Rating: Summary: Better than Adobe! Review: Our company has searched high and low for an alternative to Acrobat because we didn't like Adobe's arrogant take-it-or-leave-it attitude about pricing. We couldn't find a product that offered the same functionality from a reputable company until this came along. This PDF Converter product offered the features that almost everyone in our company needed and was much less expensive than Acrobat. When we pilot tested it, everyone found it easy to use. Based on that decision alone we swapped out Acrobat for PDF Converter and saved about $100,000. Now I think I need a raise!
Rating: Summary: What a value compared to Acrobat! Review: Our school just bought 10 copies of this product instead of Adobe Acrobat - we are a small private school and couldn't afford what they were charging. We use this product to create PDFs when we send out grades. It is perfect becuase we can "lock" the files so only the parents can open them to see their children's grades. Before we began using this we were sending out paper ccopies that frequently got lost by the (K-6) students. This so so much better. Thankyou ScanSoft!
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: PDF Converter 2 Professional is an awesome product! I have been using it for a few weeks and it leaves Acrobat in the dust. I creates PDF files much quicker and with a lot less set-up and hassle. Why hasn't somebody created a product like this before?

Rating: Summary: Activation Blues Review: PDF convertor is an acceptable product, but does not yield good formatting. As long as other means are available (OCR, select text from the PDF), I would not use it. PDF Create is excellent. I used it happily for 4 months. Now, it's dead.
I am a homebuilder, and during that time reinstalled my OS, a new hard drive, had difficulty with Scansoft's re-activation process, and finally installed a new mainboard. I exceeded the maximum number of activations (5, I think) and now have nothing. The software has never left the confines of my desktop computer.
I have a password and a username, neither of which is the PIN required, I was denied a PIN online, and the phone number offered in case of difficulty refers you back to the web page.
For those who still have a functioning copy, you need to know this. Reactivation requires that you copy a unique list of characters, possibly 24, from a screen. It contains enough zeros and Os that you may waste time copying them over and over, even though the number of characters is wrong. But, you must put your cursor in the display, and cursor over to find the *concealed* characters, and enter them too.
I have 4 Scansoft programs on my hard drive, one non-functional. There will not be any more.
Rating: Summary: Better than Adobe! Review: PDF Create rocks! As a student, I don't have much money and couldn't afford to spend $300 for Acrobat. My teachers wanted papers sent to them electronically in PDFs so I had to go to the library every time I needed to turn something in and use their computer to create one. It was really inconvenient, plus I couldn't go to the library late at night because it wasn't open. One of the staff told me about this product that would create PDFs for $50 from ScanSoft. I bought it and figured I'd just return it if it didn't work out. After I installed it I found it was really easy to use and saved me from having to go back to the library to create PDF files. It's the best $50 I've ever spent.
