Summary: MoH and CoD =
Review: This is my review of the complete game of CoD and not just the DEMO.
I enjoy playing "Realistic" Military based FPS's and have already played MoH: AA, MoH: SH, MoH: BT and "Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and these are in my collection as "Must Haves!"
And now onto the Review;

Installation of the game:
1st and foremost for fellow ATI graphic card users USE the Catalyst 7.5 version of the driver and NOT the Catalyst 8.0, it is not compatible and the game will "freeze and or crash.
I checked out a (forum) and found this out and tried the recommended aide and it works, so I am adding this tip to you readers, so you will not have to find out the hard way, if you already have, sorry you experienced it, and please don't let it give you a bad taste in your mouth because of it, because this game is awesome and worth the monie!
The above driver and recommendation corrected the problem and I have not had a problem since in playing the game.
I heard that a Patch or updated driver will also correct this problem, but at the time of this review it was not yet available.

Game Play ~
You play as an Allied soldier from (3) different countries as you fight against the Nazi menace during the European campaign of WWII.
You play as the following, and as you play each level you are reminded of 3 distinct Excellent WWII movies,
1. American 101st/82nd in Normandy
(Defiantly taken from "Band of Brothers")
2. British Airborne defending and holding until relieved ~ Pegasus Bridge
(Defiantly taken from the movie "The Longest Day")
3. Russian Soldier in the Battle for Stalingrad -
(Obviously taken from "Enemy of the Gates").
Each level has you playing w/in squad or w/a group of fellow soldiers.
After all it is War and War is not won by a single mans actions, but rather by a group of dedicated soldiers.
There is varying levels of difficulties, Easy, Normal, Moderate, and Veteran.
Each is different and the degrees are noticeable, as in example ~
On (Easy) you have many life packs scattered about and on (Veteran) little to far
in-between to none.
No matter which level or degree you wish to play, you will be amazed by this game.

Controls ~
The controls are the same as w/all FPS on the computer, and you can adjust them to your pleasing and comfort level.
Sound ~
Simply awesome in regards to the music and ambient sounds within the game, but the sound of the weapons was in desperate need of improvement. (IMO).
I remedied this by "Modding" and changing the sounds to my taste and I used the sounds from the MoH series.
The changes I made were to what I like to hear while playing these types of games.
I gave the sounds a more realistic feel and added a bit of bass along w/ "hard shells" falling once the trigger was pulled.
This created a more realistic feel to the game.

Music ~
The music which slowly entered the game during game play is excellent and in (1) mission gave you a felt "emotion", very rare to happen in a game.
In a word simply "EXCELLENT"!!

I will not re-hash the POSITVE reviews which have been entered before this review, as I agree w/each of them.
I have already stated the Cons, which was the weapon sounds.
This is the only flaw I found (IMO) concerning this game.

It will take a few hours to play this game; I played it moderately, as real life comes into play, unlike some of the fellow gamers who play continuously and then are let down because they continuously play it and they miss out on the minute details of the game.
I like to play games to enjoy them, and NOT to see how long it takes to BEAT IT!!
I believe that there is a lot to notice when you play moderately, so WHY time yourself while playing a game?
Who are you trying to defeat? Yourself?
In closing ~
I HIGHLY recommend this game and it will be welcomed addition to your collection.
I am sure, as with all 1st game releases, that the subsequent ones that will follow will have the added improvements to it.

Get this game YOU will not be disappointed!!

Summary: Excellent game - way too short
Review: I played the demo and was instantly blown away. I picked up the game, loaded it up, and was on my way to Nazi killing bliss. The graphics are beautiful, the AI is great, and there are a variety of missions to play through the eyes of other nations. HOWEVER, the game is ridiculously short. I have played it a total of six to eight hours and am already on the last mission. As one other reviewer put it, you feel kind of boxed in. There is not much in the way of exploration, and it is very linear. That being said, this is still an excellent game. I have yet to test the multi-player for this particular game, but hopefully it will be as fun as the single-player.

