Summary: Powerful Tools for Graphics
Review: This product contains in a single package all the tools many users will need for all of their graphics and desktop publishing needs: CorelDRAW, arguably the most competent vector drawing program on the market; PhotoPaint, a very good bitmap image creation and editing program, and R.A.V.E. a newer animation program that is maturing now in version 2 but still has a way to go to match the capabilities of Flash. It also includes some other nice programs such as a font manager, screen capture, OCR, and a bitmap-to-vector trace program. It also comes with a very complete set of fonts (around 1,000 I think), and a lot of clip-art. One limitation: For heavy desktop publishing of large multi-page documents a specialized product like Ventura would be a better choice.

I am most familiar with CorelDRAW so the rest of my comments will focus on that program. It has many, many features. Probably so many that no single user will make use of them all.

The interface for the most part is intuitive and easy to use. One of its greatest strengths is the ability to customize the user interface to best suit the way each individual works. If you find there is a function you are repeatedly going through the menus to get to, you can easily add a shortcut key to activiate it with a single keystroke. Custom toolbars and menus are easy to create. It also has VBA support so you can customize the program with a high level of automation, in effect creating your own commands.

It has good support of other file types, including the ability to import and export just about every commonly used (and many not so commonly used) graphics, text and even CAD files. It produces good PDF outputs to permit document distribution to others who do not have CorelDRAW.

In summary, CorelDRAW and the rest of the suite combine for an extremely powerful graphics package at a terrific price. These same functions from other manufactureres would cost many times the amount of CDGS11. It is a great value.

Summary: Graphic Supervisor
Review: We have used Corel Draw now since version 9 and find that Corel 11 is by and far away easier, more productive than Illustrator or Freehand. We have 9 designers all of which were Illustrator users until we started with Corel 9 and now the fabulous Corel 11. There simply is no better illustration program and I can assure you that I speak for our whole staff. I only wish I held Corel stock..............
