Summary: Good Game and worth buying.
Review: I bought this a few months ago, and my daughter and I are addicted. Whenever her friends come over, they want to play, too. The Livin' Large is a good add-on (a bit pricey for what you get), which gives you a lot of additional things to buy (including some retro-style furniture and clothing). Three things I don't like: 1. Neighborhood is too small thus limiting the number of "Friends". 2. I wish you could take 100% control of them if you want without them going off to do something while you're working with another Sim. 3. Going to the bathroom can take 30 minutes! There are some things that just take forever to do.All in all, a good game and disappointment is not a problem.

Summary: Fun, but addictive
Review: This is a elaborate game, with many details, and it quickly becomes addictive. I only notice one somewhat annoying flaw. With the complex animation, sometimes it takes the Sims ten minutes or more to make a bed or walk from one end of the house to another. This create problems, especially with maids in a big house, as they pay by the hour.

Summary: The Sim in the Mirror
Review: Yes, this game is wonderful to look at, and the music and voices (and, in fact, all of the little things) are funny and imaginative. I was swept away when I first viewed the game. Still, I must say that I have been bored, bored, bored by the tedia surrounding my Sims' lives. Sure, blame it on me. Maybe I could do more to get my favorite Sim, Winkie Waddle, into situations and relationships that would lift his spirits more. But when you look at the boundaries this game puts on Sim lives, it starts to look like SimPenitentiary. Paying bills, taking out garbage, peeing, etc. are funny extras the first couple times you play. But aside from BUYING THINGS and REARRANGING THINGS, there's nothing else to do here. Unfortunately, the game reinforces the empty consumerism at the heart of our culture. So much so, that when Winkie finally finds some solace playing games on his computer, I'm creepily awakened to my own isolation. Too often, the game provides eerie echoes of the dullest parts of my own life. Fascinating in its simulacral detail? Yes. Fun to play? I'm not so sure.

Summary: Sooooo Fun!!!!
Review: This game is so cool because you can build your own houses, and furnish them with all these different objects, then you can make people and put them in your house. You watch them do their thing, or you can tell them what to do. Ex. eat, go take a dump, read a book, go play pinball, talk to someone. It's really cool. And, you get jobs that eventually you'll get promotions, and the money you make from it, thats what you use to buy all the things. All I have to say is, you have to buy this game, it is the best game I've ever played!

Review: I have a very big imac and bought this game 'cause i heard it was in town. i like this game because you get to buld a house. i get free money by typing in roseblood. this is a cheat. this game is the best i have and is also the only because mammio only let me have one of the games i wanted which was pajama sam and this. i like this game. buy it.

Summary: Too addictive!
Review: This is the best computer game ever! It's easy to play, fun to play, but takes up a ton of memory! Though this game is wonderful, don't buy it if you're not prepared to be sitting for hours infront of your computer! I find if I don't play this game enough that I can't get it off my mind! (Well, no matter how much I play it I can't get it off my mind!) I highly reccomend buying this game, but I cannot stress this more-it's addictive!!!!!!!

Summary: Job keeps getting in the way!
Review: I sit here at work thinking about the people I created last night.. and I moved a family into a beautiful new home except they could barely afford a sink. In fact, for a day, they didn't even have a sink. And they were pretty angry about that too. This game is insanely addictive. As my interest begins to wane I'll surely purchase the expansion pack. I can't believe I haven't called to work "sick" just so I can play. As for memory concerns: I had 128 on my iBook, but had faulty memory and had to be dropped down to 64... I'm probably a unique user to have gone down instead of up. I definitely notice a difference. You *can* play this game with 64, but 128 is certainly better. You don't have as many 'freezes'. One tip-- when you call a friend over, take a nap while you wait for him/her to arrive. Dipping energy level usually strikes just as you're about to make a family friend (annoying).... I highly recommend for those who don't care for action games (like me) but prefer strategy.

Summary: Addictive fun for a wide range of ages
Review: I bought the Sims for my 16-year-old daughter for Christmas. Both she and my 20-year-old son home from college for the holidays have had a blast with it. They've both played it individually for so many hours that it's already paid for itself. When they sit down together with it, the comments and laughter that flow from them are a delight. I have spent a bit of time with it, mostly creating and recreating a house (I made it so big the first time that I had no money left over to buy a toilet - my Sim would not have lasted long, I think....). You buy or create your own house and furnish it; create your character(s) [physical aspects, personality]; see to their needs, have them do all sorts of things from dance to tickle to take a shower and get a job. In addition, the computer generates random events (burglars, for example, and visits by other Sim characters). It's a pretty complex and involving game. In fact, be sure that you have enough RAM to play it properly (it works smoothly on my PowerPC 8600 and my son's G3 powerbook, but I'm having to buy additional memory for my daughter's iMac). My one complaint is that you have to have the CD in your machine in order to play, which means only one person can use the game at a time; I assume this is essesntially copy-protection, but does the manufacturer really expect you to buy the game separately for eachperson in a single family? I do highly recommend the game.

Summary: Aack, I can't stop!
Review: This is a very addictive game. It is the most fun you can have with a computer. I have played SimCity which I thought was great, but The Sims just blows everything else out of the water. The Sims are much more interesting than the real people in my life. The game was even named by Entertainment Weekly as the best reason to lose your job. Hey, a few more late nights with my Sims, and I might not be able to stay awake at work anymore.
