Rating: Summary: Horrid Programming Review: As usual, hemera has some great art, but it's really flaky to use.
Rating: Summary: Horrid Programming Review: For photo objects, I have used Hemera Photo Objects vol. 1 & 2 for advertisements in the past two years. I just found out several weeks ago that a volume 3 was released and without hesitation, I purchased vol. 3.For those new to Hemera Photo Objects, if there is an object or person that you would like to use for the web or print ads (suitably for smaller print ads), these objects are without the backgrounds. Although volume 1 & volume 2 maybe all that most people may need, I'm always in pursuit of photo objects for print and web that deal with certain situations. Hospital doing a health ad, I can find a photo that i need. Photo for a doctor ala OB/GYN...I can find pregnant mother photos. Photos for a mortgage company and need a family...I can find it on the CD. Photo of a cafe setting or event a toast with jam for an anime convention's web banner, found it on the CD. But as a purchaser of stock image CD's and photo object related CD's, one of the things that Hemera does shine is the price. Great price and for 50,000 photo objects for under a hundred dollars, that's pretty cheap. As for volume III, there are noticeable differences. When clicking on the photo objects icon (I'm using this program via MAC OS X), the first step which takes quite a bit of time the first time is that the search now includes all Hemera products from Photo Objects to Big Box of Art all in one search section. So, instead of bringing up multiple icons, you can search everything you need with the new photo object searcher. You can also search online for a photo via Hemera's business series photos for higher resolution photos but if you have no need for that, fortunately, you can turn off that option. If you are looking for a photo objects CD, I do want to say that I would not start out with vol. 3. Vol. 3 is more like an addition to your current Hemera Photo Objects currently installed on your system. Last, one of the things I wanted to see more from Hemera are more photos of multicultural groups. I'm glad to see more photos of people of different ethnicities included in volume 3. Also, as the times change, it's nice to see Hemera release a newer volume with newer photos of people. Trust me...some photo object CD's that I get from other companies look like photos from the 80's or early 90's and I wonder about those other CDs. All in all, for principals of graphic design agencies or those who freelance, you can spend all the money you want on a freelance photographer, photo equipment or hundreds for photo objects and if you have the money, that's great. But if you don't or if you're company is on a budget and even if you have the money to spend, getting all three Photo Objects volumes is definitely worth it.

Rating: Summary: Could be better Review: Good stuff: 1. great number of images for reasonable price OK: 1. application speed and search engine 2. integration of vol.1 and vol.2 Negative (things that got worse since vol.1&2): 1. no image catalog (book) that used to be included with the vol.1&2. Yet, the price is still the same as before. It was nice to have the book and decide what images I want before actually doing it on computer. 2. I haven't found the usual "image fonts" in this volume. 3. Integration is somewhat weird starting with vol. 3. Why change the system that was working perfectly fine. 4. On-line? Why would I buy 50,000 images and want to get online and buy more? Yet I think that this online feature is slowing down things (although, it can be turned off). Overall: not as good as Vol.1, but pic quality better than in Vol.2. Still, Hemera is cutting cost by not including the usual image catalog and changing things (user interface) that have been working fine before.

Rating: Summary: Its all old stuff.. I dont get it!!! Review: I bought this product in hope that i could save time while designing my web sites, but all it has is old stuff.. When i tried to look for a camcorder image, all it brought up was 100's of antique cameras that were invented before i was born. This product is too much hype on the package.. I dont even know why they wasted their time on those old images.. jeez...
Rating: Summary: not current. pictures are ugly and unusable. Review: I just bought it and installed the software. I went through almost all the pictures (50,196) and unfortunately, i couldn't find anything i can use :( Some of the people on here writing positive reviews either work for Hemera (BEWARE) or are complete MORONS! Don't buy this software. It's horrible.
Rating: Summary: Be Aware of the Contents! Review: If you are a user of Hemera Photo Objects 50,000 Volumes I or II, you've grown accustomed to seeing 8 CDs and a Paperback Photo Catalog in the Box. Well, with Photo Objects Volume 3, there are only 7 CDs in the box (I initially thought my package had been mis-packed), but Hemera still packs in over 50,000 photo objects. Also, unlike Volumes I or II, Hemera has eliminated the hard copy catalog of photos as well. Still, their photo picker software works well enough that the book is not completely necessary, although I'm sure that some hard copy fans may be disappointed. If you rely on this software, and browse images a lot, I'd recommend installing the photos on your hard drive, because swapping between multiple CDs can get tedious. I think a single disc DVD version will also be available if it is not already out. Photo quality is what you'd expect if you're used to Volumes I and II, and the selection is quite wide as well. Overall, quite a nice collection.
Rating: Summary: New Version lacks speed and elegance of previous Review: If you loved version 1 and 2, stop now. I wholeheartedly supported this developer's product in its earlier verions, but version 3 for mac is painfully slow in executing searches, lacks key functions of the previous versions, and has totally disappointed me. I won't be investing in future volumes. While you can search all previous versions and companion Hemera products, (Big Box of Art Series) You can no longer copy the source cd's to a drive to eliminate the disc swapping syndrome without buying a separate and costly "network licencse" so the ease of use and speed are totally negated. You must CD swap, for all your earlier verions too so think about floppping around some 48 CDs!! This new version also must search out and connect to an online component every launch, despite turning this feature off, seaching is painfully slow. I have gone back to version 1 & 2, and my stand alone BBoA and put vol 3 back into the box, the images contained in this latest copy aren't a real addition to the previous volumes anyway.
Rating: Summary: Photo Objects Work for Me! Review: Let me first of all say that I am NOT a Hemera employee--I have worked in military and public education for many years. I make extensive personal and professional use of the Hemera Photo Objects collections for websites, newsletters, and presentation aids, and I'm very pleased to see that they are offering this new collection. In my humble opinion, Photo Objects are colorful and clean cut--the images of children are especially nice. Perhaps the selection is somewhat generic and mainstream; but in my experience, they also are easily related to by a broad spectrum of people. I find the Photo Object software very easy to use--I simply select an image from the thumbnails, choose the options I want (background, sizing, etc.), then save the image in the best file format for my needs. I wouldn't presume to speak for anyone else, but the Photo Objects collections are a great, affordable graphics resource for me.
