Summary: Try again Lego (well maybe not)
Review: Avoid this game. They did not get it right. First, I could not get it to work on XP. Oh, well. I should have looked more closely at the package. It makes no Windows claims. I did get it to work on Windows 98. But my 9-year old and I had a very slow go at figuring out how to make it work. The graphics are poor. Everything ran slow compared to our other games. (Working with 256MB memory, 32mb video memory, lots of free defragmented disk space.) The help is disfunctional much of the time and extremely slow the rest of the time. Too bad the Harry Potter enterprises did not contract with the Humongous crowd to do this. (Humongous are the makers of Pajama Sam, Freddy Fish, etc.)

Summary: Beware...Don't Buy It !!
Review: Beware...This product is defintely not worth the money. The package claims you can build rooms, make students interact, add special features to the castle, and lay down tracks for the Hogwarts Express.
1. Building the rooms is tedious, frusterating, and time consuming
2. Students and Teachers do not interact...they simply jump around
3. You can only add certain feautures to certain areas
4. The Challenges you can do to gain spells are boring and not well planned out.

Difinitley NOT worth the time or money. A shameful addition to any Lego or Harry Potter Collection!!!!!!

Summary: a computer is not a Lego system
Review: Don't get caught in the Harry Potter hype with this one. Get the real lego bricks and the kids will have more fun then trying to drag and drop objects to play a game.

The big warning is that it requires "administrator" to work on win2000 or XP. Do you really want your 9 year old able to do anything they want on your PC? Accidents will happen, mine was getting this game.

If you want great software that will keep them going, try Roller Coaster Tycoon or any of the Backyard sports games.

Review: HARRY POTTER LEGO CREATOR
Harry Potter Lego Creator is a terrific game! In this game, you enter almost every location from J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and build in them. In Diagon Alley, you can place stores, buildings, and sidewalks. at Platform Nine and Three Quarters, you build the scenery. You also build tracks to link the Platform to Hogwarts. Then you can send the Hogwarts Express on it's journey. In the Hogwarts grounds, you can build towers onto Hogwarts, and add boats for the first years. You can also design the interior of Hagrid's Hut. Inside Hogwarts, you will build inside the great hall, the classrooms, the entrance hall, and even the forbidden corridor. But first you must find the doors that lead to them. Then you use a spell to get inside. In almost every location you can set up routes for owl post.
You can also create and sort your own students and teachers. The students actually react to each other. They react differenty to someone in a different house. For instance, a Gryffindor will bow to a fellow Gryffindor but will turn there back on a Slytherin. Of course all the students will behave around the teachers.
You can also create your own models in the workshop. If the model book doesn't have what your looking for you can make it in the workshop. The workshop gives you an unlimited supply of bricks to work with.
There are also challenges that earn you spells. The level of difficulty depends on how old you are. Since I'm twelve, the challenges were pretty easy. But a six year old might think differently.
Like most games, this one has a few errors.
1. At Platform Nine and Three Quarters, you can't build more than one passenger car!
2.The Hogwarts Express does not automatically hook up to the passenger car. To do this, you must put a tree on the track. The train will then bump into the tree and smash it. Then it will back into the coach and take it.
3. It is very hard to find the entrances to the locations inside Hogwarts. Most of them are in the model book, but it all depends on which location your at.
4. You only get specific models in specific locations.
5. On my computer, after about 40-50 minutes of play, the game says there is an error and kicks me out. Luckily it always saves my work.
6. The music during the credits is very choppy.
7. The instructions leave out some of the problems I have mentioned. You must use common logic to figure out your way around some of them. I did and everything turned out great!
Other than these errors the game is great.
THINGS TO EXPECT AND NOT TO EXPECT
1. When you get this game you must know that you are building all of Hogwarts and other locations.
2. Don't be expecting the characters to talk. They only murmur and grunt.
3. Unlike the original Lego Creator, you can not program the characters to stand still. They will move wherever they like once the play signal is activated.
4. The controls are difficult. You need to be patient and take the time to learn them.
5. You and the characters cannot have spells unless you complete the challenges.
6. The Hogwarts Express will not go through the tunnel that leads to Hogwarts. It will only bump into it and reverse back to Kings Cross Station.
7. The Dursleys do not appear in this game.
8. The music is not from the movie.
COMMENTS
Over all, this game is great. It's fun watching your own Hogwarts pupils interact with each other and the buildings you've made.
You must make sure your PC is at or above the system requierments. This game is very complex and probobly takes a lot of memory from your computer. Make sure your computer is not loaded with stuff you don't need!
NOW LET THE MAGIC BEGIN!

Summary: Harry Potter is cool! This is not!
Review: I agree with most of you that this game most people shouldn't buy! This game is very, I MEAN VERY, hard to control!!!
I just hope you guys don't have to suffer through what I have. Trust me, this is not a great item unless you collect Lego(Tm)
or Harry Potter(Tm) things.

Read Below if you are still going to buy anyways.

On the box it says ages 6+ can play and control, well I am 13 and I couldn't even control this!

The Harry Potter Legos are still fun to play though.

Summary: ok...
Review: I bought this because I thought it looked like alot of fun. It...was I suppose. Why then, I hear you ask, did you give it only TWO stars? Well...
1. this is probably my main point...whenever you put a decent amount of stuff in 1 area, so that it actually looks cool, the background and most of the objects there go brown until you set the colour setting down to it's lowest, whereupon your carefully designed characters end up looking like little yellow bricks, and the spiders little grey bricks etc.
2. Relating to the first point, there is a limit on how much you can put in, and it's TINY! Just when you think you've got it looking brilliant, you try and dump in the people and it says you've got too many items! I find this HIGHLY irritating.
3. The trains. It is IMPOSSIBLE to put the Hogwarts Express together. IMPOSSIBLE! You can't even connect the carriages to the train.
4. It is really hard to master the building techniques. It took me 4 tries before it finally clicked, and my PASSION is computers. I even beat my Computing teacher. So I would not recommend this to ANYONE who doesn't like fiddling with computers.
5. It is eternally freezing. I have a VERY fast computer, and it still freezes up every other time I play it.
6. If you get a decent looking place, when you activate it it makes a strange buzzing noise and the characters walk and interact like badly designed ungreased robots.
7. Following characters and telling them what to do, although considered to be one of the main features of the game DOESN'T WORK! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! I read the manual 5 times before coming to the conclusion it just wouldn't work. You can't cast spells, mount broomsticks or do anything that the manual suggests from the player. You can't even direct them properly, they won't move for like 5 secs after you give them the order.
8. If you finally manage to get it working, like I did, on bad resolution and simple plans, it just isn't enormously fun to play. You can't play it for more than an hour before getting bored.

**Now I hear you cry, "you must have a faulty programme!". Nope. I've replaced it twice, and it just comes out the same. My advice is, read the books, see the movie if you want, but don't waste your money on this game.

Summary: Excellent game. Windows XP/2000 owner
Review: I bought this game for my little ones and they love it. I would have given it 5 stars but I had a little trouble getting it to work on 2000/XP. I have both OS's. I contacted Tech support and they helped me get it to work on my 2000 machine.

If you are having trouble getting it to work, call tech support. But if you have XP there is not much they can do to help.

If you have 2000, try using a Power User account, or loggin in as Admin for your little ones. I simply log in as myself with admin access, and play the game with them. It's great fun.

Summary: Not very fun...
Review: I feel I wasted my birthday money!! I haven't enjoyed it at all. I can't get things to work as, moving around is hard and the games aren't very fun. I think they just cashed in on the Harry Potter craze.
