Description:
Art Explosion 200,000 spans nine CDs and holds a ludicrous bounty of royalty-free images. At times there may be more muck than brass in here, but the odds are that there's something you can use for personal stationery, newsletters, or Web pages--or just have fun with. Whatever topic you're working on, Art Explosion 200,000 is almost bound to cover it. There are cutouts, photographs, and backgrounds in bitmap format, a generous helping of the ubiquitous animated GIF, and the remaining pictures in vector format. All of these are easily brought into Microsoft's Word with just a few mouse clicks, or can be opened with your favorite drawing program, photo editor, or Web design package. Although Art Explosion 200,000 comes with a limited edition of Extensis's Portfolio Browser and a printed quick-reference guide, it's still a daunting task to search through it. There's a bonus double-sided DVD included with all nine CDs crammed onto it--if you've a DVD drive, stick with this disc, as it's much quicker to work with. Anyone running Windows Me should just turn on thumbnail view to see the images; they're arranged in folders by format, subject, and subcategory. Art Explosion 200,000 is really for small office or home use; the bitmaps are only at screen size and resolution and the quality of the vector images varies. Not everything in Art Explosion 200,000 is going to be a hit, but with 200,000 images there is bound to be more than enough hits. --John Cranmer
