Summary: Better graphics, SSDD
Review: This is just the same boring multi-player 1PS that it always has been, with better graphics. Most of the maps used are vintage plain old CS.

Summary: A Sweet follow up to the original Counter Strike
Review: Counter Strike CZ, is the sequel to one of the best games of all time: Half Life: Counter Strike. For those of you who play cs, the game has not changed much from cs 1.6. There are no new weapons, only new weapon skins and new player skins. The graphics are much better than original cs, and the traditional cs maps[ dust, aztec, inferno, militia, etc] have been slightly tweaked. This usually means another box or crate added here or there, or a slightly longer hallway in places, not enough to change the layout of the level, but enough to confuse you for that precious moment while that terrorist hits you with his ak47.

Players of the original Counter Strike will have no problem picking up Condition Zero, and after a few weeks of play will never want to go back to the old counter strike. The question remains: Should you buy Condition Zero? The answer is simple if you don't have the original: HELL YES. And even if you have the original Amazon is selling cz for only $20 bucks, you can't lose much on that. In addition to the kick ass multiplayer you also get a brand new single player campaign, as well as the ability to play against bots in the multiplayer levels[ id save this for when your really bored]. I the missions to be fairly easy even on the hardest setting, but some of the missions are fun, and new players many like to play this after they get owned from playing online for the first time.

Note that when you buy cz the cd key you receive also allows you to play the original counter strike against your cheap friends who haven't bought the new version yet. It seems that the counter strike community is slowly making the change to condition zero. As of today [6-5-04] there are about 4x as many playing the original counter strike as there are playing Condition zero- 45,000 playing cs to 10,000 playing cz. (No I did not pull that number out of my ass, you can see for your self on steams website, http://www.steampowered.com/status/game_stats.html ) If I remember correctly that number used to be more like 10 people playing cs to 1 person playing cz a few months ago. By the time you read this Condition Zero may have overtaken the original counter strike in terms of player usage.

I give this game five stars because it is wicked fun to play, and it never seems to get boring. Counter Strike: Condition Zero does require skill and some patience at times. The game is round based- meaning after you die you must wait for everyone on your team to finish off the other team. If your looking for instant respawns and mass killing, you should play halo, or unreal tournament.

Review: Before I start my renting I have to admit, Counter Strike is THE game of all time.

What ever happened to the smooth code that ran a high end game on a crap PC on stone age transit? Condition Zero SP game in iteslf is ok and still getting emazed every time a AI bot sneakts up from behind with a gutting knife attack.

This game was originally created for Online gaming though. That perticular portion of the stack simply sucks in this version! Steam, if we pay let us play.

Review: Let's face it...Counter Strike fans will give this game high ratings no matter what. True die hard CS players like myself laugh at the weak attempt that was made in Condition Zero.

If you have played Counter Strike, you will be disappointed. If you have dial-up or cannot access the internet...I still cannot recommend this game unless the price goes below $20.

Save your money, buy Unreal Tournament 2004 and download some of the weapons mods and conversion mods available for free. The enemy AI is mind bendingly awesome and will humble you quickly.
Plus, you get a more dynamic game that constantly changes and is very dynamic.

Condition Zero is stale, repetitive, the enemy AI is predictable, the objectives are stupid - example, you must rescue 5 hostages and kill a terrorist with the sniper rifle. Ok fine...but see how hard it is to rescue 5 hostages when your computer AI teammates keep killing the terrorists and finishing the level before you can rescue any hostages at all! I had to let the terrorists kill my guys on purpose just to get around this problem!

