Summary: New version delivers
Review: EndNote is an extremely powerful tool for organising large numbers of references - great for researchers. Add references to the database manually, by "filtering" in your saved searches from databases or a friend's EndNote or Procite reference list, or by connecting directly to databases which support the Z39:50 standard. Select the bibliography style you need (hundreds available, or design your own) and add straight into your article or thesis - it places a citation in the text and formats a tidy bibliography at the end. It's easy to reformat the citations into other styles (as when you need to submit your article to numerous journals).

First time users should expect to spend a long time learning the ins and outs of this huge package but it's well worth the time if you have to organise lots of references. It comes with a great manual that fills in all the details you'll need, which installs on your computer in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format.

The new version of EndNote includes the facility to add "figures" to your work - it places a marker in the text ie. (Figure 1) and inserts the actual picture at the end of the text in a list of figures. This is currently a bit fiddley to do, presumeably the next version will streamline the process, but certainly very useful.

The other major features of this release are that the menus have been redesigned (the same content is there, and it's probably more intuitive to a new user, but will take a little getting used to), and EndNote now comes with Word document templates for the submission style preferred by many major journals.

Summary: A tremendous tool for scholars
Review: Endnote is is a must-have product for any researcher, working academic or graduate student, especially those writing a doctoral dissertation. The ability to use online library catalogs and place found materials directly into one's bibliography and footnotes formatted in the style of your choice is worth the price of admission. Hours, if not days, of drudgery can be saved with Endnote.

Summary: excellent tool for researchers
Review: if you are a researcher you have to have a copy of endnote or prepare to waste alot of time doing your references. here is the details of my experience.

I tried many times to manually prepare the references section of my latest manuscript as a medical researcher. it took me at least a week since each journal has its required format that we have to abide wit in case we want to publish with them.

in endnote I prepared all my references in 20 minutes and I did not miss any related references at all. also I did that while I am writing since it has a link to word.

endnote allows you to select your references format from a list of journals. in other words you could actually format your references according to the jurnal you are publishing with and switch between them easily in one minute. it is magic!

with the help of endnote, we could save as much as 50-70 % of the time wasted in formatting and organizing.

it also has a link to the internet and all major research engines
like medline and pubmed. it is an amazing form of data collection and organization and I recommend it for every researcher. Regards
