Rating: Summary: 10 STARS! Review: Counter-Strike, Battlefield, Quake, Doom. Boom the heck out of them with your redeemer. Every once in a while, a decent fps game is made, Unreal Tournament, Counter-Strike, Metroid Prime, and now UNREAL TOURNAMENT 2004. For those of you unfamiliar with the Unreal Tournament series, here's a recap. It started on 1999. A lonely game that sat on the shelf, until like a million freaking people bought it and threw away their quake and doom games. It was superior in graphics, presentation, story, online play, controls, EVERYTHING! Then it came out for PS2, Then 2003 came out and it rocked, but missed the assault modes, ripper, hammer, sniper gun, pulse gun. but still it sold about a million copies. Then this one came out and now it's gonna sell a zillion copies! This games got everything: Bombing Run, Assault, DeathMatch, Team DeathMatch, Onslaught, CTF, Mutant, Double Domination, Last Man Standing, and Invasion. This games gots 2k3's weapons and 4 new ones. The avril, the sniper rifle, the mine launcher, and grenade launcher. You won't believe what you can do with the vehicles. It's crazy. I must of cut up and smashed a million people. There's like a hundred characters and 150 levels. If thats exicting, the single player campaign was freakin fun. Options everyone wants options and there's no shortage of options from this one. From the smallest tweaks to the size of the screen, it does it nicely. The controls and slick and fluid like any other unreal game. The vehicles are so easy to drive, it's like you played unreal for years. Trust me, when a game this good comes out, you have hold on to it. Buy a copy. You'll know what I'm talking about.
Rating: Summary: Much improved since UT 2004 and well worth the money... Review: Just some info for those of you who are still waiting to get the game or haven't ordered it... my advice... get it ASAP! The maps are great and there are tons of them and they're all extremely detailed. I'm running the game at 1600x1200 maxed out and smooth as silk on a FX 5900 (not even an ultra). I also run it on my laptop @ 1920 x 1200 maxed and it's smooth... not as smooth as the desktop but this is a radeon 9600 pro turbo but still very playable. For speed I turn down some of the video settings from highest to normal but still at 19x16. The speech does take a few minutes to train but once it's trained it works really well. I was able to command my bots to cover me, attack ,defend and out of 20 tries it missed one... probably because I was throwing some cuss words in there. :) Btw, you have to bind a key ('F' by default) to enable the chat. I tried it with Roger and the speech came out very clearly... although when we're both talking at the same time it does get a bit low. There's also text-to-speech translation. The web admin is awesome... we created groups and users so that we have admins, map changers, mod changers, etc. Tons of mods like the fathead mod, quad jump, gain health on kill, etc. The bonus DVD is well worth it.. not only does it show you how bots are made (which you can use to your advantage) but they have lots of tips and tricks for gameplay... such as key bindings and commands. There's a command called "playersonly" which (in single player mode) freezes everyone but you. It's like stopping time but you can walk around. While you're walking around you can see the particle trails from rockey launchers, sniper rifles, etc. Another command is to change the size of your player all the way from the size of a mice holding to a goliath... very funny. Try changing the speed of the game to make it 10x as fast and spectating a bot! The bonus DVD is 7.9GB so there's plenty more on there. I give the game 9/10 stars... It didn't get a 10 because there's room for improvement in configuring the game especially when setting up the server. There are just tons of options for the server setup which they didn't put in the web admin and left it in the .ini instead.
Rating: Summary: The start of a beautiful revolution... Review: Back in 1999, Epic games came out with one of the best games to that date. Everything about Unreal Tournament was gorgeous, the scenery, the guns, and the heads exploding off. But in 2003, Epic games released a game that was too demanding of the public. In the end, Unreal Tournament 2003 failed, with the price (50$) helping it. But, now that it is 2004, Epic games have redeemed themselves and came out with a great title. First off, you start of with a similiar graphics engine: beautiful. Epic has made an engine so that even the slowest machine could run it with ease. Want to see that head explode close up? Increase the resolution and your machine will never know the difference. The game revolves around team combat (duh), but in this series, without your team, your dead. Unreal 2004 has a new set up. In order to play in the tourny, you need to qualify. To qualify, you face other wannabe players. Each qualification round costs money to play (credits), and the more you win, the more credits you get. This setup really enhances the strategic and need to win and play the game. With Unreal 2004, the weapons are almost the same, with some new modifications. The only real difference are the vehicles. The vehicles provide a different strategy to win. In order to conquer your enemy's base, their beacons must be captured and then their core (in the base) must be destroyed. If you've played Battlefield: 1942, its like that. So, this really revolves around the team atmosphere. If you want an excellent game with great graphics and awesome gameplay, then this IS the game. I am addicted and cannot stop. Plus, the price is cheap: $30.00 to $40.00! It doesnt get any better than that, and neither does Unreal. Buy it, play it, love it.
Rating: Summary: MAYHEM !! Review: Todays the day, finally. UT2K4 rocks! It looks and plays like UT2k3. More weapons, more maps and vehicles. Great sound, looks great. Lots of ways to send your enemies to meet their maker. Let the MAYHEM begin.....
Rating: Summary: The best bang for your buck game! Review: Brand new engine is very beautiful, very customizable, and accessible to lower end PC's. Everyone can run it! 10 types of games. Several of them are brand new. So far my favorite is "Invasion" You, and a group of soldiers get attacked by a group of monsters, and must kill them all. Another group of monsters come, except they are bigger, and more of them, ect... Online co-op play is very well done. The game ships with over 100 maps, and a handful of mutators, this is more than enough, and the community will create even more, you'll never have to worry about getting bored with the levels or gameplay. There are TONS of character models to choose from, not just the typical soldiers, but also large and small robots, aliens, monsters, excellent variety. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, the game is worth every penny and then some.
Rating: Summary: Return of the Unreal Tournament Review: Those of you who hated UT2003 and loved the orginal UT, yes I was one of them, your game is here. This captures the essence of the original. Better music, more weapons, sniper rifle is back! Don't forget the main reason that kept me from UT03, no assualt mode. Well, its back! And it is good indeed. Not to mention the announcer sound like the original, and that is a good thing. To sum it up, UT2004 is the sucessor to UT that UT2003 SHOULD have been. It is worthy of being the next UT.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: The demo was absolutely amazing. Can't wait to play wtih the mods and new game modes in the full version. Don't judge it by the poor quality of UT2k3, it's much better. The true sequal to UT. I can run it at 16x12 max qual. on my laptop, 2.8 p4 HT, 1 gig dual chan ddr400, radeon 9600 128 meg card. Just beautiful. Performs well online too. Vehicles were very much what they were missing. Even have a warthog :P
Rating: Summary: Move over, MOH Review: Okay, I can't go in great depth about this game: I only have the demo. However, even the demo is mind blowing. This is my first Unreal, and I'm truly impressed. Gameplay: Great. Never been on single player, but multiplayer is really fun! You can customize everything, and the game is really friendly to noobs like me. Weapons? Incredible. They are very detailed, even with my bad monitor. Can't wait to try it with a new vid card. BUY THIS GAME!!! It is the best. No doubt.
