Summary: Nero 6 Ultra Edition
Review: This is the worst program I've ever bought. I purchased it to decode mp3s and burn DVD home movies. I've owned it now over a month and a half and never burned a single CD or DVD. Every time I try and burn I experience serveral errors.
I've contacted Nero's email support and phone support (which I paid an extra $20 for) and neither one could determine how to solve the error I was getting.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend anyone buy this product.

Summary: Kinda Too Much
Review: Nero 6 Ultra Edition, focuses on the all in one experience at a great price. With tools focusing on making the product a one stop solution. From Burining DVD's or regular CD's.

But Regardless of the software's easy to use and looking start center, it still hints some complexity throughout each of its components. The approach it takes to accomploshing a task is not as straight forward as some Software burning utilities. But once you get hang of the tools, you will begin to take advantage of its many features.

Great tools for creating CD Jackets and lables, which adds value to its one stop solution idea. You can do a other recording task such burning MP3, ISO cd's.For users who really want value for their money, this is a recommended buy. I actually have two burning software programs, the other is Easy CD & DVD Creator 6, which is awesome because of the quick and easy appraoch it gives the user when it comes to burning data and music.

It offers about the same tools as Nero Ultra Edition, with tools for Photo-Editing, but a little more expensive. For persons who are willing to take the time to get acquainted with Nero 6 Ultra Edition, I would certainly recommend it to them. But for those who don't want the learning time and take the quick and easy simple with powerful tools, Easy CD Creator DVD & Creator 6 would fancy you more, but cost a little more.

Summary: A few small problems, but still the best burning rom out.
Review: I used nero ever since I got a free version with my old cd burner a couple years ago, I will keep using it as long as it gives me the best features for the price. I use it mostly for dvd burning and its great you can fit a full 2 hours of video on a standard disc unlike other software (roxio) witch takes up nearly 1 gig just for the menu. It burns fast also with quick encoding. The few negetives are:

1. Menues for VCD will not work if there is more than 1 video file on them. (burn without a menu and you should have no problem)
2. Inserting chapter breaks into video files for dvd will not work, it will only record the first chapter of each video and the rest will freeze.(use a video editing software like Honestech Video Editor 5 to split the video before bringing it into Nero or make the video one track)

If the above 2 issues were fixed this would be flawless.

Summary: Smooth and Intuitive - Online Demo Version 6.0.19
Review: After getting an Iomega CD-RW and suffering from it's HotBurn application, I decided to give Nero a try after hearing so much good things about it from everywhere.

Both installation and running of the application are smooth and easy on my IBM T-30 with P4 1.6Ghz running XP. My satisfaction is primary with the CD burning and Back-Up utility (onto my external HD). I haven't tried other extensive functions.

From what I see, many people using the retail version that was released earlier are having problems. However, I think the current online version 6.0.19 is running very well. I will recommend people to purchase it online even though it's $10 more expensive than the retail one. I think it'll save a lot of trouble getting errors and finding update patches.

Summary: Simple fix for installation problems
Review: I just bought Nero 6 Ultra retail and tryed to install it on my Windows XP system. The installation would always fail loading a different file and tell me to Restart Windows and begin Installation again. I'm dumb. I optimized my hard drive and restarted 10 times. I'm stupid. I paid $1.29 a minute to call Tech support. The serial number faintly (dox matrix) printed on the CD sleeve looked like it had letters and numbers. The only letter was the "A". I clearly saw a "B" but it was really an "8" and the "D" was really a "0". Be sure to fill in the company box even if you only say home and be sure you type in the hyphens when you enter the serial number. I'm miffed the program would not tell me my problem was the serial number. I'm now ready for the program to prove its worth to me.

Summary: backup problems
Review: I bought nero 6.0 version and updated to the 6.0.19 version. Trying to backup files on the 6.0version, it wouldn't recognize a dvd disk(large file backups). After I updated to the 19 version, it would recognize a dvd, but only a dvd (r). It would burn the entire disk. I'm using a nec dvd+rw nd-1100a writer and nero claimed it would work with the +rw disks. It consistently gives me two errors: the current recorder/disk is not correct, please change your target recorder/disc and the currently inserted disc is a dvd, which can only be written in one session. Would you like to erase all existing data before writing? It also overburns even though I downloaded their patch. It claims disk type is unknown even though under the info section the cd drive is identified and the read/write formats are checked and correct. Very displeased with this software as it has plenty of bugs. Blew 99.00 dollors on this.

Summary: Serious problems in purchased version of product
Review: Nero 6 immediately crashed my extremely stable Windows XP (Service Patch 1) system right after installing it. That system had no other CD/DVD software on it, and thus no conflicting software. I had to go to the Nero web site and download over 40 MBs!! of their "updates". It then has worked fine (so far) and actually looks to be quite good. Nero clearly rushed this product out to compete against the new version 6 of easy CD and DVD Creator. If you purchase this product be sure to get all of the "updates" from the Nero site before trying to do anything at all, including just browsing the menus.

Summary: The WORST customer service ever
Review: I am getting the dreaded "error:6" message as well. My email to Nero has been ignored and I WILL NOT pay $1.29 a minute to help AHEAD debug their poorly written software. BTW - has anybody received a solution from AHEAD?

I switched to NERO from EZCD Creator because of Roxio's buggy software but now I am in the market for a new CD burning product. Why can't these companies get it right or at least provide decent tech support?

Summary: Burning In Hell
Review: I used the Nero 5.5 demo version for quite a while and liked it enough to buy the new Nero 6. Big mistake! So many things that worked fine on the previous version are messed up. A short list:

Wave Editor cannot split files correctly and often can't even open the files it creates.
Twain Scanning no longer works in the cover designer
Buring rom file selector incorrectly renames songs
Many, Many menu items and controls with no help or documentation.
Etc, Etc.
Nero 6 has been out just amonth or so and already there have been 2 major bug fixes ( ahead calls them updates)
I have tried reinstalling and updating, but the bugs I am finding are with the program and not system problems. Email to Nero brings no response. In short save your money, or try to find a copy of nero 5.5 at least it works.

Summary: Nero 6 Ultra Edition
Review: To sum up my Nero 6 Ultra Edition experience:
1. The user interface is NOT user-friendly.
2. The program documentation is in two different and unrelated places - Windows help and three different pdf files found only on the installation disc.
3. When I have a problem, I have yet to find what I am looking for in the included program documentation.
4. The Nero suite is not integrated well. The user must already know which programs in Nero do exactly what the user wants to do with CD burning... and pray you know how to do your desired task.
5. FAQs at the website are not helpful
6. There is no telephone tech support included in the purchase price. You can get it, but it will cost you per minute!
7. The included Tech support is only available via email with a 5 - 7 day wait between your submission and the Tech reply. Email tag is reduced if you are VERY CLEAR about what you need to know or do.
8. There is at least one good thing about Nero 6 Ultra Edition... I have yet to make a coaster.
9. GOOD LUCK NEW USERS!
