Summary: My kids love this
Review: I actually bought this based on the review I had read here. I have never bought a 'mindless' game for my kids, so I wanted somthing simple. It IS simple and the kids adore it. It is not that sophisticated, but that doesn't seem to bother my 5 or 7 year old. They are truly addicted to this game, much to my delight and chagrin.

Summary: Lego Cars are cool!
Review: I love this game! You can build your own cars, and win more piezes! I also like the SECRET SHORT CUTS!!!! By hitting sertain objecs, you can open up doors that the computer wount take! (time races are an exeptien) some times, they are open, but hard to see. Thier are even cheet codes! unforchently, this is can not be used to open cars, and the computer can use them to, here are two codes, flyskyhi and nowheels.

Summary: This Game Is FUN!
Review: I'm 37 years old and generally dislike racing games, but this "kids' game" is one of the most pure, mindless FUN games I've played in a long, long time. The ability to build your own car and character -- and even make a driver's license for him -- adds to the fun and personalization of this game, and along with the wacky power-ups along each course, spices up the game making it more interesting to older kids (up to age 37!), while younger kids can just enjoy the simple, arcade-style racing. I can't wait for my 2-year-old to be old enough to play against me... until that day I'll keep practicing!!

Summary: Great FUN !!!
Review: My 5 year old son absolutely loves this game and will spend hours on end at the computer 'mastering' it. It's hours of fun and well worth every penny!

Summary: A BIG HIT
Review: My 7 year old son received this about a month ago and he and everyone in the neighbourhood just loves it. They line up at my computer waiting for their turn. We also gave it as a gift to a 9 year old friend and another hit. It was the perfect gift. I have recommended it to many others with boys in this age range. It's a little hard for them to steer at first but after an hour of practice they have it right on. Great fun.

Summary: Fun when it works
Review: The game allows you to bild your own car using LEGO pieces and then race on either individual tracks or curcuits (a series of 4 tracks one after the other with a combined score). The game is really fun and both me an my son enjoy playing it except for:

*The graphics often become choppy making the game unplayable. There is a fix suggested on LEGO's website but it is not for the faint of heart. Judging by their technical support page there is a high number of compatibility issues with graphics cards.

*The interface for designing cars is awkward and slow - pieces are hard to find and their size is hard to judge untill you actually try to put them in place.

After playing a few races we loved it. Then after the choppy graphics problem occured for the first time, we were very frustrated with it. After a few hours of research and fixing it we like playing it again. Overall, it is lots of fun but the programming could have been better.

Summary: Fun Racing Game-Just Buy It!
Review: This is a fun racing game for, yes, kids of all ages. Our four year old can play it with my help (she steers, I work the "pedals"). The races make her laugh, and she narrates each one as she drives ("Here comes the bridge!" and "Don't crash into that guy!") She also likes making her own car and driver (again with my help).

Older kids (like me) will appreciate the fact that you can just start driving, without messing with car building and tuning. Then, if you want to make a custom car, you can do it anytime.

This is an ideal first driving game. Don't get it for anyone who has already mastered other driving games, because this is a starter game. Don't get it for an older kid if they would be insulted by the cartoon Lego characters.

Final note: I read a positive newspaper review of Lego Racers II, then saw some negative reviews here on Amazon. So I looked at the original Lego Racers, saw nothing but positive comments, and ordered it here. It turns out that was a good decision.
