Summary: Yet another Myst Masterpiece!
Review: First off, I have a small request: Could people please just review the *game* and not rant about system specs and compatibility issues? Jeez, you'd think this was a tech support forum!Anyway, being an avid fan of the original Myst I really loved this game (I somehow never got around to playing Riven, but trust me, it's on my to-do list). Exile has the same surreal feel that the original Myst did, with beautiful graphics and a soul-stirring score, and expands it with the free-look option. Technically speaking it's amazing, and it helps the game feel more fluid and less choppy. In addition, the free-look feature allowed them to hide parts of puzzles better. The puzzles are pretty tricky (with a few notable exceptions), so I don't recommend this for little kids, but I had a lot of fun with it and only needed outside help once. The 4-part ball puzzle in Armateria totally rocks my world. My only real complaints are: The villain's preformance is totally over-acted and I was really tired of seeing him by the end of the game. Personally, I think they should have just cut all his holographic messages and just let you learn about him through his paintings, journal writings, and your final confrontation with him. Also, Exile is rather short; all in all it's about 80% as long as the original Myst, and for 4-CD's I was kinda hoping for something longer than Myst, not shorter. In the end, however, these are minor issues in an otherwise excellent game.

Summary: Needs Macintosh Patch
Review: I had no trouble navigating Myst and Riven. This game seems very unstable on my Macintosh. Perhaps a patch for Macintosh, which has been promised since May 2001 will make a fan of me.

Summary: OK OK, I'm a believer!
Review: I wrote an earlier review blasting the developers for pulling this game a little too green. But now that I have downloaded the patch, it is running beautifully. And I must say, this is a VERY GOOD game! I find it MUCH more enjoyable and interesting than Riven - much more immersive, to a great extent because of the quality of the music and the surprisingly imaginative "ages." If your experience with Riven and some other games had caused you to give up on adventure games as a genre, you might want to give Exile a try. It's a good piece of work.

Review: Three and a half years ago I bought a computer for my home. After a month or so when I got tired of playing solitare I ventured into a software store to inquire about a game. I explained that years ago I had played a game called ZORK on a friend's computer that was a puzzle game I enjoyed. I told the salesperson all these here tended to be shoot em' up type games. Could he recommend something for me? He handed me a copy of Myst and said that years ago it was a big seller. I deceided to give it a try. Well after getting the hang of what I was supposed to do I fell in love with Myst. I encouraged everyone I knew to get a copy. It was great. I couldn't stop raving about it. Then I bought Riven and got through most of the puzzles but couldn't get through all of them. After 3 years of on and off play I finally broke down and bought the stragety guide (it was on sale for a buck). I have just purchased Myst III and it is not as easy as everyone says it is. It is harder than Myst but not as impossible as Riven. (although I might be singing a different tune as I am only in Jnanin and so far have only figured out how to get into one other age). The graphics are great but I must admit that it took me a while to get used to the movement of the world. Being able to look everywhere is great but I found that if I moved too fast I was actually making myself sick (you can liken it to someone who shoots a home video with a shaky hand). Now I am more paced so I don't have the problem as much. I also have to admit that when Myst III came out I read the requirements needed to run it. It was then I knew that an upgrade was needed. I bought a Dell 8100 (pent. 4, 32mb video card, 256k ram). No problems-runs flawlessly in 3-D mode. For all of you who have been fans of Myst and Riven and can't run this one-my heart goes out to you. I know you must be extremely frustrated. If you have the right system this is a must have game. If you haven't played the other two then I suggest getting first Myst and then Riven and then moving on to Myst III. Not as great as Myst because I feel the magic can never truly be captured again. Lets face it, the first time for most magically moments are usually the highest. (I said most-not all). Ok now I am in a couple of week and I don't like it as much. I went into the nature world and some of the paths are really very hard to find (specifically one in a log). I have just gone into the energy world and its not as intutitive as you would think. Not as much fun as the orginal myst.

