Summary: Confusing!
Review: Myst is a cool game but very confusing! I had to get online for cheats but they dont make any sense and they are all the same. Whatever. If you can figure out how to play its good!

Summary: Can't Play anymore
Review: I loved this game and use to play it all the time but I can't anymore. I upgraded my computer to Windows 2000 NT. this game dosen't work for that. I think they should make the game upgradeable to. I couldn't find any for the old game. If anyone reads this and knows, please email me. catseyebuddy@yahoo.com

Summary: Learn and be rewarded
Review: First of all to those who do not have the patience to play a true strategy game without stuff blowing up every second and a half don't bother.

You will need to set the Windows compatibility mode up to handle this game if you have anything other than Win 95 or 98. I have played this and Riven without an issue on an XP Pro machine after setting up the mode and have had no issues at all.

Comments by those that call this game boring are in need of Ritalin and/or an addtional few years of true life experience aside from hanging out at the drug store threatening the elderly and practicing their graffiti skills.

The Myst trilogy is a set of classic games that require a skill that seems to be severely lacking these days, independent thought. So, if you would like to be challenged with something other than a grumbling alien shooting snot colored laser beams or the cliched wizard mumbling poorly written text then this is your game.

Now if URU could have held up it's end of the bargain I would be happy, but all good things....

Summary: Warning!!! Do Not Buy This Buggy/Crashing Stupid Game
Review: If a point and click slide show that crashes your computer every 5 mins is your definition of fun then this game is for you. Also Riven does not appear to run on XP at all. Waste of money, time and software. Eating chalk is more fun than this

Summary: An oldie but goodie..
Review: I recently bought this game when i got my new home computer. It was recommended to me by friends who thought this would be a great game to start out with.

Alone,on myst island, you must discover the locationn of "linking books". These linking books transport you to other "ages" where you are in search of red and blue pages. The pages must be returned to their books in the island library- each time you do this, you learn more and more of the story.

Artius has entrapped his two sons inside the books where they cannot escape. His sons had betrayed him and Artius himself is nowhere to be found. The search for the pages is the main point of the game and the puzzles vary in difficulty. A nice feature was the "help" options which gave you hints on solving things or the out right solution, if you were stuck.

Like all good stories, this ended with a plea for you to be available to help Artius locate his wife, catherine...and now for the sequel...

All in all, i enjoyed this game, and its puzzles. It was a point and click mouse game but the puzzles and the storyline were the best parts.

Summary: A great experience
Review: I really enjoyed a lot playing this game. The graphics, the music, the sound, everything takes you to a whole new world with a whole new set of rules. It would have been nicer to interact with other characters (AI). That would have added the fifth star.
Anyways, great game!!!

Summary: I must have "Myst" something.
Review: I just don't get the whole thing. Kind of boring if you ask me. I would have given it one star but it did come with a good free "Chess Master" game. Oh well!

Summary: Not Compatible with Windows XP and Tech Support Warning
Review: I bought the original Myst and loved it so I thought I would upgrade to the newer version. It doesn't list Windows XP of course, but I thought I would give it a try. It uses an older version of DirectX and Quicktime, and it appears that the Quicktime is the culprit. I tried getting support on the web, but it was not to be found. No patches either. I would recommend skipping this if you have Windows 2000 or XP. Riven works ok on these platforms with a patch, and the new MystIII works excellent as well.

Summary: excellent game
Review: This game is awesome and an intrigue at the same time. The story is absolutly fantastic and the remastering of the ambiance is surrealisticly moving. I never saw such an amazing game that is nonviolent and coherent. It is hard to find such a grandious game like Myst because it is not very contemporary to see companies that dedicate their precious hour to create a very astounding and educational game. I play this game all the time and I feel pretty confortable with it, even though I finished it. But the end was an enigma because there is no end. That's cheesy and redundant because I was relating this game to our life and as a human we all die. I think that if the producers were aiming to make this game to look real, they should interconnect it with a normal human life. I hope that you find this game as something you cherish rather than value it as a simple and ordinary game. If a person buys this game and don't like deep observational and mysterious games please don't buy it because myst is a game of discovery and the quest for the truth. I hope you enjoy the game as I did. BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
