Rating: Summary: WOW Review: This application is great. I was pleased with ROXIO 5- even with the bugs. But I haven't had a problem and I use the dreaded WIN ME. Two thumbs WAY up.
Rating: Summary: This product STINKS!! Review: I installed the product and it promptly screw up my entire system. It deleted files and made others unreadable. The product comes with a 390 page instrtuction book and if, by chance, you have a question not covered in the manual it will cost you $35.00 to ask that question, IF you can get a response. You CAN NOT get On Line Support of any sort. An attempt to sign into their site is greeted with a statement saying they have no record of your E-Mail address and cannot respond. Yet they keep sending promotional material to the same E-Mail address they have no record of. Save yourself Time, Money and A LOT of Problems - Don't buy this product!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Opinion from a PC tech: Don't buy version 6 at any price Review: I've used every version of Roxio's CD software - back to when it was from Adaptec and I really liked every version - until this one. It is rediculously buggy. Sometimes things work, then the next time they lock up the PC, then they work again. This is the only software on my PC that does this - and that was after all updates were applied for windows XP Pro SP1 and all updates from Roxio. This version from Roxio has made me not trust Roxio's products anymore. I never agreed to be their beta tester. This is the first time I have ever written a negative review and it was because of how bad I feel this is that I felt compelled to warn others. Version 7 may be better, but I'm not willing to take that chance. I feel Roxio should be giving V7 away to the people that bought version 6.
Rating: Summary: Not very user friendly...or with lack of support services Review: I have to agree, I am very disappointed with the software and services...don't like the idea of talking to a computer or calling long distance. My biggest problem is losing all audio files when video is copied to DVD. I paid 100 for a DVD of an occasion and when I went to copy with this software, I lost all the original audio tracks on the tape:-(...mine was also buddled with Plextor DVD-burner. I have to think twice before I buy another of these products as I now am shopping for something better to replace this software...I also have Pinnicle and with the rendering and failing to copy over to the DVD, it's just about as bad...customer service is better though.
Rating: Summary: Expensive but worth it Review: All CD&DVD burners tend to be fairly expensive, as usually software is. Comparing this to Nero, Roxio is a sure buy. It is really easy (surprise, surprise) to use, and it looks good. It is also powerful, in the sense that you can do almost anything with it. You can even cut your music, design menus for your movie DVDs and create your own covers for your CD cases. It comes with a helpful handbook that helps you deciding on wich application to use (Audio central, Creator Classic etc.). One thing it lacks is a wizard. Wizards are always nice to use and keep you self-confident that you woun't waste your DVD disk though it is quite hard even without the wizard. I didn't have any writer probelms, and I am overall happy with the product, though I think that once you buy an expensive DVD burner one has to buy an expensive program as well, though this does make burning so much easier than playing with codes and files and windows. If your looking for an powerful burner, this is what you should buy.
Rating: Summary: Save your money... Review: The best thing about this product is that I got it via eBAY for $15.00. I know now why it was so cheap. The module that I was really interested in, DVD creator, is a total disaster. It is hard to use, confusing, and does not produce repeatable results. Forget about getting help from Roxio. I tried using the email route. About 3 days after submitting a question, you get some form-letter jibberish back, unrelated to the question. I refuse to pay for long distance. I also refuse to buy any more Roxio products, at any price.
Rating: Summary: Want marginal customer support? Buy any Roxio product! Review: I purchased the Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 Platinum Edition in November 2004, after Microsoft's SP2 for Windows XP made my Basic 5 version unusable. I've been exchanging emails with Roxio Technical Support ever since. I can burn a data CD only to a CDR (for some reason ECDC 6 does not recognize my CDRWs). I cannot copy a CD using the Disc Copier function. For some reason the ECDC 6 recognizes my burner only through the Creator Classic function.
What is wrong with companies these days? They grab the money and run. Never mind whether the customer gets the functionality they are paying for.
I'll be looking into Nero or Sonic, which I've heard positive comments from live users.
Amazon.com, on the other hand, is one customer-oriented company!
Rating: Summary: You buy this and loose customer support Review: Do you know if u ever need to get support, or to download a patch for your paid Roxio software, registration IS required from their website?! Yes everytime you need an software update/patch, you need to login with password. Registration needs an valid email address and your ROXIO software key. Thanks to this COMPULSORY registration I need to keep record for one more login/password combination. And Pray that you don't loose your cd key.
BTW if your cdburner came with a bundle Roxio Easy creator, forget any update / support from roxio since you dont get a cd key. Somehow this is one evil way ROXIO try to get your business. if one day you upgrade your operating system and need to update for the bundle roxio software, you have to BUY the retail version Easy Creator.
Rating: Summary: Great with Windows 2000/XP; at least partially(!)... Review: For DVD-Video editing/creating, I use Roxio's VideoWave 7 Professional. For everything else this is great! I've had great success with win2000; it's designed for XP/ME/98 as well. 2000/XP users w/NTFS partitions will be best off; ANY user w/FAT32 partitions will likely experience some craziness! I use Norton Ghost for backup/imaging: so even if my computer spontaneously combusts(!), I can rebuild it pretty quickly. My Fave's- attractive interface, excellent html help, Creator Classic with Disc Copier, AudioCentral, Label Creator, and Drag-to-Disc: these are amazing! With *just these* components & a DVD+/-RW drive, this software *should* actually be pretty stable- it works great on my system! (AthlonXP 3000+; 512MB memory.) Disc Copier copies CDs/DVDs that aren't copy protected, yet I've copied a few store-bought items: a music CD; a cheap PC game CD; an instructional DVD(!); a foreign NTSC DVD(wow!). Creator Classic makes all kinds of discs- Data, Music, MP3, Enhanced, Mixed-Mode, Bootable & more! AudioCentral effectively rips, burns, converts & manages MP3s, WMAs, WAVs & OGGs. It's even greater now with the new mp3PRO Plug-in encoder available at Roxio's website (highly recommended!). I've converted audio tapes, with my analog-in sound card, into high-quality MP3 CDs with professional looking labels! Drag-to-Disc is especially important to me because win2000 (my favorite OS) can't write to CDs/DVDs without extra software help. This is a tremendously versatile package! For most of my CD/DVD needs, this product is all I need! Official Caveat Time- *PLEASE BACKUP YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE INSTALLATION!* Glitches, bugs, hangs & crashes can be experienced all throughout this product. Make sure Windows is up-to-date with all recent service packs & patches. If you install the entire product to see what it can do, then decide you can do without a few features, it's best to uninstall the whole package, restart the computer, and then reinstall only the needed features with their corresponding updates. Check Roxio's support page for common issues/problems to evaluate risk! (Especially win98/ME users!)
Rating: Summary: WARNING!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY!!! Review: I purchased this product and when I record it gives me an error message. When I went to the Roxio website it says that the error can be fixed by purchasing Roxio version 7! I have lost many cds trying to get this rip off to work! They are thieves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
