Review: The Rosetta Stone series of computer-assisted language learning programs are the most fun way to learn a language I know!

Several years ago I purchased the Italian series and found being able to listen to native speakers helped me improve my Italian accent immensely.

Rosetta Stone starts you off in the same way children learn a language: you see images and hear their names and right away start learning the language! You don't start by memorizing grammar rules and such, but by being exposed to the language. Repetition within the lessons ensure you learn the important points almost effortlessly. And you work at your own pace! If you have a microphone, you can see how you match up with native speakers of the language, which is a tremendous help.

The Explorer series is an inexpensive way to try out the series. For very little money, you receive the first lesson in Swedish, but even better, the CD contains samplers of all of the Rosetta Stone language lessons! I think a Rosetta Stone Explorer would be a wonderful gift for anyone who is interested in languages.

The software installs on both Windows and the Macintosh. I find that it works flawlessly on my Mac laptop.
