Summary: Fantastic idea, but needs XP update
Review: Anyone have any ideas how to get this to install on Windows XP?

Summary: I've been there!
Review: I've bought Rome, Caesar's Will recently and wanted to share a few things with you out there.

I have been playing games for quite a while now. In fact, I remember inserting those gigantic floppy discs at the time when an Apple IIE was a force to be reckoned with... Like everyone, i've (and still do occasionally)enjoyed the shoot'em all and RPG games but I tend to find the Adventure games more mind boggling than the average blast it all game. With Rome, (i had never encountered that feature in a game!!) you can access many jargon free files describing the Roman world at this time (45 BC), its economy, politics, religion, everyday life, a bio of the characters (who really existed like Cleopatra or Brutus!!) and some pratical info to help you with your investigation. That comes in real handy as you have to choose your behavior with tricky people like Mark Antony (fellow Historians there will know what i'm taking about!). And no, this is not like eating a dozen encyclopedia, the info is really user-friendly and a pleasure to go through.

More, the Roman scenes encountered in the explorations are beautifully portrayed, researched to be historically accurate (i've checked on a few things -:)) and alone are worth the price of the program. I've found the animation good even though the characters get a bit blocky at times. The plot quickly becomes totally involving, you're not just a by-stander, so it's easy to become addicted!! I had to pay the price on a few mornings!!

So i'll recommend it for murder-mystery buffs and adventure fans. More, needless is to say that if you have an opened eye for Roman history....

When's the next episode coming up?

Summary: Fantastic idea, but needs XP update
Review: The game starts out very well. Clues and information piles up pretty fast. In fact, there are there are so many plots and plans happening in Rome, you might need a flow chart. But than, BAM, you hit a wall. For example, not to give anything away, I know where there are more clues to be had, but can't for the life of me know what item or information is needed to get at them. Also, while you know how much time you have left, you don't KNOW the date or time of day which would be nice. How can I go to a party or meeting I have been invited to, where I plan to pump people for more clues, if I don't know what the current date is? So what happens is I waste the last 20 days bouncing about trying to guess where the next clue is. Was this game even betatested? I give it 3 stars for the interesting setting and for the interesting files on Rome, but have to take 2 stars away for the hours I spent running around Rome and feeling very cheated, because I am sure I knew who did it, just could not prove it!