Summary: A Fun Sequel to the Myst Saga, but so far Riven is better
Review: The best part of the game is the beginning sequence, because it quickly draws you into the game world. You're greeted by Atrus--by now you two are old buddies. As he's about to show you a new age he wrote, an unexpected visitor arrives...and you find yourself once again "exiled" in a strange new world. However, once you stay in that world for a while, it begins to feel a bit stagnant. Though the puzzles are perhaps more challenging than Riven (the prequel), it does not always make sense how they fit into the gameworld. Riven's puzzles were an integral part of the plot, and you could feel the villanous Gehn's presence wherever you went--you were always looking over your shoulder. The graphics are excellent,however I think I've been spoiled by the realtime 3D graphics of RealMyst, and would like to see more of that. All in all, it's still a fun game, but if you're new to the Myst world, play Riven first.

Summary: its nice not great but nice
Review: i like myst and myst 3 this Atrus guy writes up worlds baisicly every thing in it and he can write any thing he needs so in myt 3 he's writing a new age but he suspects someones been linking into his study now hes all obsessed with locking evrey thing up so this dude has to buy locks think about it any way thats not my point it starts with a nice visit atrus says he wants to introduce you to the d'ni all of a sudden this weird lookin phsyco dude links in the study you know the drill this wheeeeeew sound and this freaky guy comes in and breaks the bubble thingy and grabs the book, sets the place on fire ,disappears and im thinkin "not again" so you have to follow him im still tryng to figure out the game but what can i say im nine im just learning my times table and this game wants you to be a genius how am i supposed to figure out how to open up a door by using only light ....personally i dont like this manual i mean it leaves you clueless ....

Summary: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Review: I wasn't going to bother writing a review, until I read another review stating that if the game doesn't work it's because I'm too computer-illiterate or I have a cheap system!! My computer meets, and in face, exceeds the requirements listed on the box, and yet the game will not run properly. I managed to return it to the store after producing emails from the publisher stating that they are aware that more testing needed to be done, they know there are lots of bugs, yet they don't know if it can or will be fixed at any time in the near future. If the game runs on your system great, but it's a gamble. Check out the tech support forum on the myst 3 official site before you spend your money. And yes, it does deserve to have its ratings lowered, it should not have been released in its current state.

Summary: The best game I have ever played!
Review: The best graphics EVER! And I have played a LOT of games, believe me (just finished the Longest Journey). Myst3 Exile is the equivalent the movie Matrix is for DVD's. Everyone that buys a new DVD plays Matrix first to test the performance of the player since Matrix is one of the most demanding movies. The same goes for Myst3 Exile. If you really want to know what your system is worth just play this game. Now some hardware issues for the frustrated reviewers and for potential buyers: 1) I have tested the game with both Nvidia TNT2 and Nvidia Geforce256 and I had no problems whatsoever. I didnt even had to download the new drivers from Nvidia. If you have problems go to ... ... and download the Detonator drivers. 2)I installed DirectX 8.0 and had no problems with the game. 3)My motherboard is the ASUS p3V133 and had no problems at all. 4)My soundcard is Creative SoundBlaster PCI 128. I downloaded the drivers ... ...No problems. 5)128Mbytes of RAM is just fine. I have smooth animation and perfect videos. Pentium III at 600MHz is more than enough. So, If you have similar hardware, chances are that you will have no hard time installing and playing the game.And as always, try to minimize the amount of programs that run in the background. Summary: MYST 3 EXILE DON'T WORK
Review: THIS GAME DOES NOT OPERATE THE WAY THE USERS MANUAL SAYS. IT HAS MORE PATCHES THAN MY PANTS. THEY CANNOT FIX MY PROBLEM WHICH DOES NOT LET YOU SAVE GAMES THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO. PLAYED MYST 1 AND RIVEN WITH NO PROBLEM.

Summary: breath taking
Review: This game is great for two reasons: 1) it actually worked on my computer! 2) it keeps with the expectations of Myst and Riven fans. Of course the scenery is gorgeous and haunting, and the soundtrack accompanies the game perfectly. My only dislike is that the game is more like Myst than Riven and Riven was my favorite of the two. Other than that-it's perfect.
