Summary: Excellent App
Review: I've been using Canvas since version 5 and upgraded to Canvas 7 around Christmas '99. This is an outstanding application. Working in Canvas 7, you can do just about anything - import and edit bitmapped images, create vector art and apply bitmap image filters to vector artwork. Everything remains completely editable. Exports to just about any format you need.

After using Canvas I find Illustrator and Freehand lacking. Canvas 7's transparency effects are first rate. You really won't believe what you can do with this feature. Makes what Illustrator 9 offers laughable, especially since Canvas has had vector transparency since version 6 came out two years ago.

And it comes in two flavors. One for pro users who need to generate color separations/postscript files and another version for home users who print to color inkjets or design web graphics.

Summary: Photoshop+Coreldraw+Illustrator...=Canvas
Review: I've used Canvas 5 for three years and am using Canvas 7 now too. Since I don't read manuals except as a last resort, I love Canvas because alot of the features can be figured out with little help. It seems that I learn how to use this application for something new everytime I sit down to use it. Making greeting cards, meal calendars, web graphics, business cards, company logos, animations, and even keeping a journal. Many of the small features are wonderful too (like seeing each font in the font list as it actually would appear in type). I also like the multiple levels of undo and the fact that Canvas can use the same plugins that Adobe programs use (like Eyecandy).

On top of Canvas program itself, the company (Deneba)has been very friendly and responsive to my questions and suggestions.

Summary: Life must be hard without Canvas¿
Review: Imagine if you could combine the functionalities of Photoshop, Illustrator and QuarkXpress in one single program, then you would have a truly unique graphic platform. This is however exactly what Deneba Canvas 7 is all about. You have full control every aspect off vector, bitmap, text, web and layout. You can even apply normal bitmap filters to any object with the use of SpriteLayer and SpriteEffects.

I have used Canvas 7 for some time now I can honestly say that if I ever have to choose between Canvas 7, Illustrator, Freehand, QuarkXpress or Photoshop I would take Canvas. It has made my life more effective and less frustrating - two qualities it is hard to find in any other software product. It also makes me more creative because I can focus on my work instead the program itself - it is so easy.

Life must be hard without Canvas...