Summary: All "Steam"ed up...
Review: Well, I've been playing CS for such a long time now and thought hey, CS:CZ is out. And hearing all those reviews about it, I decided to get the game. I started with Deleted Scenes first, and somehow, it never was half the fun CS is, or Half Life was. But all in all, Deleted Scenes was OK, if not too much fun. (Makes sense they were "Deleted") Then came the trouble, I launched CZ and thought hey, let's go online. I happen to be on a 56k line, by the way, because that is all they have here.
I was told to install Steam and then it started downloading the latest update for CZ. And after an agonizing half an hour wait, I wait to play the game, and I get a message saying Steam was going to copy all my existing HL, OpFor, and CS/CS:CZ and all those other installs into its folder. I had to wait another agonizing one hour for it to complete.
I get offline after a couple of rounds, disconnect and then try running Deleted Scenes, BAM! No Show! Apparently, I can't play the game in Offline mode. After checking so many websites for a resolution and being unable to find one, I resolved myself to skipping Deleted Scenes and using it just for online gaming, which just defeats the purpose for which I bought this game.
I can understand piracy and all, but this is like trying to kill an ant with a nuclear bomb.
I am so much disappointed, and I would really love it if we could just go back to the normal play that existed before without making us customers tear out our hair in frustration. Sierra, are you listening?

Summary: Good Game - Bad Restrictions
Review: CS:CZ is actually two games. Condition Zero is team play using the built in bots. There are 5 tour of duties, each with 3 different maps. Most of which are from the original Counter Strike, but with added graphics. There are 3 levels of difficulty, easy, normal, and hard. Each tour of duty has map goals that must be completed before you can secure that map. Goals range from obtaining a certain number of kills, to rescueing hostages, to completing the round in under a certain time limit, or a combination of all. My opinion is that the enemy bots seem to always be better than your own team.

The other game is Condition Zero - Deleted Scenes. This is more like the original Half Life. There is a puzzle that has to be solved to complete the level. Its not as fast paced as the first game, at least not in the beginning ( I havent played it all the way through yet).

My biggest complaint about the game has nothing to do with the game itself. It has to do with the games dependence on Valves STEAM client (www.steampowered.com). Currently, the only way to receive patches and updates is by installing the STEAM client. If you do, you will have to play your game through STEAM, which creates a complete copy of your czero directory (wasting hard drive space). It will not save your games to the original directory. If the STEAM network cannot be reached then you will not be able to play the game unless you play using the original CD. And of course you will have to start over because all of the saved games will be in the STEAM folder instead of the original czero folder. I understand that STEAM is designed to eliminate piracy. But as usual, it ruins the game players experience by forcing unnecessary restrictions.

If you have a broadband connection and you don't mind being dependent on STEAM for your online gaming and updates then I recommend buying the game. If you would rather play on a LAN or mostly in single player mode, and want the option to download patches, I suggest waiting until the CS:CZ people get the message and start offering the updates for download before you buy this game.

I give the stand alone game 4 stars - 5 stars with the updates only available through STEAM - I give STEAM 1 star, its a good idea implemented incorrectly.

Summary: good game but.....
Review: the price of the game is not worth it. this is cs with better graphics and a single player mode. multiplayer is greater than single player and it will always stay that way... please do not buy unless you are willing to waste a good 40 bucks on a game with slightly better graphics than its 20 dollar version (half life game of the year edition with cs downloaded from the internet).

Summary: Very Nice Game
Review: Condition Zero did not disappoint me. I love it and one thing I like a lot about it is that in Counter-strike if you had a Bot addon so you could play with computer players and you wanted to play a custom map, you'd have to download waypoints for the map but in CZ it automatically waypoints the map for you once you play the map. The Bots are extremely realistic with only a few minor flaws. An EXTREME improvement to ALL other bot addons that you could download for CS. The missions are nice, maps are better looking, and all models (characters, weapons, objects) are upgraded and look atleast 3x nicer than in CS. Many people I've talked to were disappointed because they say, "It's just like the 1st one." But I'm a CS Veteran and I'm extremely glad Vallve didn't change the gameplay or anything and mess it up. I LOVE THE NEW COUNTER-STRIKE: CONSITION ZERO AND RECOMMEND IT TO ALL.
