Summary: *****Myst 3 beats Riven by a LONG SHOT!!*****
Review: If you liked Riven then you are guaranteed to LOVE Myst 3: Exile! The graphics are beautifully stunning since everything is completely pre-rendered(All 3D, no flat images), the 360 degree rotation makes getting around ten times easier than it was in Myst & Riven, and the puzzles are still as equally fun & challenging. However, if your computer lacks some of the system requirements that the game requires be prepared to be dissapointed. My computer is a top of the line pentium 4 and of course Myst runs beautifully on it, but on my friend's older computer it looked horrible and ran too slowly. Also, a word of advice: ***No matter how confused or stumped you are at any point in the game NEVER EVER EVER look in the help books!!*** I got about half way through Riven on my own until I finally gave up and went out to buy the official strategy guide for help. I used it throughout the entire 2nd half of the game and felt like a big looser for cheating and giving up so easy. I'm not making the same mistake on Myst 3 and so far I've gotten through 3 worlds on my own. It *IS* possible to figure out the game without these guides, so as long as you are willing to use your brain and NOT GIVE UP! You'll feel very proud of yourself to know that you got all the way through without anyone's help! Anyway, Good luck and have fun!

Summary: not as good as myst or riven
Review: Exile was a lot of fun and IS BETTER than most other adventure games, but doesn't live up to the standards set by myst or riven.

The good:
1> The interface. Much better than myst or riven. Much more imersive. Fun to look around.
2> Localized puzzles. Don't have to trek back and forth endlessly between locations to solve puzzles.
3> Acting: The "bad guy" is good.
4> Graphics and animations. NOT ALL GOOD, but some very cool looking stuff.

The bad:
1> To easy. This game seems to have been dumbed down quite a bit. Maybe I am just getting better at myst type games, but I think the puzzles were too easy.
2> Acting: Atrus (..) bad.
3> Short and Small: The game as a whole and the ages (levels) felt small.

The Ugly:
1> Costumes and props. Some were OK but a lot looked pretty cheesey (especially the clearly plastic fred flinstonesque hammer wielded by Saavedro in the last level - his outfit was pretty bad on that level also)
2> Graphics. OK, some graphics were great (all the CG animations were impressive), but there was some pretty ugly stuff too.

Final thoughts.
Buy this game anyway, especially if you played previous games - just manage your expectations and have fun with it. If there was no myst or riven I would give this game 5 stars because it is clearly superior to any other adventure game out there today.

Summary: Beautiful, captivating, and all around spectacular.
Review: This game has it all: a terrific plot, unparalelled graphics, superb acting, fun and mind bending puzzles. Beyond that even, Myst 3 introduces a new level of gaming that borders on transcendental. The imagery and video sequences are haunting. I finished this game two days ago and am still thinking about it. It is great fun to play, and has a real message about the decisions we make in life.

Summary: Myst 3 has bugs that will not allow us to play it
Review: We purchased Myst 3 [...] and so far have not been able to play it due to bugs in this version. It seems that it is not comptable with older video cards. Although we run a AMD-200 with a Fusion 16 Meg card, the program crashes and leaves us with an S3 video message. Checking with UBI Soft, they seem to be aware of this bug but have not written a patch yet. Thus, this game gets 1 star for failing to even load correctly and we are out [money] for purchasing a pre-order copy.

Summary: Myst 3: Exile
Review: Beware of the lovely packaging on this game...I've owned this game for 2 weeks now and have yet to be able to run it. The manipulations have included downloading Ubisoft's 1.2 game patch and discovering the patch itself won't run. I'm no computer pro but with Myst and Riven I was able to set up my computer to deal with game quirks. This software seems to be at an entire different level of poor software design especially for a game that's pitched to the masses. Buy something else or play Riven or Myst again.

Summary: Exile- Myst III missed the "Riven" mark
Review: I loved Riven and enjoy the Adventure and Puzzle style games. I was eager to play my waiting-list copy of Myst III, but I've learned to read the manual first. I followed all the suggestions, like visiting the website of my sound/video card vendor for the latest drivers. I still experienced a few problems (like both my CD-ROM drives wanting to get into the act). I just learned the work-arounds. My first impression of Myst III was it's natural transition from Riven. The Free Look Mode was a bit too much for me at first, but I grew to like it. The music and arts/graphics were superb. The acting scenes were well done and Myst III also has a fantastic joy-ride, but not as many as Riven (a sort of good thing, since they take-up a lot of time). Myst III also has the multi-endings depending on your choices. The quality and quantity of puzzles, however, were not on the same level as Riven. Maybe it was because I had cultivated that brand of problem solving skill, but I do think the puzzles were easier. I finished in half the time I thought it would take. In a nutshell, I'm glad I played it. I would recommend it. I would love to link to the next sequel.

Summary: Myst III does not disappoint
Review: I am every bit as intrigued with Myst III as I was with the original Myst--super graphics, simple interface, intuitive puzzles, plenty of surprises. A worthy sequel to the greatest computer game ever!

Summary: Intoxicating but too short - 12 hours only
Review: Intoxicating scenes, a story line that I could follow, and puzzles that were maybe just a little too simple. It would have been perfect if they had only thrown in another dozen puzzles or more.

Summary: MYST 3-EXILE
Review: I dont know what the problems other people are having but on my computer this game runs fine. I have a compaq presario with 433mhz intel celeron,96mb ram,and a AGP PRO GRAPHICS CARD,3D 360 DEGREES VIDEO GAME CAPABILITY AND A YAMAHA SOUND DRIVER.I am not real good on technical terms but this game is running fine on what I have. It seems to me that most of the people are having problems with systems that have multiple drivers like DVD,CD-RW,and so on.I hope UBI comes up with the patches quickly because this is a very good game. But I still liked MYST and RIVEN better.

Summary: good game, high cheez factor
Review: i was psyched when my girlfriend bought myst III. she and i played through riven together in about a week of late nights after work and had a total blast so it was with great anticipation that we loaded up the new CDs and let 'em rip. initially the video didn't work at all (atrus talked REALLY FAST and sounded like a duck... cute) but fixed itself when we installed the latest version of quicktime on her powerbook g4. once we got going we had a good time but compared to riven the game was kind of a letdown. many of the puzzles were not only simpler but less elegant in our opinion and the designers' attempt to anchor the backstory using the INCREDIBLY overwrought brad dourif were at best laughable and at worst as annoying as h*%l! myst and riven sketched the story and then let you work out the details, exile beats you over the head with it which greatly decreased our enjoyment. still, edanna was one of the most beautiful places i have ever visited - virtual or otherwise - and it felt good to immerse ourselves once again in the world of myst. my advice to the designers for next time: 1) don't wait so long, 2) send brad to over-acters anonymous and 3) design the puzzles like you really mean it.
