Summary: The next best thing to being in the hot seat...
Review: I know, because I've been there! The way the game builds up the tension as the questions increase in value is surprisingly effective. The built-in pauses between the time of your response and Regis' response can be maddening--just like on the show. Design-wise, the game has the same elegant player interfaces that Jellyvision used in "You Don't Know Jack," so it's simple and fast to learn. Music and sound effects are taken directly from the show's soundtrack, which adds to the authenticity. A few minor downsides: The questions repeat a bit too soon; the Fastest Finger round could have been better designed; and why couldn't they have used the same type font for the questions as the show? Those are all relatively minor quibbles, though. Whether or not you ever make it to the show, this is a great (and reasonably priced) way to duplicate the "real experience" at home.

Summary: Fun, but could be better
Review: Let's think about experience for a moment. Are we trying to give the customer an experience in the hot seat, or are we just trying to push out a trivia game with Regis' face on it just to make a buck?

This game does not flow like the TV show at all. Regis doesn't ask the questions, the 30-second timer is obnoxious, and the pauses between every question for a comment from Regis get tiresome... especially during the first 5 questions that are supposed to be quick and easy. (emphasis on easy)

The game is not without merit, though. The phone conversations are sometimes humorous to listen to, maybe a bit overdone and Regis' wise-cracks when you lose are appropo. Aside from the first 5 questions, the pace of the game is about right.

However, when trivia games like "You Don't Know JACK" do an excellent job of putting me in the hot seat, then I would tend to expect more from a game that carries the name "Millionaire".

Summary: Great Experience -- Content Lacking
Review: This game does as well as it can to replicate the TV experience. Regis' voice and videos, lifelines just as on the show, the whole works. But you'd better enjoy it, because the "replay value" is minimal. There are only about 600 questions here, and that means that after about 20 games, you will be seeing a lot of repeat questions, enough to really spoil the fun.

On a CD there should be room for many thousands of questions. But the use of audio files for the "phone-a-friend" lifeline likely eats up a lot of the available space. If they were all authentic, some people might judge it worthwhile. But most of them seem to be the silly "psychic hotline" responses, and these are definitely not worth it.

At ..., it still makes sense for fans of the show to give this a shot -- just be aware that you'll only get a week or two of enjoyment out of it. If you want a larger database of questions, consider the board game at ..., which *does* have several thousand questions.

Summary: Much More better
Review: As probably the only fan of the TV show that I know of, I couldn't wait to purchase #2. We already owned no.1 and I like it, so I got my chanc4e when they went on sale. Although I do better on the computer than I do playing along with the TV; (I have too much of a life to log on while watching the real show on TV) I find the questions tougher on the PC especially the first five.

My wife said that when everyone gets sick of Regis, and they cancel the show , they'll be giving these away. And she was right: For a while they had the full-version (not a demo) CD Rom inside of Specially marked cereal boxes. (I'M not kidding).

All in all, an excellent game, one of my favorites. The negative comments from others, are well taken; I agree with some, but that doesn't bother me.

Summary: Awful!
Review: The questions are IMPOSSIBLE to answer - especially with the stupid time limit (which, correct me if I'm wrong, ISN'T on the show) -- The first $100 question I was asked was which popular singer is referred to as the Chairman of the Board...

Silly questions - WAY to hard to answer... stupid game. And Regis Philbin is the most annoying man alive!

Summary: It's worth the money
Review: Millionaire second addition is a good game. I probably would not want to sit around alone playing it but if you have a few people it's fun. I ordered this game for my mother because she lives for Regis and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?". She isn't really into computer games so I thought she'd like to try it. She absolutly loves the game. It is a very simple game to play. When you start the program it just goes right into the game instead of confusing option pages (confusing for the not so computer literate). The price is right too. I'm sort of surprised that Regis didn't hit me up for $40 or $50 for the game. It would not be worth that price anyway. I have not run into repeat questions on this version, but I have only played it a few times. One thing that I didn't really like was the opening speed round. I thought it could have been a little better. However, I would suggest this game. It's very simple to play even for people who don't know how to use computers. So let's play:

"Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" !

Summary: Very entertaining, but slightly flawed
Review: As soon as I viewed the first TV episodes of Millionaire last year, I knew that merchandise including a software production was inevitable. I wondered, though, at the success of the porting to CD-ROM, for the online game at abc.com is mediocre at best.

I decided against the first edition of the Millionaire software, but elected to purchase this second version. I was not disappointed. The variety of questions is just as deep as on the TV show, and even though no currency is distributed (obviously), the player still feels much tension.

This product is not flawless, however. Among the most annoying problems is Regis Philbin's often repetitive and annoying banter. Secondly, while the questions are broad, repeated inquiries seem to degrade the entertainment value of the game. Overall, however, this game is recommended. Especially for those who enjoy and are familiar with the television production, Millionaire proves an entertaining and fun software package.

Summary: Good Game
Review: This is a fairly good game. Some of the graphics get a little distorted at times, but they are pretty good. Some of the questions take a lot of time to think about it, but there is a 30 second time limit, so you have to think fast! The questions do start to repeat after you have played it for a while, but usually the questions don't repeat too often. I have three HP computers and this game works on all of them so the compatibilty shouldn't be an issue. Overall, this is a good game if you are looking for some entertainment, but you still want to learn something when playing the game!

Summary: HORRIBLE!
Review: I bought this game about a year ago for a good price...but guess what it's done for a year. It's sat on my shelf and collected dust. If you haven't gotton my point already...THIS IS A TERRIBLE GAME! First of all, if you think Regis is annoying on T.V.... Also, the questions are almost IMPOSSIBLE to answer. (However, I am only a kid, so adults might argue with that last comment.) Also, if you don't answer the fastest finger question right after a few tries, the game exits! All in all, even though this game is priced good, it's REALLY bad. I'd give it -5 stars if I could.
