Description:
If the articles have lost their charm, dive into The Playboy Collection and check out the right-brain section of the famous magazine. If you've already got QuickTime 3.0 or better installed, there's no further fuss required; each program runs from the disc. The 1999 Playmate Calendar, Voluptuous Vixens, Babes of Baywatch, and Playmate Portfolios of Jenny McCarthy and Pamela Anderson Lee each contain hundreds of fairly small (about 300 x 500 pixels) scanned photos and about a dozen short (one- to four-minute) video clips. Most of the pictures are high quality, though there are a few exceptions, and the slideshow software is seamless and easy to use. There is a little recycling--Lee had a spot on Baywatch--but the material is mostly fresh and easy on the eyes. And, if you like, you can even get the photo shoot information with each picture, including file name, photographer, date, and publication. There's no easy way to capture and save individual shots, but a bit of ingenuity and a few minutes in Photoshop should take care of any problems you have. The videos are small but run smoothly, even on older machines, and navigation between them is just as easy as the slideshows. If you want to explore Hefner's vision, The Playboy Collection gives you a year's worth of his magazine's highlights without all those distracting words. --Rob Lightner
