Summary: Fantastic! Even better than the original Unreal Tournament
Review: I skipped on UT2k3 mostly because it was just more of the same, and in some ways inferior to UT99. The weapons were worse, and they took out Assault mode. After the dissapointment of Unreal 2, and UT2k3, I was starting to think Epic might lose it's fanbase.

But now, UT2k4 comes, and those fears quickly disapeared. Assault mode is back, and has been improved substantially. A mini tutorial explains the mission objectives, and durring the mission, on screen arrows and indicators show where you need to go next. This makes the game newb friendly, and idiot proof (except to the truly stupid). CTF has also improved, with the touch of a button, a indicator appears and flows showing which direction the flag you are looking for is in. Helps a lot for some of the more confusing CTF maps.

As for new content, the onslaught mode is fantastic. The vehicles are fun, and balanced, and the game mechanics are ingenious. Think connect the dots, except with guns and tanks.

The graphics probably kick ass, but my comp is only 933mhz, but the game runs decently enough on it. Anyway, buy this game once it's out, Unreal is back.

Summary: Great game
Review: This game is a giant step forward in the Unreal Tournament series. Where UT 2003 lacked, UT 2004 more than steps up. I've only played the demo so far, and already I'm hooked!

Summary: T Casper?
Review: What do u mean ut2003 was little more than a tech demo. That is one of the best multiplayer games in the last 3 years. Amazing gameplay. How can u say u like 2oo4 and not 2003, not that much has changed. Take out onslaught mode, and its a little than a huge patch. Dont get me wrong I love the demo and have the game preorded beacause its awesome, but don't hate on ut 2003.

Summary: Amazed at only the Demo
Review: I was obsessed with the original UT and UT2K3 left me wanting more. UT2K4 is that more i was waiting for and with the addition of vehicles and huge outdoor environments, this one is gonna be a winner. Even with all the game settings turned up, this game runs like a dream. I can't wait for this one. I'm already addicted to the demo on a daily basis...download it and give it a try.

Summary: Too Complicated - UT2003 Better
Review: I downloaded the demo of UT2004 and was unimpressed. UT2003 was much, much better in my opinion.

I found the plot of UT2004 so complicated, I felt like I was taking some sort of IQ test - rather than playing a fun shoot 'em game. I use to play UT2003 for hours at a time. I played the demo of UT2004 once, and never touched it again. I was glad I saved my money.

The graphics are very impressive, though.

If you're into high-end strategy games like Myst, then you'll love this game. Otherwise, save your money and get something else.

Summary: Demo is Fantastic... Looks much better than UT2003
Review: I highly recommend anyone remotely interested in PC gaming to download the UT2004 demo as soon as possible. When UT2003 was released nearly a year and a half ago, it was generally seen as a great game but just not quite up to par with the stellar original from 1999. I enjoyed UT2003, but I felt it could have been done better. I generally play Deathmatch when gaming online, and I have a blast with UT2003, but its maps sometimes leave something to be desired. Enter UT2004.

I downloaded the demo the night before last, and have been hooked since. The first thing you'll notice is that the menu system has been redone, and that the background music is a new rendition of the music from UT. This is a sign of things to come as gameplay has been stepped up to at least the level of the original, in my opinion. The new deathmath map, DM-Rankin, feels like it's straight out of the original UT but with the excellent graphics of the UT2003 engine. I can honestly say I've had more fun playing that map over the past day than I have with any of the maps from UT2003 over the past year! Everything is very fast-paced and weapons are abundant, bringing back the old chaotic feel that we all hoped would return in UT2003, but instead were given more open maps like DM-Antalus that were nice to look at and even offered strategic gameplay, but things weren't always moving at a great clip.

Beyond DM, I have played the CTF and BR maps once or twice, and they both seem very good, although they are so large that it will take a good 12-16 players (or more) to make gameplay interesting. What I really want to focus on, though are the Assault and Onslaught gametypes. The former is making a return from the original UT, while the latter is a completely new form that resembles Halo. Both are incredibly well-done and a blast to play in the demo. The assault map is every bit as good as many of the original favorites; rest assured that if you were a big fan of UT's assault mode, you have many, many hours of fresh new gaming fun ahead. As for Onslaught, I am simply amazed at the sheer size of the demo map, and even moreso that despite square miles of territory and dozens of vehicles driving/flying around, my GeForce4 Ti video card doesn't seem to have one bit of trouble keeping up with it all. Epic and Atari have done a great job of making sure that even mid-range systems will be able to render UT2004 just as well as UT2003, even with all the new additions. As for the gameplay in Onslaught, it can be summed up in one word: addictive. The games can drag on for very long periods of time due to the complexity of what's required to destroy the enemy's power core, but it's more than worth it. I definitely prefer this new mode to CTF and BR.

In summary, I am much more excited over this demo than I was over the UT2003 demo in September 2002. I can't imagine what more one could ask for; the Deathmatch map seems far better than anything from UT2K3, the beloved Assault mode has returned from the original game, and the new Onslaught mode is quite possibly the most fun I've seen from any action game in years. I can safely say that I'll be the first one in line to pick the retail version up on March 16.

Summary: DOWNLOAD THE DEMO
Review: download the demo from the game's website
and you can see for yourselves how this game plays
amazingly enough there are 100s of demo servers to play already
and make sure your card can handle it (mine is a Geforce2MX and its fine)

So far this game is nothing short of amazing
its truly what 2003 was supposed to be

Summary: This is not just another mindless shooter game.
Review: There are more things to do in UT2K4 than you can shake a stick at. With vehicles you can drive, fly and wreck, more weapons, new characters and game objectives, one almost needs a photographic memory to keep in mind all the tasks required to complete the different kinds of missions available. I am looking forward to this game like football fans look forward to the Superbowl. This game is the pinnacle of the First Person Shooter. Get ready.

Summary: Excited, but skeptical
Review: Ive been playing these fps's for a long time, say the better part of 7 years since the first quake, and with each new installment, I weep at the sight of over-the-top new additions. Such is my fear for Unreal 2004. I am absolutely petrified at the thought of vehicles being introduced to this game. Of course it will be an interesting thing to bring into the CPL to see how fatal1ty and everyone will use them, but I, long ago, fell in love with the purity of the quake/doom/unreal/halflife franchises. Im scared that because before you had so many things to do with so little, but with vehicles it may be that you have nothing to do with too much. Im just looking forward to a bunch of great pure mayhem that stays true to what's been best.
