Summary: A little new info...
Review: (...) Someone mentioned that Doom III wouldn't be story driven and it would be just using "big guns to kill big monsters." Well, to that I tell you watch the official trailer and you will see the beginning of the story unfold right before your eyes. I also watched a video interview with the CEO of Id Software and he stated that Doom III wouldn't be anything like the previous. It's not going to be minldessly blowing away thousands of stupid enemies. The enemies for sure have A.I. and they put significance on fighting what almost look like "bosses." There is definetely strategy in this game from what I can tell.

I just wanted to state that this game does not seem to be following in the footsteps of its predesessors.

Review: Strange, Doom 3 and Halflife 2 are both being released on the same day, and both have been pushing back their release dates forever. Conincidence or conspiracy? You decide.

Three stars for both, seen demos of both their engines and was thouroughly amazed with the graphics and physics within these new games, but I'm just tired of them delaying and delaying and delaying.

Summary: Welcome to Hell
Review: Doom fans there's a new doom in town. Now this doom has nothing to do with the last two dooms. Although eather way you know it's going to be a big hit on both PC and Xbox. The difference between the two is that the PC started in 2000 and the Xbox started in 2003 January. But don't think that the PC would suck becuse it definitly will not. Again this game isn't Rated but most likley will be rated M.

Review: I must admit that I've been a fan of Id Software's products for quite some time (Commander Keen even). And many of their games have had industry changing effects:

Wolfenstein 3D - The first major shareware game. You could buy the floppy of just a few levels for 5$ and spread it around to your friends. I can't even count how many time's I've played through the first episode, only to have my progress halted by the "To purchase the other episodes, please blah blah blah...." after mowing down level upon level of nazi scumbags.

Doom - A first person shooter you could play with your friends! Shoot them, OR have them help you shoot the enemies! Ah, the countless hours spent trying to get the modem-play to work and shouting "If the phone rings, don't pick it up!"

Quake - Now with support for more people than your bandwith can handle (at the time). Plus the ability to add user-made modifications to the game without actually editing the .exe!!! This led to the first incarnation of the CTF FPS, which is a must for any multiplayer FPS today.

Quake 2 - Multi-processor support!? The programmers at Id have some skill.

The later versions of Doom have always been primarily single-player, while the Quake line has focused on Multi-player. I am looking forward to this latest installment of Id's long list of accomplishments. And I'm sure that any ground-breaking technologies in the game won't even be realized for a few years.

Summary: Dude, its Doom
Review: Doom, how could anyone possibly even think that it wouldn't be great. I mean, id has never, and i mean never came out with a game that was bad, and this will be no different. Plus, we have John Carmack making the game engine, which is the sweetest thing possible for the game. The only thing that bothers most people is that it was delayed for so long, but c'mon people, its Doom! Why mess with perfection?

Summary: Lights, camera and action !!!!
Review: You decend down an elevator, and the action begins....literally on your face. It took me a minute to fully get accustomed to the environment I had been put in. The swinging light and its dark shadows. The scream of a tortured soul. Really, I am not talking about some Arni movie. Really....

Like a mad follower, from the day I heard about Doom 3, I wanted to play it. I knew creating such a game would take time....but hey, I love that guy in ATI who leaked Doom 3.

The intence environment of Doom 3 really pumps up that live movie experience. The zombies creeping out from the least expected corners makes you jump...at least it made me jump every time. Believe me, a 4 player multiplayer action is more than you can digest, particularly if ID follows the path of Blizzard (a.k.a Diablo) where the baddies become more cruel with more players.

The lighting and shadows speak volumes about the advanced game engine. Shadows I have seen before, but they never looked this preety. Sorry, creepy. Instead of the plain old point-and-shoot, you start looking up and down, for a faint movement or a fleeting shadow to give you that extra second before hell decends on you.

True, the ragdoll physics and the sounds are nothing new, but ID has the unusual knack of pulling nice games. Really nice, which will have you playing deep into the night, in a dark room, hoping against hope to survive another level, and screaming "OMG, Pinky just killed me !."

Summary: doom III
Review: I, like many other reviewers, have played the alpha leak of this game. It is indeed nothing short of astonishing. I was impressed by how smoothe it was able translate from a realtime cinema to your HUD (Heads Up Display), there was no loading time at all because all of the cinemas actually happen in the game and arent separate files that have to be loaded apart from the game itself. The engine used on this game is without a doubt the best i have seen in terms of lighting and realtime shadowing. The textures are very good and interactivity with the environments is also very respectable, although in the early build which i played, the enemy animations were a bit rigid. For instance, an enemy would just fall over like a log when shot, insted of actually responding to the area where it had been hit. I believe that the ragdoll physics hadn't been added in yet in the alpha, along with the hit detection. The game sounds like it is coming along well, although it is likely that you will need to upgrade your PC before being able to run it. The minimum system requirements for Doom III stated by Id are quite low, and wouldn't result in a very good game experience. I reccommend that you have a processor with a speed of 2.8 gig or higher ( Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading or an AMD athalon) and a respectable graphics card such as an ATI radeon 9600 or a 9800. I just hope this game, along with HL2, doesn't turn into another Duke Nukem'Forever.

Summary: Perfect name
Review: Wolfeinstein 3D was the very first FPS game ever made, but it was Doom that made the genre popular. From its labyrinth-like levels to different variety of monsters to the overall ultra-violence (pun intended) Doom has remained in the Hall of Fame as one of the best FPS's ever. Btw, jai ling likes games like mary kate and ashley olsen, spiceworld, etc.

Summary: Buyer Beware, You're in for a Scare..In Your Wallet
Review: Aside from the fact the game is beyond overdue, the fact remains that other games are simply better or on-the-level of Doom3. The Half-Life2 engine, though also belated, presents a much more realistic and engrossing atmosphere. Yes, yes, Doom is going for that "horror" thing. The thing is, and any artist will tell you this, the EXTREME shading that Doom3 is going for is the OLDEST TRICK in the book. It is there to simply hide their lack of actual detail and motion. They simply have all the objects with light-effects and bumps to create a "ooo that's pretty" kind of look. This game would have been amazing if it was released when it was supposed to have, a long time ago.

I'm also willing to be this game isn't as nearly as back-scalable as the HL2 engine will be--or any modern engine at that. If iD expects us all to buy a GeForce29,000XT because their corperate love-budy nVidia wants us to, then they can shove a few sticks of RAM up their #$@.

If you ordered it, cancel it. Wait and see what the final product looks like. Frankly, iD, j00 r duh idiotz.
