Description:
Tired of digging through your wallet, looking for pictures of loved ones to show off at office picnics? Lose all those pictures cluttering your wallet and store them on your Palm device with the simple, powerful PhotoSuite Mobile Edition 1.0. Installation is quick and easy and the browsing software takes up only 100 KB of memory in the handheld. This is essential as pictures average around 50 KB (more for color) and, for most of us, every bit of memory counts. The desktop interface is slick and very easy to negotiate, using an intuitive drag-and-drop system for viewing, importing, and exporting files. Most popular image file formats are accepted, including JPG, GIF, and BMP. Video files (AVI, ASF, QuickTime, and more) are also viewable at a full 30 frames per second--if the device has enough free memory to store them, an unlikely prospect for all but the smallest chips or most memory-enhanced gadgets. The image quality is surprisingly clear, with 16-color grayscale the norm for most devices (the Palm VII only supports four-color grayscale and the Palm IIIc offers 256-color). If an image is too large to display on the Palm's screen, unseen portions can easily be brought into the window with the stylus. Users can easily beam image files and albums between handhelds, though some larger files might take a couple of tries. Those who use their PDAs as virtual billfolds will love adding their snapshot collections to their receipts and to-do lists with PhotoSuite Mobile Edition 1.0. --Rob Lightner
