenches that I had just been running around in. No biggie really, but it is clear that there is some serious scripting of events and that some things have to happen in a certain order or there will be odd lulls, etc. Otherwise, the AI is about the craftiest gang of targets since NOLF and NOLF2.

Rant over. Go buy the game and enjoy the spectacle. Just don't blink on some of the levels or ya might miss 'em... :-P

Summary: Best first person shooter!!!
Review: This game rocks. This game is better than Medal of Honor, Day of Defeat, and even Battlefield 1942! I recently downloaded the demo version of this game. I found out this game about on PCgamer magazine. So, I downloaded the demo and installed it right away. I was so excited just to play this demo. And guess what? It just happen to be the best FPS game I have ever played! This game was just totally amazing! Like the PCgamer says "This game will make you forget about Medal of Honor!" And it did sort of made me forget about Medal of Honor. MOD is just as good, but actually I think Call of Duty was better. It was only a demo, too! Just the demo itself was better than Medal of Honor?! I guess it was. Believe me, you will love the demo. Just imagine it. If the full version comes out in November, just the demo itself was a blast, then the retail version will be like maybe even better than Half Life(I doubt that it will be as good as Half Life 2). I will be worshipping Call of Duty. If you liked Medal of Honor, you will freakin' want to marry Call of Duty. Yes, I believe it is that fun. Because I have played the demo version. Not only playing the demo, I have seen every single movies, screenshots, and previews of this game that I can find. And until now, I have seen not one single bad preview. So, trust me, you will love this game, I recommend you to buy it if it comes out sometime in November. P.S. If you are not a first person shooter fan, then just try the demo first. I bet you'll like it.
