Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware: Doesn't Support Windows 98 Review: Wow--I wish I'd read reviews...before buying...and tried to install it this morning on my desktop, only to get an error message that the O/S I use wasn't supported, and that operating system is Windows 98(!). I was totally surprised, and it's basically useless to me now until/unless I upgrade. I've never heard of mass market software not running on a popular and recent operating system, and wouldn't have thought to look for this, ever. The reviews I read on Amazon were great; but now that I've had issues with it I'm seeing more of the ones that bring up the negatives as well. Eee...buyer beware. It could be great stuff but I'll have to only imagine it, for now.
Rating: Summary: Photoshop Album - Beware Review: I bought this product as a companion to Photoshop Elements 2.0. Album is one of the most bug-ridden products I have ever used. By contrast, Elements works very well. For a view of the types of bugs in Album, go to the Adobe web site, then navigate to discussion group under support for Album. You will find nearly 600 inputs, with mostly complaints and "see if this works" work-arounds for bugs. Far too many to list here. Album did not load on my desktop using WIn 98 2nd edition. I was told to look through the 600 user complaints to find a solution. It was there, but it took quite a bit of time. My notebook with Win XP installed ok, but would not boot up without yet another visit to the user's work-around pages. Product does not support some scanner formats (Visioneer). I was told to convert these formats to pdf so they would be recognized by Album.Consider other options than this software. It was not ready for release. Adobe usually releases good products. Not this time.
Rating: Summary: Easy to use! Review: I use PhotoShop Elements 2, and thought it would be a good addition. It integrates well with this software. It's great! Makes downloads from the digital camera and scanner much easier, saving several steps. I highly recommend this if you have lots of photos to scan (from family archives, etc.) and scads of new photos from the digital camera. So much easier to find what you are looking for. I recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Good for viewing and organization, but... Review: ... DON'T expect to print professional-looking photos with it. Yes, you can print out sheets of photos, which is nice, but the quality is terrible. I have to use photoshop to print with satisfactory results.
Rating: Summary: Try Extensis Portfolio Review: I use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and PageMaker all the time. but Adobe has yet to publish a mainstream photo cataloging program. If you're serious about cataloguing graphics, try Extensis Portfolio. Much more robust.
Rating: Summary: Memory eater! Review: Was very disappointed. Running 1 ghz processor, 128 mb RAM. Software said maximum 50,000 pictures uploaded at a time. Uploaded my measly 1800 pics. Seized the system. Reloaded a couple of times, emptied my startup files. Still same problem. I'm sending it back and going to Picasa. I tried it free for a couple of weeks and it worked like a charm.
Rating: Summary: Reasonable Solution for Image Management. Review: I personally think this is a great product for handling all types of images from those taken by your digital camera and those you scan in. What makes Photoshop Album so amazing is the felxibility it gives you when it comes to managing, organising your images. Organise by type, date, category whatever. With the amazing timeline. It has features for cropping and perfecting photos but these are limited, they are still welcomed. One thing I hoped for though in terms of photo-editing, users who have Photoshop Elements installed on their computer could use the engine to edit photos, instead of having to use the independent tools Photoshop Album. Another feature that I think makes this a winner is the Slide Show feature, which is a must in all Image Management programs. I think this is great value at an economical price because of its image management, photo-editing and slide show, plus many more. This I think is a must have product to have on your computer.
Rating: Summary: First impression is great! Review: Granted, I only loaded this up today...but first impressions say a lot. Within minutes, I was creating tags for the many hundreds (if not thousands) of photos I have in a multitude of folders. It will take me a while to tag each photo, but when I'm done, I will always be able to find what I want instantly. The timeline is very useful too. So far, just the few things I did were well worth the money. If I find any faults, those will be noted later....Oh, having a robust system definitely is a key!
Rating: Summary: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ALBUM Review: ONE OF THE PRINT SHOP SOFTWARES THAT I OWN AND USE. THIS IS REALITIVELY EASY TO USE AND USER FRIENDLY. GOOD INVESTMENT TO GET DESIRED RESULTS.
Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware - Cannot Run It on XP - Freezes Review: DANGER DANGER! I include myself here amongst the cadre of users who are complaining that this program "locks-up" or freezes in Windows XP. My experience is corroborated by the volume of complaints one can observe in Adobe's Album support forum and Adobe's meek efforts to supply users with a troubleshooting guide for the "freezes" on the Photoshop Album support area of their website. I understand that this is a 1.0 product, but that does not excuse Adobe from its responsibility to release a program that is stable in the O/S's it has been released for. In fact, this is the first piece of software I have purchased from a large company that does not work - AT ALL!!! I recommend that buyers with Windows XP wait until a stable version has been released as Adobe does not offer a money-back guarantee if purchased thru any other means than the Adobe Store on their website.
