Description:
Professor Franklin's Instant Photo Effects was one of the first digital-darkroom software packages on the market, and it's still one of the easiest and most fun packages to use. Its main strength is that it offers just the right mix of retouching and effects options. The darkroom offers an auto-correct button, color balancing and brightness, and contrast corrections. It also has one of the best collections of picture frames--from ornate gilt to grass--and contains a wonderful collection of stamp, greeting card, and movie poster templates into which you can drop your pictures. One drawback is the lack of Web features and slide-show facilities. This flaw aside, Professor Franklin's Instant Photo Effects provides a ton of fun for very little money. --Ken McMahon
