Summary: Sweet!!
Review: I got this program not to long ago. It's pretty sweet. I haven't used 3-D programs much, but this one is easy to use. Just by playing around I figured most things out. It's a fun program and a good 3-D program. It was cool

Summary: Try your hand at 3D character animation!
Review: Imagine being able to create 3D characters and animate them, just like the pros do! I bought this program a couple of years ago, when I was just starting to play around with 3D graphics, and I have not been disappointed with my purchase. It's easy enough for a beginner to start playing with, and yet flexible enough to for seasoned pros to create masterpieces. If you've never seen Poser before, here's what you're looking at. Poser 4 and Pro Pack come with plenty of pre-built models for you to use, including male and female adults and kids, skeletons, and animals. Each model can be customized for a different look. With a turn of a dial, you can change the faces on the people models to create entirely different characters. A fairly complete library of hair styles, clothing, and props also comes with the program, letting you dress your characters up in style. There are also libraries of pre-set poses and lighting sets as well. If you have access to an image editing program like Adobe Photoshop or Corel Photopaint, you can really spice up things up by creating custom textures for the various models (imagine being able to put your own face on a 3D model!). With all these tools, you can create anything from photo-realistic images to abstract style art. The key frame animation tools are simple and easy to use, and allow you to let your characters walk, run, or even dance.

Keep in mind, this is old style Poser. Poser 5 is out now, with a slew of new features, but it's looks like there's a love/hate relationship going on right now between the graphics community and Poser 5 (Poser 5 does have a few bugs and is not as stable as Poser 4). If you've never used Poser or any other graphics program before, Poser 4 with the Pro Pack might just be the place to start. There's a ton of information available online for Poser 4 Pro Pack, including such sites as the Poser Pros Forums and Renderosity. What's really nice is the price. A lot of other 3D programs cost an arm and a leg. Not this one. The program also works well with other 3D programs, including Bryce, and Lightwave. So if you've ever wanted to create your own 3D characters, this is the way to go.

Review: Poser 4 is a wonderful tool, allowing you to create 3D graphics featuring various types of figures. Combined w/Photoshop, it's a great tool to create beautiful pieces of artwork. I honestly love it. If you're looking to reach a new level in digital art, I highly recommend Poser. It is also capable of animation.

Summary: Great 3D learning program great for beginners
Review: This program is the best!
I had wanted to get into 3D artwork as a hobby some time ago, I even went through the trouble of purchasing MAYA 3D and Lightwave 7 3D softwares (Got them on a student Bargain) Anyways learning the simplest basics such as modeling for both of these programs is EXTREMELY difficult!!! I purchased the book that's all over the net "Dan Ablan's Lightwave 7 book" the book has like a billion intimidating pages to read and he ASSUMES you already know the basics of 3D modeling. MAYA is even harder.
The books are still here gathering dust...you can now plant corn with the dust that has gathered.
I heard about POSER for modeling people, I figure that's one of the reasons I want to learn 3D so I can model people and eventually get into doing CGI effects for movies, etc.
POSER has all the stuff I need to make a quick model of a human being, a face that I can adjust to my liking in terms of ethnic features, Asian, black, white. Size, skinny, medium build, Hero build, and really BIG!
It also enables you to animate your models, import pictures, export the models to Bryce, and 3D max, as well as other 3D programs.
And the best thing that this software does for me is help me understand the terms used in industry/major 3D modeling programs; for instance, it has helped me understand what "deformers" are, parent, morph, and so much more, it's actually a BETTER learning program for beginners because it's so simple to understand and the interface is so easy to follow, practically what you see is what you get...it kind of reminds me of how DREAMWEAVER has turned alot of average no background hobbyists into professional web developers..POSER can help you get to that next level in 3D or better prepare you for advanced 3D software. It is what Photoshop LE (Limited Edition) did for first time Photoshop users. POSER is highly recommended.
