Summary: zip tech support
Review: I had enjoyed an earlier version of this game and given it to a friend. I was looking forward to this new version, could load it, but when I tried to play, the computer froze. The tech support number (not a toll-free call), apparently (the operator checked--no conversation) takes their phone off the hook during 'operating hours' and gives instructions via robotic recording during other hours. E-mail was minimally responded to--acknowledged, that's all. I have long distance phone charges and shipping charges to pay for returning this game that probably was defective to begin with. I won't buy another Hasbro product.

Review: I have played Scrabble, the board game, for years and was really excited to begin playing the first Scrabble CD. I ventured to the MSN Gaming Zone and had more fun! Then someone online mentioned something about Scrabble 2.0, so I ordered it. Wow! Outstanding graphics, the tiles "click" just like the ones you hold in your hand, very well laid out with lots of accessories and provides a variety of interaction. While online, you can add emoticons and sounds! Lots of fun!

Summary: Fun, but know what you want!
Review: I love scrabble and this is a great way to play alone or against the computer. There's a wide range of skill levels for Maven (the computer). The mini "games" are really just ways to practice and polish your skills. They don't take as long and it's a nice change of pace. I was disappointed to find out that this game can't be played through E-mail, which is what I wanted. Only after I opened it, I found out that there's an E-mail Scrabble.

Summary: Scrabble V2.0 - No customer support = No game
Review: I purchased Scrabble V2.0 about eight months ago. Despite its quirks - computer challenges on words that are in its own online dictionary but "winning" the challenge anyway - it did help me greatly improve my score when playing with friends. I know that the ranking system in the CD is also far from accurate.

Problem is, however, that there no longer is customer support for this product even though it's listed as having it. After I reinstalled W95, I encountered a problem running the game. The problem had nothing to do with the well known colors issue. Online support didn't respond and their help line never puts you through to a real person. So, my Scrabble game is useless - just a warning for others considering purchasing the game.

Buyer beware.

Summary: Bad Customer Support
Review: I received my new Scrabble at Christmas and I've not used it yet. When I hit play, my screen goes black and an error message comes up. (I have a new computer.) I've e-mailed many times and tried calling (the phone number included with the instructions is not valid) but I've not received any support. However, they did send a response when I registered on-line - go figure.

Summary: Totally Addictive!
Review: I received this game as a birthday gift in August and not a day has gone by since then that I haven't played it. I was already a HUGE Scrabble player, but now I am totally 100% addicted. This game has greatly improved my skill and I love that I can increase the skill level as needed. I also like that I do not have to have anyone else to play with, but can just play against the computer. When I do play with other people now it is so much nicer playing on the computer - you never have to worry about missing tiles or cleaning up the tiles after you are finished. I was confident that this would be my last Scrabble purchase, but now that there is a new hand held Scrabble game I am not so sure...

Summary: EASY FIX FOR SCRABBLE2.0
Review: I too had the same problem as "A Gamer". Here's the five minute solution: go to hasbrointeractive.com, click on technical support at bottom of page, click patches page, click Scrabble version 2.0, click Scrabble2 patch.exe, run the program and then enjoy this fabulous game. Hope this helps.

Summary: By far the best version of Scrabble
Review: I was hesitant to get this program. I am not a frequent fan of Scrabble and felt that their earlier incarnations were sub-par. The 80's was just black and white and the Deluxe Version didn't take advantage of the technology (both are DOS). The Windows version before this came close, but resetting your color settings was annoying. This new version blows all previous versions out of the water. Finally, a choice of board views: slant or up and you can still easily read the word score tiles on the topside view (my favorite) and if you have the right soundboard, you will hear an orchestra of stupendous music. Please treat yourself to a soundboard (like the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz) it is fabulous! Of course, if you prefer, you can turn off the music. You have three choices of board styles, a MUCH better selection of background art (no more dark and dreary somber backgrounds like the last version!!!) and a more realistic selection of replacement tiles; just like playing for real. You can also select auto-pick or have the computer auto-pick for you. Scrabble fans must have wrote in with suggestions on improving the game (I hope!) and it looks like they've listened. I hope they listen to that disappointed player who said they couldn't get tech support for it. I saw a patch for it at hasbrointeractive.com, but I think the patch solves mainly multiplayer issues, and not the ones the disappointed player has. I sincerely hope the problems for that person are resolved, as this is a great game, giving you more choices, more realistic play and is greatly entertaining.

Summary: Do NOT buy this game for Windows XP
Review: My son bought Infogrames/Atari/Hasbro Scrabble v2.0 for me as a gift. The game has a faulty copy protection scheme - it requires the CD to be in the drive to play, but then fails to recognize that the CD is present. I spent hours trying to get this game to work because I didn't want my son to feel bad about the gift he gave me.

Infogrames tech support was worse than useless (their toll support number is disconnected, they take 4-5 days to respond to email and advise you to reconfigure your entire computer to play the game - worse, the game still did not work after following their advice and removing all TSR's, changing the start up routine, changing video settings, etc).

I finally downloaded a noCD program for GameCopy.com and was able to get the game to start, but it then would produce a black screen and hang the computer (cold boot required). At that point I cut my losses and threw the thing out.

If you don't believe me, check out the online knowledge base at www.infogrames.com - the list of potential problems and proposed solutions for this game is extensive (and none of the solutions worked in my case). It may be cheap, but that only means it's not worth the time and effort to return it for a refund!
