Summary: Excellent
Review: Once you get the game to play, this maybe the best translation of a board game to the PC. Game play is good, and as a long-time scrabble player, it is really convienent not to have to look for pieces and draw tiles manually. Plus being able to save games in progress.

One word of warning: If you have trouble clicking to start menus (like I did), turn off your main word processor program before you load and run Scrabble. That helpful hint came from the Hasbro web page FAQ. In addition, they have patches and upgrades available. After having returned games twice to the store, I discovered this trick and I didn't have to run the mouse over the screen to erase the old menu to get to the new one.

All in all, Hasbro does a really good job translating their board games on to the PC. I recommend that if you enjoyed the board games, you'll love the PC versions.

Summary: Scrabble is now Exciting?
Review: Scrabble 2 makes the first version look prehistoric in comparison. The new version has sound effects, selection of jazz tunes, animated Maven (computer opponent and Judge), optional board styles, a dictionary and suggestion lists. I never wanted to play the original board game but now I do and its a lot of fun. Great game for kids and adults. You will definitely learn some new words. Scrabble is finally fun! Definitely get this one, dont make the mistake of buying the first version, unless you still have Windows 95. It is slow and you must change color displays if you have 98. If your into word games, you must own this!

Summary: Great classic game
Review: Scrabble CD-rom is the game that we all grew up with but updated so that you can play on your computer. There are 6 different skill levels and you can play many different type games including classic scrabble against the computer, other players (up to 4), tournaments, online and special new mini games.

The best way is to challenge "maven" the computer opponent. You can chose his skill level and increase it as you progress. The game also contains a dictionary so there is no arguing over which words are real.

To help you, there is a cheat/hint code in the game that you can take advantage of when you are stuck.

I have a Sony Vaio computer running windows XP and i had no trouble installing and playing this game. Scrabble CD rom is the classic game but made modern and more fun.

Summary: Scrabble Complete - Serious Problems Encountered
Review: System requirements for this game include Windows XP. It loaded up fine, but would produce a blank screen when I tried to run the program. I went to the Atari website where the FAQs advised that all programs running in the background would have to be closed. This means I would have to drop my virus scanner and firewall in order to play the game and I was unwilling to do so since I have an always-on connection.

I loaded, uninstalled and reloaded this program twice. It TOTALLY messed up my McAfee Security Center 6 program which (after multiple contacts with McAfee support) eventually required that I uninstall, and reload McAfee. I had to do this twice, once after each installation of Scrabble. Needless to say there will not be a third time.

I went to the Atari website and wrote a question to Atari tech support over a week ago and they have not replied.

Given the problems that it caused with McAfee, the fact it would not run, and the fact that tech support has not responded in over a week to my query, I would not recommend this program to anyone using an always on connection and firewall/virus scanner and would not recommend it to XP users as well.

Summary: cool
Review: This by far the best board-turned computer game on the market
The sound effects, graphics, backrounds, music, dictionary-
ALL PERFECT!
Except for one thing:

While in game play there is a menu, select the guides icon will
show the highest possible word currently available for use, you will find if use this even once you will be unable to stop, and the game will have the value of horse poop. The good thing is that this is not an option in tournement mode.
Hasbro has done it again, but please in future itterations, remove the frick'in cheat.

Summary: Excellent computer remake of the original boardgame
Review: This game is terrific. I love being able to play against others online. That feature basically just makes this whole game worth while to me. For a game like Scrabble this has very good graphics. The dictionary feature is very useful as well.

This is a great game for those rainy days, and where i live there are a lot of them :)

Summary: Excellent CD-ROM Game ..... Hours Of Scrabble Fun!
Review: This is an excellent game to play against your computer (Maven in this case). There's no better way to play the great classic game of Scrabble than on a computer! No lost tiles to deal with; no tiles to shuffle; no scorekeeping difficulties. All this is done for you! And the dictionary function is outstanding. Good graphics, background options, and sound effects as well. I feel that "Maven" has a distinct advantage over the average Scrabble participant here however, in that The Big M (Maven) ALWAYS knows those big, long, oddball-type words that you & I would never even consider plopping down! But it's fun when you can beat Maven, especially when it's set for a high skill level. Just keep in mind, Scrabble-philes, QWERTY is a valid word!