Summary: Great Visuals, good atmosphere!
Review: I fount the game too be really good, I love working with a squad that actually shoots at the enemy versus having too depend on doing everything on your own. However, the game is too darn short. I picked it up on Monday, and here it is Tuesday night and I am done. I didn't play it for hours either, just and hour or two here and there.

Summary: Commercial Version Review (full)
Review: I'm a huge MOH fan and baught this because I thought it would be the next generation of 1st player grunt WWII game. I think I'll be switching. I am only reviewing the multiplayer/internet game. I don't usually play single player anything.

The visual effects are absolutely stunning in this game. The players move almost perfectly walking and in a crough. The landscaping of the maps is truly amazing. The sounds on the other hand, while good aren't as good as Spearhead/Breakthrough. I don't think the guns are loud enough with other noises. (In real life, guns are LOUD).

The realism of the gameplay is also one of it's strong points. Your crosshairs get wider apart when you are running, simulating the true difficulty of a "shot on the run." When stopped, the crosshairs will merge closer together signifying the size of your expected grouping while standing still. To further improve your aim, you click the right mouse button to look down the sights. It magnifies the target just a bit to simulate concentration, but of course the sights get in the way, so you can only see the top of your target which is again, very realistic. A crouch run is typical of moving around in a map, but you can enter the prone position, or just stand up and run if you need to quickly pass between cover. The things I was dissapointed in that I had in MOH is the "short throw" of a grenade. In CoD, its just chuck it. If you aim closer though, its a shorter throw, but not a simple toss and run like in MOH. Also, you can't open doors either which makes the maps less interactive.

There are multiplayer game times. I was worried that it would just be team deathmatch, but they are as follows: deathmatch, team deathmatch, retrieval (like MOH objective using documents as objective), search and destroy (like MOH objective using explosives as objective) and behind enemy lines, which is weird (see google). Something I dislike is lack of a Tug of War mode like in MOH:Spearhead+. Also, some maps will only allow you to be one particular allied country. There are also fewer default weapons to choose from when choosing team/weapon but you can find non/standard weapons lying around sometimes (like Panzerfaust for axis and kewl Assault Rifle for allies).
Lastly, there are only Germans on the Axis side, no Italians.

I don't run a server, but in multiplayer I have noticed that the players either will or won't have team identifier icons above their heads, so that's a maybe based on the server configuration.

I don't play a viriety of video games (only first person shooter), but there is always one I'm playing. It started with Wolfenstein3D (the orgiginal 3D), then Doom, then Duke Nukem, then Unreal, then Medal of Honor through MOH:Breakthrough and now Call of Duty. I'd recommend it.

Summary: Ho Humm
Review: Well, I just finished Call of duty and although it was a decent game, I'm not sure why there is so much hype. I mean, the game points the way for you. I felt like I was in a very narrow box..

The best part about playing is when you shoot, you can see feedback of where your bullets land: like on the walls behind the soldiers you are shooting at.

The game goes very quick and doesn't take long to finish at all. I played it twice just to be sure I didn't miss anything. I think WW2 shooters are played out and I can't wait for the release of Deus Ex 2!

Be seeing you

Summary: Great single player, not great multi-player
Review: I played the demo and was astounded by the visuals and atmosphere of the game. The single person game is very good, but the multi-player aspect is lacking appeal. The multiplayer part feels just like Battlefield 1942 with better graphics. The respawn is terrible where it is not uncommon to appear next to a couple enemy soldiers. I hope gets better in a patch, but as of right now, I think I will cut my losses and go back to playing Desert Combat and Medal of Honor.

Summary: Move over MOH
Review: If you love MOH you'll love CoD, for it's awesome. Smoother graphics and better levels. The multiplayer game will leave you sleepless for weeks. Kudos to COD.
