Product Info Reviews

Description:

Mojo Jojo's latest plan to take over Townsville is thoroughly fiendish. Using a chemical spray known as Mutato, he has transformed all the town's creatures--from icky bugs to cuddly kittens--into large and dangerous monsters. It's up to players to help the Powerpuff Girls defeat the mutant menace before it gets out of control.

In Powerpuff Girls: Mojo Jojo's Pet Project, girls get to play superhero by rescuing endangered animals. The core of this game is composed of arcade-style games: players rescue fish from Mutato pollution, save pet-store escapees as they fall from a tall building, and eventually fight Mojo Jojo himself. That's not the end of the fun, though. When a gigantic, laser-wielding squirrel breaks the villain out of prison, the young heroines must go head-to-head with one dangerous rodent.

As arcade games go, Mojo Jojo's Pet Project offers less variety than some players may like. Most of the activities are a simple matter of evading dangerous objects while rescuing the innocent animal victims of Mojo Jojo's perfidy. Later games bring combat into the mix, requiring the girls to punch out their antagonists, but the formula is the same. Bad things move toward your character, and it's up to you to get her out of the way. The lack of variation is the single fault to be found with this game, though. It runs smoothly, gets harder on schedule, and provides lots of humor and excitement for Powerpuff fans.

As a bonus, girls who are tired of the endless hunt-and-chase can find other sources of entertainment in this game. Mojo Jojo's Pet Project contains some minor, low-key activities such as a matching game and printer-based design projects, good choices for girls who like to move between fast-paced action and point-and-click mellowing out. Even so, the point of this game is to rescue Townsville, and girls who want to play should definitely be ready to unleash their special powers in the name of justice. --Alyx Dellamonica
