Summary: Unique and inspiring
Review: This game has something for everyone. Having never played Myst I or II, I was happy to find that knowledge of these was not necessary. I enjoyed the cut videos, and the anticipation of more interactions with the theif, he's a good actor (it's a real guy). The game can be played using the mouse to navigate everywhere with ease. I found many of the puzzles frustrating and difficult. I had to cheat more than I would like to admit. The thrill was alive as I hunted for clues in a colorful pinball/roller coaster type world, explored fantastic exotic forests and an eerie deserted cave world. There is a feeling of actually being in the world you are exploring. The music is well done. I really loved this game! Good ending if you are merciful.

Summary: Awsome game but does not work on XP
Review: This game is worth getting just for the music. I had searched aroud a bit before buying, got all hyped up to buy it only to find that it does not work on Windows XP. The support website certifies this and also says they have no plans to fix this. IF YOu HAVE XP DO NOT BUY THIS! or else it will sit somewhere collecting dust. Stinks doesn't it
Lucky for me I have a Windows 98 that I can play this on. If you are aquainted with Riven or Myst this game is very different. by moving the mouse you can rotate the view as you play. Look left, right, spin in circles...whatever. As far as the game itself. It's not as hard as Riven. But nothing in this world is as hard as Riven. If anything it is more similar to Myst. There is a main island and smaller islands accesed through linking books but we're not looking for pages now.
I completly reccomend this game unless you have XP, or you computer happens to be slow. I personally like that it is a bit easier. It makes the game more manegable. I know you want it even the box is georgous.

Summary: Time well spent!!
Review: Exile was an exceptionally good game, having awesome graphics, a beautiful soundtrack, and challenging but not impossible puzzles. Having played both Myst and Riven several times, I really looked forward to Myst3, and was not at all disappointed. I have a new computer with Windows XP and Quicktime and have just recently used it to play the original Myst (1993), RealMyst (2000) and Riven (1997) using the CD Rom drive, and Myst3:Exile (2001) using the DVD drive, and had no trouble at all. For comparison, the only game I have played to rival Myst3:Exile's graphics was RealMyst; and the only game I've played to compare to Exile's puzzles was Schizm (though at times, Schizm was impossibly difficult and I had to cheat a bit to complete it). Exile requires patience, thoughtfulness, and persistence but is well worth the effort.

Summary: Dissapointing
Review: When I bought it I was expecting another game like Riven, but I was let down. It is by all accounts a beautiful game, with awesome graphics, but the new scrolling thing gets you pretty dizzy after a while. But what really disapointed me was the lack of storyline. You end up skipping back to Atrus sons problems. As far as I'm concerned we got rid of them in the original Myst and don't want to dwell with thier phycopath problems anymore. Plus the game was too short, and the puzzles to easy. But if really loved the first two games your going to have to play this one too, just to see for yourself.

Summary: Great Sequel
Review: When my daughter invited me to play Myst 3 with her I was pretty skeptical, but after a few minutes was entirely hooked. Soon my wife joined us and we have spent many days together wending our way through this delightful environment. Not being a hardcore gamer, the puzzles would have been way too time consuming for me. My daughter seemed challenged by them without being overwhelmed and solved them within a reasonable time limit (I don't like to spend days solving a puzzle. I'm more interested in the overall experience). The ample visual and aural clues not only help solve the puzzles but tell an interesting story. The highest praise I can give is that when the game is complete, I look forward to playing the game again.

Summary: WARNING DO NOT BUY
Review: WARNING: Holiday season is upon us - The DVD version of this game (EXILE) as well as its sequals MYST and RIVEN do not work with Windows XP especially if you have Quicktime 3.0 or higher. We contacted the company though thier website and they have no intention of upgrading or providing drivers for said games to accomodate users. By their own suggestion at CYAN and RED-ORB and PRESTO is if you have purchased these games and they do not work take them back to the store and see if you can get your money back. Unless the compatibilty with any game produced by this company specifically says it is XP compatible DO NOT PURCHASE IT> Thanks

Summary: Thoroughly Wonderfull, Thoughtfull game
Review: This game is the best of the Myst games, and I found it to be easier in a way than the other two. It is still very challenging, but in a logical way. You can solve this game through close observation of the worlds, the charachters, and clues. There are a few puzzles which may seem random trial and error if you haven't found the clue yet, but you may later realise it was right in front of you. As with the first two, you will find much needed information in journals.

The beauty of the imagery is incridibly breathtaking. I found myself lost in these worlds with a feeling of really being there. This game also has 360 degrees of view at any location, which is more realistic than the play of the previous two games.

The intence drama of the game also pulls you in, and you are actually able to take part in this, rather than simply observe. You also have choices as to how you would handle the conclusion, and different conclusions to the game as a result. The only drawback I found to the endings is that there was only one truly happy ending to the story. I would have liked to see at least one more happy ending.

I eagerly await another addition to the Myst series.

Summary: Slightly Dissapointing, but still great
Review: Played it, liked it, but it was way too easy. Finished it over one weekend. Also, unlike Riven, exile has much more linear gameplay. Those of you who didn't like walking around without a clue in Riven and Myst will probably like this, but I rather enjoyed the satisfaction of cracking something after a week of trying that I got especially from Riven. Excellent background music, and good graphics. I'd definitely recommend it though.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Completely Uninspired
Review: Had they started with this installment, the Myst series never would have gotten off the ground. While the 360 free-look engine is really nice, it is absolutely the only thing to recommend this game. The first episode was simply a revelation. Riven gave us an incredible integration of narrative and truly environmental puzzles. Exile adds nothing but the latest technology. It's a poor imitation made without vision or inspiration.
