Summary: moving backwards
Review: Well JTL was released obviously to keep people interested in the Core game Starwars Galaxies after games such as World of War Craft and Ever Quest 2 were released. This was obviously a huge failure.

The game is a complete waste of time and JTL is a complete waste of money. This expansion pack might keep you interested for about one week until you reach the point where each mission takes at least an hour to complete, and is so boring you will want to cry by the end of it.

One word I can easily sum up this expansion pack with is "contentless" which seems to be the popular trait used by SOE for years. Sorry to say, I thought JTL would save SWG, but it didn't, it only made it worse. You can find me in both WoW and EQ2, but you wont find me in SWG ever again.

Summary: Excellent game, if your a Star Wars fan.
Review: All right, if you're a Star Wars fan and you have $15 bucks to spend a month then I would recommend you buy this game.
This game is great because it puts you right in the middle of the Star Wars universe. That's it, that is why this game is great. If you want to hop on a starship and go to Endor to visit the Ewoks you can. If you want to go visit the ancient Jedi runes on Dantooine you can. If you want to go the far reaches of space to battle some of the best pilots in the galaxy (though it takes awhile time to get to that level) you can.
Now this game is not for everybody. If you like fast pace games like First Person Shooters than this game is probably not for you, but if you are a true fan of Star Wars that is willing to take some time out of your day, you will probably love this game.
However, if you are want to play this game because you like to play MMORPG, this game isn't for you. Play Everquest or Final Fantasy and stop bashing this game.

Summary: Great Game. A good improvement for SWG
Review: I find this expansion great. It is one of the things that was missing from SWG. I recommend it.

Summary: This expansion pack kept me in the game longer
Review: I have been a long time fan and regular player of Star Wars Galaxies (since game launch in 2003). That's a long time to play one game - especially for a professional adult (who actually has a life outside of work and the game) - but hey this is STAR WARS!!! I was about to quit the game (I had been playing for a long time already and thought I should try another game) but then they came out with Jump To Lightspeed. I love it! No game is ever perfect but I have to say this expansion to Star Wars Galaxies is a GREAT addition to an already great game. This game is great for young people AND adults (particularly Star Wars fans from the 70's).

Summary: SWG-A lie far far away....
Review: I've played SWG, on and off, since release in August '03, it was fun until around December(a new record for a mmorg for me).

JTL: Controls seems ok, haven't tried using a controller. Works pretty smoothly in space. Missions in space are pretty simple, nothing fantastic. Haven't mastered a pilot prof yet, or tried to pvp in space, but seems like there could be alot of fun waiting. Simpler than the ground game in that there's only 3 space professions, but still variables from loot and player crafted ship components.

I mentioned that I've played awhile, and of course been waiting, patiently, for the combat balance for the ground game since Dec. '03. Imo, it is purely bad management that has put it off so long.

Another problem I have with the game is the lack of players. I don't think there's as many playing as there were at start, the ones left are really spread out now, player cities, space, ect. Not too bad once you know where to go.

I rated the game 4 stars cause I have had alot of fun playing (at release anyway), but 2 stars overall because the total lack of balance, or even a honest attempt to balance gameplay so far. Why? I don't know.

Summary: It is awesome
Review: If you like the Star Wars universe and want to fly around in authentic ships shooting NPCs or your fellow PvPers, then this is a pretty good expansion. It added a couple of races to the game, and the ability to become a pilot or shipwright so there is some new content, not enough in my opinion to keep a lot of people that were bored with regular SWG sticking around until the next expansion comes out.

This is space, and there was a lot of potential here that didn't get tapped. When approaching a space station you have the option to land on a planet or repair your ship. You can't enter the space station, walk around, get missions, talk to NPCs, shop, have some drinks or do a little gambling. There are no new planets to fly to and explore, even though the SW universe has hundreds of planets to choose from. Mining asteroids for rare materials was talked about as something players wanted for artisans with special ship attachments, but that was never added. Shooting down a freighter doesn't yield interesting cargo - maybe some credits, or an engine or shield part. Hard core SW fans will love the game. Those who have been holding on to SWG in hopes of some new content to keep them occupied will find a few good hours of play, but I don't think it will be enough to keep them with the game. It's sad that the Christmas shopping season cuts short so many good ideas from being implemented.

Summary: SWG is betting everything on JTL
Review: Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) was launched with a great deal of fanfare last summer. It was fairly well received - despite the extreme number of bugs that plagued the game from the very first day. Fans of the Star Wars genre and veteran online players alike were both impressed by the shear potential of the game. The SWG Development Team at Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) went through a trial by fire last fall and this spring where the fans of SWG hope they learned their lessons.

SWG itself is poised for Publish #9 on June 22, 2004 - wherein the vaunted revamp of the entire "Jedi system" will be begun (the original system that was shipped with the game was a complete failure involving monotonous "grinding" of skills.)

This is the first step that will continue with the complete overhaul of the combat system and the player vs. player war (or "Galactic Civil War") system. Both of these systems have been completely redesigned - because again - the shipped versions were failures in every estimation (including the developers) once they were seen in the field.

The final step to this overhaul will be the launch of the Space Expansion in this expansion package - "Jump to Lightspeed". Untold numbers of current SWG members have put their accounts on hold awaiting JTL. SOE is literally gambling everything on this expansion. Should JTL be plagued with the same numbers of bugs and system failures as the initial version - all those fans that have "hung on" or return for JTL will in all likelihood finally surrender.

So over the next few months SOE has this last chance to put all of the lessons they've learned into effect and achieve the game its fans are hoping for. They have a waiting audience eager for the resurrection of SWG that JTL represents.

Summary: Does not play! crashes PC 100% of the time.
Review: The game crashes my machine when I try to play. Considering that I can not play this game at all, I consider this to be a complete failure!

Summary: Main game unfinished
Review: The main game (which you need to play this expansion) is very buggy, it's unfinished and extremely unbalanced. In short it's no fun at all. The developers are ignoring their own customers by releasing this expansion while the main game is in such a poor state, full of huge KNOWN problems.

Stay away from this expansion until the main game is fixed. Trust me, you don't want to waste your money on SWG in its current state.

Summary: Core game unfinished
Review: The main SWG game is unbalanced/unfinished, very buggy and incredibly boring after a month or two. The developers don't care about the opinions of their own customers and are trying to push out this expansion when 99% of the players are telling them to fix the main game before adding more bugs through an expansion. Stay away from this until the main game (which you must buy to use this expansion) is fixed through combat and galactic civil war publishes.
