Summary: Do NOT buy this tax product!
Review: Intuit has gone to great lengths to make their turbtax product nearly IMPOSSIBLE to use starting this year. With such an unforgiving activation scheme, you can only use ONE PC to do your taxes--If you want to do partially at home and partially at work for example, forget it. And in order to include this activation scheme, the cdrom automatically installs software that includes spyware and that stays on your computer using resources every time you boot up even if you uninstall turbotax! They've gone to great measures to encourage you to try TaxCut instead--Do It!

Summary: No to Turbotax
Review: Intuit's TurboTax installs C-Dilla spyware, which hogs your computers resources, and doesn't get removed when Turbotax is uninstalled. You would also have to purchase a new copy or spend lots of time on the phone with intuit trying to convince them your not a criminal if you upgrade yoru machine. None of that is worth it.
How dare they add anything that could remotely be spyware to one of the most sensitive things (Tax return) that's on my computer.

Summary: THE NEW INTUIT'S DUALITY
Review: No question Intuit has produced for years powerful tax programs. On the basis of "preventing copying", it presents in 2002 a most disturbing situation. FIRST: the program is great...if you are lucky with the new intricate "activation" process, required to download updated IRS forms and instructions. The activation should be done automatically by the program; in some cases, the program confesses, it "may not" be able to establish Internet connection. I spent FIVE hours making it work, unsuccessfully. I "chatted" through the Internet with three different technicians, none knowing what to do, one of them confessing that "to be honest" he did not know how to resolve my problem either. I called a number to register by telephone (automatic!, no human being answering!) but the program continues warning that it must be registered through Internet. Therefore, I can not access the updating source. SECOND: It is unacceptable that one buys such "business/professional" program at $100 and cannot use it FULLY but in one computer, even within the same office and using the same connecting telephone number. THIRD: Already very bad in the past, Intuit is now incredibly inconsiderate with the customers; there is no way to contact anyone (i.e., installation problem, failure, deffective CD, need for a return) and "the most FAQ" is lousy. Very regretable. One has to think twice before buying another Intuit; however, if one is aware of the negative aspects before jumping to buy, then it is OK and nobody is to be blamed. The problem is: is there another comparable program for business?

Summary: NO CUSTOMER SERVICE+NO REFUNDS=BUY TAXCUT
Review: OK, I'm something of a nut on the subject of corporate responsibility. In short, I have no problems with INTUIT doing anything they wnat with their software, as long as they give me enough knowledge to not buy thier product.

ALL 1-800 numbers for Turbo Tax have been elmininated. In fact, I can find no phone number to talk to a live person even at my expense. They have an web-based portal to talk with a live agent that I have been trying to access since Thursday, with absolutely no success.

This appears to be a very dishonest company. Even if their software were better (and I do not think that it is) I would suggest promoting a bit of corporate accountability by taking your hard earned money elsewhere.

Summary: State program does not load / Awful customer support
Review: This federal tax software product should work with the state program. It doesn't, at least for the New York State product I purchased. The state product downloads and (presumably) installs. However, the state product does not link with the Turbo Tax federal program.

After very tedious IM with a tech support idiot at TurboTax, it seems this problem is the result of Intuit's piracy prevention "feature".

I installed the federal program on my computer. I activated the program using this same computer. I purchased the state program and downloaded it to this same computer. I installed the state program using this same computer. Unfortunately, TurboTax thinks I am a software pirate and won't activate the state program.

I have been using TurboTax for the past 7 years. This year's product is the worst.

Summary: TurboTax 2002 Activation Problems
Review: This new revision of a popular tax tool is a disaster. My case: I installed Turbotax 2002 on my computer. The hard drive failed a week later. I was unable to reinstall Turbotax on my new hard drive. Error message read "This license is registered to another computer." There is no telephone # to call. Using the Intuit "chat" technical support, I was unable to resolve the problem. One tech support individual told me I had to purchase a new license. The other told gave me a new product key which would not work. AND I was unable to open earlier versions of Turbotax on my system. The C-Dilla software surreptiously loaded into my computer tied the previous versions to this license. So I had to buy a new license. This is outrageous! I do NOT recommend this software to anyone. Intuit will lose the loyal customers it has spent years cultivating.

Summary: Deceptive product
Review: This product installs a monitor software program that may track and report all of your software and data to a server on the Internet. The software runs whether the TurboTax program is active or not. The software may prevent you from accessing your tax records if you use a new computer or upgrade your present machine because a new key activation has been refused by Intuit. Save yourself a lot of grief and headaches and buy a different product from another company. This software essentially installs a virus on your machine...

Review: User friendly and easy to load/intersperses with Quickbooks. Love the easy-to-use tax forms for corporations and partnerships.
