Rating: Summary: Great Program Review: I have purchased 7 or 8 different typing programs ranging from those targeted for children and those just for adults. This will be the last program I will purchase. It is versatile enough to appeal to children as well as adults.I did not have any trouble installing it. If I had read the reviews prior to having purchased it, I would have missed the best typing instructor software yet. I only read the reviews out of curiosity when purchasing the program online for my 75 yrear old mother. (She has just gone online and wants to improve her typing.)
Rating: Summary: Save your money! Review: I have to confess that if I had read the prior reviews first, I might have missed out on this product. Actually, we have tested every major typing program and, in fact, own quite a few. This particular one though has become a big favorite in my household. This program gives you the choice of doing traditional drills, typing completely customized lessons accompanied by a wide musical selection, or playing one of several arcade-style games. My 11 y.o. son, who up to this point was doing two- fingered typing, achieved 27 wpm the first day he used it. He has played it obsessively all week and is now up to 35 wpm. When he's not playing it, my 15 y.o. daughter, who happens to already be very fast (116 wpm)plays with it. She enjoys the games. Unlike some other reviewers, we have had no problems either running or installing this program. (We have WindowsME.)

Rating: Summary: Use with caution Review: It's not a bad program. It seems to have good tools to teach one to type. However, it doesn't seem to like Windows Me or Windows 98. Installation seemed to go ok but I received run time errors when starting the program. After reinstalling, the program worked but errors still came up when accessing certain modules. The company's tech support were not very helpful and they wouldn't even consider a refund. They said they are working this issue but nothing's been heard from them yet. The software works on a friend's Windows 95 computer but I'd like to use it on mine. So far, I'm not pleased.
Rating: Summary: Great for kids Review: My nine-year old son tried this at school and bugged us for weeks to get it at home so that he could practice. He has set his initial goal at 10 words per minute -- he's currently at 7 words per minute and improving quickly. Typing Instructor makes it really easy to track his improvement. For him, at least, this is not treated as educational software even though he knows that this software is actually teaching him how to type. The games keep him thoroughly engaged as he works on practicing his skills. Anything that can teach a child a skill like this while he also has fun is worth its weight in gold. With regards to some of the other reviews, with our Windows 98 system, we have not experienced any issues with software installation or other installability resulting from this app.
Rating: Summary: NOT WINDOWS NT COMPATABLE Review: need i say more. despite the fact that the description says it will work with NT, this will create problems on your NT machine unlike any you have experienced before. i am on my second day of trying to get out of this hole that i seem to have gotten myself into. i can boot the computer but it will not run any of my programs. tech support for the software is horrible. i dialed the tech support number for 2 hours before i was able to talk to anyone. they were absolutely no help.
Rating: Summary: Its better than most typing games Review: this has a travel theme you can play games set your words per minute take tests and practice whatever letters you want it has some really cool games though
Rating: Summary: Its better than most typing games Review: This is a great tool for anyone wanting to learn to type, or to sharpen their typing skills. My wife used it and learned quite quickly with surprising accuracy and speed. It gives you immediate feed back on your typing speed and accuracy, so you'll know how you've improved. There are also a lot of interesting articles that are used for typing exercises, so you're not just typing corny things like "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog."
Rating: Summary: Ditch Mavis Beacon and sign up for this class! Review: This is the best thing that can happen to anyone since typing class back in high school! At first I had a hard time installing it,unless you go to their website, you won't figure out the problem to begin with. Once identified, it was a cinch to install. Where Mavis doesn't allow you to advance to the next level unless you repeat the same lesson over and over again, this one is strictly the opposite. I can pick and choose my lessons, virtual games( they're REALLY COOL!) practice texts, etc. You can lose track of time with this. IT'S THE BEST!
