Summary: Player killers will make you quit.
Review: When I started this game I was very optimistic. The controls took time to get used to, but after 10+ hours I grew to like the ease of casting spells. You start this game off on a little place called Talking Island. A good starting point for all levels under 10, with small quests and minimal challenge. The problem with it is that in Lineage II, you have the option to kill other players. Many high levels hang out at Talking Island just to kill all the low levels. Which normally wouldn't be a problem, but when you die in Lineage II, you lose a considerable amount of experience. So you're leveling for 1 hour to gain 1/2 a level and a guy comes along and kills you for no reason, and you lose 7% of yer experience and an item you were carrying. WTF! I wasted at least 20 hours of re-leveling just because of the mass amount of player killers. Then after you finally get experienced enough to defend yourself, it's becomes a grind to level past 20 and the game gets quite boring. Not to mention all the adena(money) exploits this game offers. Seems the only way to buy good weapons/equipment in this game is through various shady websites. You definately wont find adena leveling as you'll need to spend that money just getting by with spells and travel. If you want to waste your life and not get any rewards, go ahead and buy this game. But if you want the element of fun in a game, I would suggest another title.

Summary: NOTHING BUT IGE Farmers and Griefers
Review: Let me sum this up for you.
Lin2rich, LinMate, LinOptimized. Bot programs sold on ebay and used by americans and chinese farmers.

This game is so full of Farmers you cant hunt at all.

I was questing and a monster killed me, I dropped a very expensive high grade armor chest piece. Vvan658 ran over and grabbed it while my corpse lay there praying my friend would get to my items first.

When I asked for it back, I was told in chinese " I am sorry pal, but my boss will fire me if I return your junk so please go away"

Thats about the entire game for you.

They sit an wait for you to die or attack you while your fighting something just to loot you.

I made lvl 55+ which a cap of 70 and later 75 puts me in the top 20 or so out of a close to a thousand or more. So I spent my hard earned time since the game came out thinking there might be a change.

Then a friend goes and hunts all the unattended bot program users he can, and wound up banned. This game claims to be so much pvp but you apparantly cant mess with the illegal third party software users or you might get banned from the game.

Every one that started with this game is quitting now.

The Farming ring does many things to you just to prove they own this game.

Attack your monsters so you get no exp and no drops
out right steal your drops
Scam you with duplicated names and items ( a 500a dagger looks the same as a 4,000,000a called Dark screamer, same icons and skin)

Follow you around taking shots at you while you fight to loot your corpse when the monsters kill you.

Run in and steal your hunting grounds.

or a gang of pkers will just sit outside town waiting for you to step out.

When you level, your base stats dont change (strength, intelligence Wisdom ect.) the only way to take hits and hit harder is better gear so people spend hundreds at IGE buying up adena (in game money) to outfit their characters.

its sick....and nothing like Lineage 1. This game is so for off from being any thing more than a farmer fest I am watching it crumble as I type this.

Summary: Do not waste your time
Review: I find it humorous that there are several 5 star reviews posted for this game. This is the very first time I've written a review and I'm doing so to hopefully tip the tide of the obvious fanboy reviews posted.

The game is terrible. It lacks so much I don't know where to begin. From point-to-click movement, to be player killed within 10 minutes of starting play, the game leaves much to be desired.

I spent about 6 hours trying to play this game. Here is a recap of the "fun" I had:

1 - Created a character that literally has 3 variations (so yes, everyone looks the same).
2 - Tried to figure out who to talk to or where to go to even begin play. The first "quest" was easy to find and accomplish, from there, I had to level to get additional quests.
3 - Trying to level was a chore, not because of the mobs or the graphics, but due to the childish players on the server. My girlfriend playing next to me (we play side-by-side) is getting tells asking to cyber, while I'm asking (repeatedly) for players to stop attacking me. Some childish players (more than 5 approached me) tried to kill me over and over, begging me to hit them so they wouldn't affect their status. And trying to keep players and teams from stealing every mob I approached.

I've played EQ, DAoC, AO, CoH and now this. The game lacks direction, it doesn't help you learn to get involved in your character's creation, etc. All in all, this game is frustrating and has little replay or fun value...at all.

Summary: THIS IS A DISGRACE
Review: I have read all the reviews on this forum and after actually playing for awhile myself, I can say a few things as below;

1. It was a mistake to allow other non english speaking players in the american server.

2. It was a mistake to run an online game with the total lack of english support.

3. Game is engineered overall to waste as much time as possible. This is what makes me shudder above all, when a game all it does is it requires you to repeat the process of leveling(?) constantly just to get anywhere is when the game seriously affects one's quality of life. IN short, this game seized to be a short, couple of hour entertainment at your desk, this is designed to ruin one's life by making you play ungodly hours, because otherwise you don't get anywhere in the game itself.

4. I have played the game and besides leveling and gaining equipments there are no other strenghts. Seige never happens, the quests are generic, no story lines. Back in the days of MUD games we had much more engrossing experience even without all this bright graphics(which are generic as is). If character creation is all this game has going for, it is a lost cause. One should realize good graphics does not make a good game.

5. Roleplaying genre overall has been used to death. I know they are trying to fine-tune their run-away hit but with Japan, RUssia and US all geared towards the online game market, unless
they come up with something more original then a diablo clone, they will soon lose to the more well financed behemoths of the game industry.

6. Any part time employees of NCsoft should take this as a advice from a very concerned critic. I want to see the korean online game industry to succeed here in the states. As such, I have been objective as possible, but as far as I can see if you keep up this kind of quality and service you will lose customers for sure. As the first korean game maker to make ratings here should know that if NCsoft fails then this casts very dark cloud over any future prospects here in the states for any other korean game company.

7. Last, but not the least, what I was trying to say previous, part time employees of NCsoft whom are lurking the customer review sections of the amazon.com and all the other review sections. DO NOT try to change the ratings and change people's opinion over what are the obvious problems over the game by just blatantly ignoring all who criticized the game as the one "who just didn't play long enough", "they just don't understand this is the greatest game ever" or "they don't know what they are talking about" Because, it only shows your own ignorance over the game's problems(would you admit it after everybody stops using it?) and frankly, it's just plain rude to talk that way to your customers.
