Summary: Not for the beginner...
Review: I found this program a little difficult to use. The actual program is simple enough to install, however none of it has the English translation, it's all in Spanish. You definitely couldn't use this program if you are only starting to learn the language.

Other than that though, the headphones are EXCELLENT and really help with getting your pronounciation right- something that a lot of teach-yourself books and tapes don't cover fully. But that is all this program has to offer. Definetely not worth the price.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Lots of things to do
Review: This pack includes:

Headphones, with mouthpiece microphone. Speech recognition, so you know if your pronounciation is right. Correct Spanish grammar, over 2,000 excersises and activities - like crosswords and dictation. Spanish video scenes. Tests, and more.

So what more COULD you want from a self-teaching Spanish software pack? Well for starters I wouldn't have minded it, if they gave me somewhere to start - like a beginners area. But as soon as the program is installed (which is pretty easy by the way), you are taken to the main menu screen, with many options to choose from - like everything mentioned above. You can go straight to ANYTHING. I suppose this would work out for an advanced user, that they could go straight to the hard excersies, but for a begginer it is so overwhelming. When you finally get the hang of using the program, it becomes fun. I especially like the speech recognition. When you click the mouse for the word/phrase, it is said through your headphones, and then you repeat it into the microphone, and it has a wave (like that of a hospital heart-beat instrument), and you compare yours to the Spanish person. Knowing just how accurate you are is absolutely great!
