It moves at just the right pace -- from beginner to more advanced levels so that the confidence builds quickly and before you know it, you're speaking French with confidence. I'm traveling to France this summer and can't wait to practice. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Review: I am a beginner in French and I am so happy I found this program. It's easy. There is absolutely no memorization and finally no homework. I have seen the Rosetta Stone program at a friend's house and in my opinion it's just not as good. SmartFrench offers a real approach and allows you to experience the language the way it is really spoken. They make you work on random conversations by French people. People talk about themselves or their work and it's fun. It's entertaining and efficient. The program is easy to use and I am learning very fast. I feel that I am learning much more than just words or sentences. I like the fact that on the same CD-Rom there are three levels from Beginner to Advanced. I definitely give 5 stars to this program.

Summary: A brilliantly simple idea!
Review: I have been using the SmartFrench CD-ROM for several months now. I consider it a marvellous rendition of a brilliantly simple idea. In anticipation of going to France, I've been attending the soirées offered by the local chapter of the Alliance Français. The SmartFrench CD-ROM has given me strategies for listening, and for speaking. It has brought a natural ease to my conversations. I may have been on the receiving end of some kind-hearted encouragement, but at a recent soirée I was asked, by a native French speaker, if I was from Provence! La voila!

Review: I just returned from Paris, where, for the first time, I was able to understand Parisian French, and even to make myself understood-all thanks to SmartFrench! Although not the best tool for someone who knows nothing about French, SmartFrench made it possible for me to hear French as it's actually spoken, and to improve my pronunciation. It's fun, it's fast, and it's effective!

Review: I started taking french out of a text book and problems with that method. I enjoyed using this program because you can hear french speakers talk in an everyday situation as well as read it it is a fast and effective way of learning a second language.

Summary: I love working with this program!
Review: I thought I would never find a program that was actually exciting. I've tried many other brands and I was bored. I enjoy studying now. It has real French conversations as opposed to actors playing roles who sound too rehersed. The conversations are also written down and you can see and practice the difference between what is on the paper and what you hear! They make you understand what you hear by using colors, which is very convenient. The method, which makes you repeat the dialog, has already improved my ability to understand and speak French, in no time. It's clear and efficient. I love it!

Review: I took French the "old fashioned way" during grade school and high school. Sure -- for some it worked -- but I wasn't one of those. When it came to learning a foreign language -- I was a "dummy" and just didn't have the aptitude or desire to learn. God decided to rub it in my face these last ten or so years. I've spent quite a lot of time around French people in both my business and personal life that I decided it was only right for me to put aside any complexes I had early on and try and make an honest effort to meet my clients and friends half-way. When I got to Amazon -- I was a bit overwhelmed by the products offered -- which to me didn't offer anything new. Then I saw Smart-French. I decided to go ahead and give it a "what the hell" try -- with fairly little investment on my part -- an investment I could deduct from my taxes as a cost of doing business at least. Well -- it worked. I'm happy with what I ordered and hope that whoever makes this will make something similar for other languages. In my opinion -- for what it's worth -- this method of learning is the second best thing to immersion.

Review: I'm a beginner in French. I have tried a few programs before this one and I was disappointed. I bought a French movie to check my progress but I couldn't understand a thing. Reluctantly I bought this Smart French CD-ROM, which was recommended to me. It made sense immediately. Smart French explains in a simple way the reality of French speaking, which is far from textbooks. It makes you learn French the way it's really spoken. You work on real conversations by French people, not actors reading a text. Another great thing about it is that you don't get bored because the subjects are interesting. It's easy and fun to use. I also bought the CD's to repeat the lessons while I'm driving and that's very convenient. I recommend Smart French to anyone who wants to learn French. It's unique! It's smart! And it's fun!!!
