Rating: Summary: Its Photoshop for photographers! Review: I have, and use, Photoshop 6 every day. At this point I'm supposed to say what a wonderful program it is but frankly, if you are just processing photos, Photoshop raises needless complexity to unimaginable heights. Interested in dot gain or 3/4 tones? I didn't think so.Enter Photoshop Elements. Somebody at Adobe finally realized that photographers--even accomplished ones--want PHOTOshop not PRINTshop. PS Elements has everything you need (plus the inevitable dopey effects) in a genuinely easy to use package. You won't see any 600+ page books on Photoshop Elements. They aren't needed. If you think about it, in a sane world Photoshop Elements would sell for [money]--because of its simplicity--and the full Photoshop would retail for [money]. Thank you, Adobe. Now how about a simplified version of GoLive....
Rating: Summary: The best editing program we've found. Review: Multiple undos like Photoshop. Easy to use as PhotoDeluxe. This is our dream editing program. Recipes quickly guide you through editing tasks. It took a while to set up scanner software to work but the book was a big help. Can you tell, I really like this program.
Rating: Summary: Wow Review: I love this program. I can't learn enough fast enough. Bravo Adobe.
Rating: Summary: A great product Review: Regarding the points made that Elements lacks some of Photoshop's features - channels, curves, etc: Considering the price of the full version of Photoshop, I'm not surprised that Elements is missing a few of Photoshop's features. (Come on, how would they give away the whole enchilada and still sell it for $99 ?) Folks, if you want everything that's in Photoshop, you have to buy Photoshop. I can't justify that price tag, so I bought Elements. And if you do some searching on the net for tutorials on this product, some of those features can be had with handy back door methods. Elements has the same interface as Photoshop. You will need to learn how to use it. It's not like Photo Deluxe where you're guided into set routines. But if you're willing to put a few minutes into learning the interface, it's a GREAT piece of software. I highly recommend the book "50 Fast Digital Photo Techniques": I learned more by reading the first few chapters than I ever would by experimenting on my own. This book teaches some very useful photo editing methods with PS Elements - the book will teach you how to use the software with useful examples. After you get to know the basics, many of the online Photoshop tutorials will help because so much of the interface is the same. I'm finally learning how to do selections effectively, which I had given up on before. In my experience, the competing product is Paint Shop Pro, another very good program. However I believe Elements has more bells and whistles specifically designed for photographers. I've used both products and I think you get more for your money with Elements.
Rating: Summary: Very easy to use Review: I've been playing around with a trial version of Elements the last few days and have been very impressed. This is far and away the best commercial image manipulation program for the non-professional. It is so much easier to use than either Photoshop 6.0 (which has so many features it can be overwhelming) or Photoshop LE. All the tools you need to are right there on the desktop, a simple mouse click away. I found it a joy to use, and would seriously think of buying it if it were not for the fact that it does not run natively on Mac OS X and that the Opensource program Gimp, despite not being as easy to use, makes for a compelling alternative.
Rating: Summary: Wish I had this years ago Review: I was intimidated by the cost and complexity of full scale Adobe Photoshop, but Elements solved that! Cheap and much easier for a person like me. I understand graphics as used on the web, and I want to make good ones, but I don't want to spend a lifetime working at the art of it. I scan slides for my website and have been troubled with dirt on older slides. Adobe Photoshop Elements has fixed that, along with improving every other aspect of fine tuning my photos.
Rating: Summary: A Great deal for a Great Product Review: I've used Photoshop for years, and was suspicious about "Adobe Photoshop Elements." However, my expectations were blown away. If you see Photoshop and shudder at the price, but still want most of the features 'ordinary' (not hardcore designers) use, then buy this application. Layers, excellent effects and filters, decent typography (not as good as Photoshop) are all here. I could list all you can do, but let it be suffice to say that if you need an image editor, and want to get beyond the begiiner version, check out "Adobe Photoshop Elements." I fully recommend "Adobe Photoshop Elements." Anthony Trendl
Rating: Summary: Spectacular product Review: I've been using Photoshop Elements for a couple of months now, not only for photoediting and printing, but also for design of backgrounds for web pages. Photoshop Elements is primarily used as part of my business (I use it in the design of marketing materials and art for webpages). The program is a perfect fit for serious hobbyist. It also meets the needs of business users who are cost-conscious and do not need the full power of PhotoShop. Most of the programs features focus on delivering useful graphics and photo enhancement tools to the user. PhotoShop Elements provides few few kitschy filters and tacky borders that so many bundled programs force on users, apparently in the belief that most of us want to use photoeditors to send fun-house images of the family pet with purple and yellow flowered borders to all our friends. PhotoElements offers an immensely powerful suite of tools focused on the results desired by the serious hobbyist (which is not to say they haven't included their a few of their own kitschy folders). While PhotoElements offers a wide variety of filters and special effects, most of the filters have a meaningful professional purpose, the filters produce excellent quality results, and most offer the users a high degree of control over the special effects. Unlike some bundled packages, PhotoElements works nearly flawlessly. It seems to manage memory well and I've never had a crash while using the program. PhotoElements paper user guide is excellent for a program in this price range. The only criticism would be that I found the on-line help, which downloads directly to the Internet, somewhat clumsy and poorly structured. It seems difficult to formulate search terms that get the desired result and for someone on a dial-up connection I would think this would be a painfully slow way to access help (I have high-speed cable). This software offers extraordinary value for the price. It offers at least 70-80% of the power of Photoshop for little more than the price of a game. If you buy a digital camera, purchase and install PhotoElements before you waste disk space on the bundled photoediting software that came with your camera. This was the best [inexpensive]software purchase I've ever made.
Rating: Summary: Exactly what I need Review: I do basic to intermediate graphics work for my personal web page and post a lot of my digital photos online. Photoshop Elements fits my needs perfectly. It has this cool Web Photo Album generator which generates a nicely laid out photo album consisting of HTML files and thumbnails. It is highly customizable and is great if you have lots of photos you want to post immediately. It's also a very good image editor. It has all the features from the full version of Photoshop that I need. If you're used to the Photoshop interface, but can't afford to shell out ($$$)for it, Photoshop Elements is for you!
Rating: Summary: Adobe Photoshop Elements Review: I think Photoshop Elements is great! It is a very powerful, user friendly image editing program. It can turn bad digital photos into great photos, manipulate them, clone sections of pictures (great for making web page banners) and add text to them (the text feature in itself is one of the best I've seen). The "recipes" can make a somewhat daunting task very easy. It puts lots of Photoshop features into an easy to use and affordable package for the average user.
